There’s a lot for women to feel worried and anxious about, if you’re paying attention to the world today. I’ve learned that when we explore our worries and stress with curiosity and compassion, we get to know ourselves in new ways and can tap into our most genuine self. What if you could allow yourself to be a woman worrier and a woman warrior? Someone who is strong, capable and resilient, come what may. You worry. I worry. We all do…. We all find ways of avoiding, pushing away or ignoring the anxiety—busyness, exercise, shopping, bingeing shows or videos, scrolling social media, eating, alcohol, drugs… Unfortunately, avoiding the anxious, worried feelings usually leaves us feeling more anxious and stressed. Battling with your worries can make sleep difficult, can make it hard to feel fully present, grounded and really hard to focus on tasks. The struggle keeps you from trusting your inner wisdom and intuition and leaves you feeling like you’re not fully living your life. I know, I’ve been there. I’m Elizabeth Cush and I’m a licensed clinical professional counselor in Annapolis, MD, and I’m the creator and host of the Woman Worriers podcast. I’ve struggled with anxiety and worry most of my life. I didn’t always know what it was, but I often felt as if I was missing something inside that others had. There was a void. I worked hard to meet other’s needs and feel connected, but I never felt truly seen and heard. Over the last 15 years I’ve learned to work with the anxiety when it shows up, to trust my inner wisdom, and to speak up and be heard. I want to help you build a caring, compassionate relationship with your anxiety and unleash the warrior within. It’s time to stop battling against yourself and start using your power to meet the challenges of everyday with energy, purpose, and bravery.
