The team is assembled ahead of Freo and the Cats, but Isaac and K-Mac are squaring off over last night's State of Origin result. Luckily, Isaac has come ready with several guernseys of winning teams. With Toyota about to make another Legendary Moment commercial, our team nominated their own highlights, then Fremantle assistant coach Jaymie Graham joins the show pre-game. After an astonishing story out of Geelong today, Cats legend Garry Hocking calls in to explain what he happened as he attempted to make a citizen's arrest, then Luke Beveridge had some jabs for Jordan Lewis. As Isaac continues to swap into winning guernseys, Jay Z rolls his Chief's Agenda out, and K-Mac's Royal Commission looks at people who might've gone off too soon. More footy news around Melbourne and Essendon is followed by Geelong GM of Footy Andrew Mackie. Then we hear Isaac's Penthouse or Outhouse, and a round of Unpopular Opinions. Finally, Andrew Embley joins the crew from the West, but we're interested in a little moment he had on air a few weeks ago.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We're incredibly grateful to have a fresh Isaac Smith on the show - after he said nary a word on Footy Classified on Tuesday night. He might also have a manspreading issue. St KIlda's Mitch Owens reports in from ground level as he recovers from a hamstring injury, and K-Mac is worried about Jay Z in the wake of Scott Pendlebury's 433rd game. The team reflects on what Neale Daniher has meant to footy, and Australia. Then Jay Z and the team dive deep into Essendon's search for its new coach - where all roads currently seem to lead to one man. K-Mac has rebranded The Queen's Queries into the Royal Commission - and she ponders on what big events could be held at The Lodge in Canberra. I sat down with Nathan Fake, one of the UK's most distinctive electronic music producers, to chart his journey from rural Norfolk to the forefront of techno, IDM and experimental electronic music — and to unpack Evaporator, his seventh studio album. The record marks a clear pivot away from drum-heavy habits toward mood, melody and atmosphere, growing out of an intentional “ambient-only” brief. We dig into the nuts and bolts of music production: why Nathan still sketches ideas in old versions of Cubase, how cassette saturation, cheap gear and sonic imperfections add human friction, and where modern plugins genuinely earn their place. He talks about contrast as a compositional tool — lush pads against tough drums — and traces a lineage from Border Community's trance-tinged techno through to echoes of Warp-era electronic atmospherics. There's also a candid look at playing legacy tracks live, reshaping classics like “The Sky Was Pink” and “Outhouse” through improvisation, memory and feel, rather than carbon-copy recreations.Beyond sound design, the conversation opens out into bigger questions about electronic music today. Do long-form tracks still survive in a scroll- and swipe-first ecosystem? Nathan answers by doubling down, placing a nine-minute centrepiece at the heart of the new album. We reflect on working with small independent labels versus larger music organisations, and he shares pragmatic advice for staying singular: ignore trends, set your own constraints, and let the idea dictate the tool. We also probe the monoculture of online tutorials and ubiquitous DAWs.If you enjoy Lost and Sound and want to help keep it thriving, the best way to support the podcast is simple: subscribe, leave a rating, and write a quick review on your favourite podcast platform. Remember about 15 years ago, when the publicly-troubled-at-the-time actor Charlie Sheen went viral for invoking the word “WINNING!” all over the place and in some pretty odd ways. Even when he wasn't winning.Charlie's past that now. But let me submit our guest today has full rights to that word: Veteran PC and Conservative Party campaign manager, Steve Outhouse. He managed Premier Tony Wakeham's majority winning campaign just a couple of weeks ago in Newfoundland. As well as Premier Smith's UCP majority victory in Alberta.Steve hails from Freeport, Long Island in southwest Nova Scotia. He worked in various comms roles in the Harper government before moving on to helm 3 federal CPC Leadership campaigns, as well as provincial leadership campaigns in Nova Scotia, PEI and the aforementioned Newfoundland and Labrador. He's the founder of the “Just Campaigns” consultancy and says he's “a bad business person”, but winning elections isn't exactly bad for business. We'll talk today a little more about Steve's background about what animates his political life. Then we'll do a deep dive into modern campaign mechanics: What works today? What doesn't? I want his thoughts on “hot button” issues and how best to use them. Then, and this particularly relevant because he was Chief of Staff to Pierre Poilievre prior to 2015, what advice would Steve give to the federal Conservatives?Thank you for joining us on #TheHerleBurly podcast.
