Coming of age author Andy N, talks about writing, poetry and podcasting. He is a poet, author, musician, and fellow podcaster. His entire life he has been writing poetry, and has published many full-length poetry books throughout his career. Very recently, he published his debut novel, Birth. Birth" tells a story where a young writer's world is full of feeling - joy, sorrow, humor, and even darkness in its cornes. We not only talk about the book, but about writing a coming-of-age story, the choice of setting, and why he shifted into writing novels instead of books. Performed to a crowd of over 40 people at Chorlton Cum Hardy's Dulicmer, this recording is the live launch of 'Nobody left behind' a charity book for the Mustard Tree. The book is described as "A collection of poetry, prose and non-fiction inspired by the cost-of-living crisis. Edited by Amanda Nicholson, with writing by over 30 poets and authors from around the UK. This anthology was produced to raise awareness of the experiences you rarely see in the mainstream media. All the profits go to Mustard Tree to support the important work they do. Some of the pieces use dark humour to highlight the struggles people face, while others are more direct. They may not be easy to read, but perhaps they will inspire us all to do what little we can to help. Then, maybe we can make some small improvements to each other's lives instead of judging people." The book can be bought on Amazon at: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nobody-Left-Behind-Printed-Anthology-ebook/dp/B0BNK23NR9 Hosted and ran by Steve Smythe and Andy N, the night featured readings by the following readers in the book: 1st Half: 1) Amanda Nicholson 2) Scott Fellows 3) Steven Wailing (who read out a poem by John G Hall also) 4) Lucy Power 5) Phillip Burton 6) Linda Downs 7) Rosemary Moore 2nd Half: 1) Andy N 2) Michael Burton 3) April Manderson 4) Nigel Austell (who read out a poem also by Dorinda MacDowell) 5) Phillip Carter 6) Gordon Zola (who read out a poem also by Eve Nortley)

The latest Spoken Podcast features Andy N chatting to Amanda Steel about her forthcoming Podcast series 'Ghost of Me' which is a Podcast audio version of her book of the same name. Ghost of Me is described as "Imagine getting the chance to solve your own murder. For Sarah, the prospect becomes a reality after finding her dead body in the morgue and deciding that the injuries sustained indicate she was murdered. She won’t let being a ghost stop her from tracking down the murderer and stopping him from killing again. However, she’ll need help from someone living. She finds that help in the form of Steve; a near recluse who sees ghosts and isn’t thrilled at the idea of Sarah appearing in his house whenever she feels like it. Can they work together and save lives, or will more women have to die?" The adventure begins on 1st Feb 2021 and can be found on all good Podcast networks including https://anchor.fm/amanda-steel0

The Swan Did you see the swan drifting under the bridge next to Harvey's Café, Sarah just before sunrise and Autumn tainted the skies fluting and sighing as the heaven began streaming red caked with yellow strips Did you hear the wind silhouetting half of breath over the fading light before descending without a pause as the swan slipped into the crack pushed there by the soft current baked in samurai shadows? Did you see its wings suddenly flap in a soft palatial rumble splashing water like a shower like moon briskly with an abstruse beauty opening nature's curtains for another day with a crash instead of a half-asleep silence witnessing autumn pull away from summer.
