The Clause are a four-piece from Birmingham who bring together the swagger of the 60s, the rolling groove of the 80s and the riotous verve and attitude of the 90s.  Pearce Macca (front man), Niall Fennell (drummer) Jonny Fyffe (bassist) and Liam Deakin (guitarist) effortlessly combine huge hooks with gritty verses, indie sensibilities and rhythm and blues groove and melodies to create an altogether different beast. The music defies categorisation, rolling seamlessly from crashing percussion to huge, swinging bass. There are epic singalong choruses destined for stadiums and packed festival main stages, and darker, edgier moments evoking late night cruises down dingy back streets. The band have been together since they were kids and they have matured into one of the UK's most exciting new bands. They have hit the road throughout the autumn and winter of 2022 supporting The Reytons, on their sold-out nationwide tour, following main support slots for the Pigeon Detectives, DMAs, The Enemy and The Snuts. The band completed a 16 date solo national tour in March 2022 and then embarked on a series of gigs to finish the year with a seven date solo tour culminating in a sold out 1300 capacity home town gig in Brum at the O2 Institute in late December. The live work now continues with a tour of major cities in spring 2023 including London, Glasgow, Liverpool, Leeds and Manchester. The band have been featured, to date, on Radio 1, 6, X and XS as well as Soccer AM & Clashmusic.com. They were also honoured to play on Radio 1's Big Weekend last year. In 2022 they have released the single ‘Electric', which has been played across BBC Radio Leicester, BBC Radio Derby, BBC Radio Nottingham, Student Music Network and more, and they followed this with their summer release ‘Forever Young' in July. Previous to this, two singles have reached No1 in the iTunes rock chart and just outside the Top 20 on the main chart and they have been playlisted by Spotify on All New Rock, Deezer's Hot New Rock and YouTube's Your New Alternative Playlist. The last three singles have witnessed real growth with over 4 million streams and 65k monthly listeners. There are plans for a release in early 2023 with a high-profile collaboration in the offing later in the spring. Watch this space! The Clause have had extensive support across all media – Soccer AM, BT Sports, This Feeling, Gigslutz, Band of the Day on Maximum Volume Music and Scottish Music Network among many others, plus a cover feature in the Sunday Mail and two-page interview on the Daily Record. They have also recently been awarded the BMA ‘Best Band' for the second year running, as well as ‘Best Indie and Alternative' act. #NewMusic #Interviews #Stories #SocialMedia

The Just Checking In Podcast

In episode 160 of The Just Checking In Podcast we checked in with journalist Christian Hewgill. Christian is currently freelance and working for outlets including LBC and TalkSport. Prior to going freelance, Christian worked at BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat where he worked as a Reporter and Presenter for five years. Before he got his big break at Radio 1, Christian cut his teeth working for a variety of outlets including BBC Radio Leicester in his hometown, Notts TV and Orion Media. In this episode we discuss how and why Christian got into broadcast journalism, the mental health difficulty he experienced when he was made redundant from his Newsbeat role and why that role was more than a job for him. When it comes to issues in the industry, we discuss class, specifically Christian's working-class background and the all-consuming nature of the UK news cycle. For Christian's mental health, he is someone who has lived with anxiety and depression from an early age and often had panic attacks as a child. Christian comes from a loving and supportive, working-class Leicestershire family but felt huge confusion over his sexuality in his teenage years before coming out as gay. Before he could do that, Christian was bullied in school for expressing signs of male gender stereotype non-conformity that led his peers to suspect he was gay before he did and he was also bullied for his weight. Between the ages of 14-20 was the most difficult period of Christian's mental health and we discuss the impact that this period of poor mental health had on him and why he's found the positive tools he needed through therapy to deal with it and any other challenge life throws at him. As always, #itsokaytovent You can follow Christian on social media below: Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChrisHewgill Support Us: Patreon: www.patreon.com/venthelpuk GoFundMe: www.gofundme.com/f/help-vent-supp…ir-mental-health Merchandise: www.redbubble.com/people/VentUK/shop Music: @patawawa - Strange: www.youtube.com/watch?v=d70wfeJSEvk

In this week's show we try to make sense of the crazy 34-34 draw away at London Irish. Bristol up by 31-13 at the break and seemingly in control with a try-scoring bonus point in the bag. But a terrible second half and some tactical substitutions that appeared to backfire meant the Bears were lucky to end up with a draw. We discuss the players that shone in the game and those that had an off day. But with a squad starting to wear thin with injuries and international call ups, was this three points gained away from home or a potential five-point haul that slipped through our fingers. Either way with Exeter's home defeat, we have extended our lead at the top of the table this weekend. We also look forward to next week's game at the Gate against Leicester Tigers and get the inside track on their form with Adam Whitty, sports journalist for BBC Radio Leicester. Adam gives a great insight into the Tigers and how they are rebuilding as a club.We also discuss Harry Randall's withdrawl from the England squad with an ankle injury, Chapparo's decision to join Benetton once his loan with Bristol is up and much more...

UK-based producer-duo Kachina have announced that they will be releasing their brand new EP, titled "Eyes Of March", on the 13th December, via Affectionate Grooves and NexGen Music, and have just shared the title track from this much-anticipated upcoming release, out 15th November. Originally a trio, Kachina tragically lost one of their members, Zurcon, to cancer earlier this year, but continue to honour him and his musical contribution, including his role in the creation of their forthcoming "Eyes Of March" EP. Kachina have already received extensive support from reputable tastemakers DJ Mag, Resident Advisor, COMPLEX and AFROPUNKas well as radio play from BBC Radio 1's Annie Nightingale, Monkiand Toddla T,BBC Radio Leicester, BBC Coventry & Warwickshire, Rinse FM's Marcus Nasty andReprezent Radio's Benteki. Racking up over 20 million streams on Spotifyalone, the group have been involved in many prestigious projects and events, including sharing stages with acclaimed artists such as Crookers andThe Bloody Beetrootsand working on collaborations withSynkro, Nero, Bar9and Distance.     Kachina was created by Rob Sparx, Zurcon andWigz, and is not your regular house music project. Now, continuing on with Rob Sparx and Wigzand Based in Leicester and Leamington Spa, these multi-talented musicians have always wished to dig deeper when it comes to electronic music, explaining that, "We're writing music that isn't just functional party music; its therapy using bass, rhythm, melody & harmony, we try to capture a spiritual sense of the world mixing our favorite dance styles with a tribal sound." As a trio, Kachina injected the UK electronic scene with this positive energy for years, with their involvement in many local events such as collaborating with the Sous Solparties and playing regularly for Bloopparties, among many other projects. Drawing inspiration from a variety of underground electronic genres such as classic UK garage, dub and dubstep, Kachina are influenced by the sounds of many iconic producers and DJs from the mid-90's and early 2000's such as Tuff Jam,dubstep pioneerEl-B andGroove Chronicles, as well as the music selected by Giles Petersonon his Worldwideradio show and the early releases from Black Butter record label. Kachina also cite more contemporary acts such asGhost, Burial, Gorgon City, London Grammar andCause & Affect as influences, while their own sound could best be compared the iconic UK garage sounds of artists such as Wookie, DJ EZ andTodd Edwards. The title track from Kachina's "Eyes Of March"  EP ignites a sense of dub groove with its reverb-soaked reggae-style vocals and adds a unique twist with uptempo drums and funky house-infused synth melodies. Drawing on elements from old-school UK garage and house sounds, while simultaneously sitting comfortably within contemporary electronic music genres, Kachina have created a track that oozes bluesy danceability. Kachina comments, "This is the first press release we've done since Zurcon passed away in April, RIP Ernest Payne you were a proper one in a million diamond geezer!"and goes on to explain, about their latest single, "Get yer skanking shoes on for 'Eyes of March'! The title track from Kachina's 10th and strongest release yet on Affectionate Grooves is a 130bpm epic & euphoric soulful dub journey with a memorising combination of cheeky dub vocals and an ever evolving super funky amen workout. With elements of Tuff Jam era garage, Jungle and 88-92 classic hardcore, Eyes of March is the anthem you've been waiting for!" Follow Kachina: Facebook- Twitter- Soundcloud- YouTube- Instagram
