In this episode, I get some time to reflect on the most recent strikes that are coming out of IATSE in California and across the nation. These strikes are concerns of studios and productions who are not giving behind-the-scene workers benefits, less hours on set, and even lack of sleep. Now more than ever, these workers demand to take full action and change within the industry that has far too long ignored. Almost 98.68% of its members have voted in favor of the strike, including House of Representatives who wrote a letter in full support. The question remains, will this movement change the film industry as we know it? Plus, I reviewed Netflix's final season of 'On My Block' which gives a last-glimpse look to the diverse multicultural group. I hope that this episode will give the best support to those who've been working in entertainment for many years. NEW MONTH. NEW SEASON. (Literally) In this edition, I had the upmost honor in interviewing one of the most prominent Xavier Alums who's currently working in the entertainment industry. His name is Sean O'Rourke. Sean, a fellow Xavier Alum of '98, and a Middletown, CT Native (REPRESENT), he's making incredible moves as a Producer coming into the spotlight. He currently works as Clearance Supervisor at Access Hollywood. Previously, he worked as a Video Producer at the 'Tonight Show with Jay Leno.' As an aspiring director/producer, Sean and I shared our similar experiences and love for entertainment. From discussing perspectives of the Xavier days, to talking about our favorite shows (The West Wing, Breaking Bad). What Sean and I really have in common when it comes to working in the industry is reaching and gaining opportunities. Sean had made that mark in his move to Los Angeles. Plus, after all the experiences he has gained over the years, he was an avid proponent in helping fund the school's well-known podcast Falcon Talk. He is someone who will guide me in launching my career and it's been an honor talking with him This is one of the important interviews I produced and it is definitely a fun one! Hope you enjoy the SEASON 3 Premiere of Keeping Things Reel. SURPRISE!! In honor of the BRAND NEW YEAR, it would be very fitting to bring back the people who not only founded this iconic podcast but the people who were part of this incredible experience. When I was a freshman at Xavier High School, one of the first involvements I joined during my time was the small podcast club called "Falcon Talk" bringing the latest of all things Xavier. Matthew Barry, Bryan Hultgren, and David Hoover were the founders of this podcast. Those founders are the same people who became my closest friends and brothers a fellow man could ask for. In addition, Julen Ljambio, another Xavier Alum who also joined the podcast in 2016 became part of the reunion as well. In this very special episode, the founders of Falcon Talk take a trip down memory lane on how the podcast came to be. Plus, we reminisce from notable interviews of Xavier Alums to our funniest moments that might surprise our audience. This special episode holds near and dear to my heart. As a Xavier Alumnus looking back into my start in media production and podcasting, definitely brings back the nostalgia on how far I've come. This is truly the moment I will never forget forever. I hope you all enjoy this spectacular episode I've produced for you all. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Leave a 5-Star Review on Apple Podcasts or Follow the podcast on Spotify! *Note: This interview was recorded this past October 2020 In this edition of Keeping Things Reel, I had the pleasure of catching up with the good friend and mentor Eric Uhl. It is directed by David Fincher (Mindhunter, Gone Girl, Benjamin Button) which happens to be his first directed film in over six years. Will these two films be possible Oscar contenders for the 93rd Academy Awards? Find out by listening here. I hope you enjoy this amazing episode and thanks once again for the support! In this edition, I had a huge pleasure in catching with one of my closet friends at Merrimack, Kevin Gill. Kevin is a fellow MC Alum graduated in 2017 and again in 2018 for his High Education degree. Kev and I both met through a few hockey games when I was into my first year and there the rest is history. He also appeared on my WMCK radio show "The Contemporary Kings of Comedy" a few times as well. Right now, Kevin currently works as a Resident Director at Anna Marie College at Paxton, Massachusetts. Also in this episode, we discussed about the sequels and remakes that are negatively ruining not just for the original movies or shows, but also profiting money from their industry's own gain. Plus, we also talked about one of the best actors in the game Keanu Reeves and how his personality and character is widely known by so many fans including myself. Fun fact is that Kevin is a part-time Film editor helping with shots, angles, etc. I hope you enjoy this amazing episode and thanks once again for the support! In this first October edition, I sat down with one of the most awesome, coolest professors of my time at Merrimack. I got three words for you. Dr. Jake Turner. Jake is an Associate Professor of the Communication Department at Merrimack College since 2008 and he's known as THE greatest professor not only in the department, but for the college (Don't @ me). We sat and talk about his journey as an educator of media and how he applied his knowledge/skills towards his students such as myself. Coming from his family's background of media, Jake is always determined making the subject really fun and engaging. Plus, we discussed about the anticipated series 'Cobra Kai' a direct sequel from the action movie 'The Karate Kid' about its impact for the fans from the past and beyond. The GOOD news is that its third season will be coming next year AND it's renewed for the fourth season. Dr. Turner and I have been through the thick and thin towards my college career. But since 2017, he is someone that I always look up to and has taught me, mentored me, from the very start. This is one of my favorite episodes to date and I can't wait for you all to listen to this one! Eichel currently works as a Creative Video Producer at TCU and he's a part-time Video Content Creator for MLB. He is also a founder of Creative and Written Publications where he's written a lot of books in his company. Eichel is a effective storyteller through his work not only in videos, but for the sport of baseball as well. He wanted his storytelling to reach and inspire an audience in the only way he can. In addition, we discussed how black creators and filmmakers are making a big move within the sports and entertainment industry. I hope you enjoy this amazing episode! In this edition, I had a pleasure in catching up with an old friend of mine and that is Miranda Allen. We met way before I went to Merrimack or even when we were both applying for colleges. She is an aspiring filmmaker, writer, director, and producer. Miranda is a Senior at Ithaca College majoring in Film & Cinematography. She’s also made her mark so far by directing and writing her short film ‘In My Blood’ which received positive reviews, especially selected at a few local film festivals. She’s currently the founder of Mutant Kid Creatives and also founded Neverland Natives Productions. Miranda pushed herself on so many levels and I’m so proud of the incredible work she’s made especially as a creator. Because, women today are making big strives in the entertainment industry, especially with storytellers who wanted their stories to be heard and breaking the barrier by paving the way for other girls who really aspire to be themselves in the work force. One day, when she makes a big move in Los Angeles directing big-name motion pictures, everybody is gonna remember her name. Hope you enjoy this episode! In this first full review episode, I'll be talking about one of best acclaimed films of the year 'Da 5 Bloods' directed by Spike Lee. In this review, I'll be going in-depth of the amazing cast, cinematography, and the storyline that is one for the ages. These reasons include a very special performance by Delroy Lindo who played as Paul in the film. This film happens to be relevant in the recent events today especially in the Black Lives Matter Movement. To me, this film celebrates not only the African American Veterans, but paid tribute to the leaders who paved the way and championed for change. I hope this review appeals to film audiences everywhere who is inspired and to create a compelling story. I recommend this amazing masterpiece to anyone who is interested.
