Battle lines were drawn this week as the Conservatives held two conferences – whose side are you on? In the blue corner Suella Braverman and a whole host of unsavoury fringe figures from the National Conservatism Movement. In the other blue corner it's the Conservative Democratic Organisation aka the ‘bring back Boris brigade' led by Nadine Dorries. Plus the Turkish election – is Erdogan's time up? And yes, we'll be talking about Eurovision. Alex Andreou joins Ros Taylor to explore the week ahead. “Boris wasn't there which isn't unusual as it wasn't a paid gig.” – Alex Andreou “We've gone ‘high skill high wage' economy to a ‘let's all pick some apples' economy'” – Alex Andreou “Unhappiness following the local council elections was subsided by the Coronation but now it's back with a vengeance.”– Alex Andreou Support us on Patreon: www.patreon.com/bunkercast Written and presented by Ros Taylor with Alex Andreou. The Tory contenders are expected to announce their own measures to protect households and businesses from the energy crisis. Why has it taken this long? Labour too, is yet to reveal a strategy. Will they leave the Tories to fight amongst themselves? Also on the podcast, Nicola Sturgeon has made a comeback at Liz Truss who earlier in the month called the Scottish leader an attention seeker. At the Edinburgh fringe festival, she told the audience that Liz Truss once asked her how to be featured in Vogue. So who is the real attention seeker now? And will they ever see eye-to-eye if Truss gets into No.10? Isabel Hardman speaks to Katy Balls and James Forsyth. Produced by Natasha Feroze.

The gloves are off when it comes to Conservatives voicing their thoughts on their leader this week, so Christopher Hope invites both sides of the argument to the Red Lion to duke it out (with words, that is).Northern Ireland Minister and long-time Johnson ally, Conor Burns MP, makes his case in defence of the Prime Minister, letting listeners know that Boris Johnson isn't someone to give up lightly. While in the other corner of the ring, Conservative Home founder Tim Montgomerie bemoans the lack of ambition he sees in government, and accuses Boris Johnson of having less vision than Gordon Brown...Plus, veteran broadcaster Alastair Stewart, on why he thinks the 'mainstream media' is less than impartial when it comes to Boris Johnson, and Charles Lewington, former Head of Communications for the Tories in the 1990s, on why comparisons to Sir John Major's government are misplaced. For 30 days' free access to The Telegraph: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/chopper |Sign up to the Chopper's Politics newsletter: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politicsnewsletter|Listen to The Vaughany and Tuffers Cricket Club: https://podfollow.com/vandtcc|Email: chopperspolitics@telegraph.co.uk |See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Episode #63 Today on Categorical Imperatives we go down a rabbit hole about how often police shoot and even kill other officers, why it happens and the disturbing trend I have found that its becoming common to blame a suspect for the death, despite the fact they never contest it was another officer who actually fired the shot that caused the death. This all sprang from what started as an article of a single, ongoing case where a woman named Jenna Holm is charged with manslaughter after one officer on the scene was hit by a cop car arriving on scene. These incidents of what I have dubbed "Blue on Blue violence" is something I discovered during my personal research for this video that only seem to be reported on as many separate & distinct instances. I found little data or reporting that has aggregated these instances and looked at them collectively. This episode is a preliminary attempt to compile these sorts of incidents. Since this information is nearly as new to me as it likely is for you. So as I learn more this will be a topic I intend to follow up on in future episodes. Andy served both in the ranks and as an officer from 1976 to 1996 in the Royal Marines. He passed out of training as the top recruit (King’s Badgeman, 98 Troop) and as the best Young Officer (Royal Marines Sword of Honour Young Officer Batch May 80) and was awarded a General Officer Commanding’s Commendation for his field work in Northern Ireland (40 Commando Royal Marines). At the height of the ground fighting in the 1982 Falklands islands conflict, he was a rifle troop commander in charge of 32 men, and was tasked with operating independently from his unit, 45 Commando Royal Marines, in no man’s land. During this phase, whilst conducting a fighting patrol to destroy some of the enemy’s fire support systems, he ambushed what he thought was an enemy force killing four men. It transpired that it was a friendly patrol from his own unit. This single event, coupled with five tours in Northern Ireland, changed his perception of himself and gradually life in general, and was the beginning of a long slide towards ultimate despair, and eventually contemplation of suicide. From 1982 until 1996 he managed to continue functioning in various command capacities within the Royal Marines, but at the same time was aware of a growing split between the rational external face and the lurking internal horror that was slowly engulfing his entire persona. Eventually his marriage collapsed and the loss of his family, two daughters, and all possessions, triggered off the reactions that are now known to be classical symptoms of PTSD. In 1989 the term Post Traumatic Stress Disorder was unknown to Andy and by 1996 he finally accepted that he had to leave the Corps and country he loved in order to deal with this overwhelming problem. He bought an old classic yacht and with his new wife, Cheralie, sailed off into the North Atlantic to re-discover himself. In the late summer of 1997 they discovered the beautiful sub-tropical Balearic island of Formentera and dropped anchor. It was here that Andy began the process of self-healing. On the 6th of September 2012, by invitation of the Commanding Officer, who was an old friend, Andy gave a two hour presentation to 45 Commando Royal Marines on his war and its effects. Not only did he manage this with no emotional fall-out, but that night he found himself listening to a number of serving officers who wanted to talk about their experiences and resultant emotional problems. Andy realised that this was the end of his 30-year battle with PTSD; and the beginning of a new career in mentoring those who are suffering today. Thus The Mountain Way was born. In this episode of The Under The Dome Podcast I discuss the fifth episode titled “Blue on Blue” that aired on July 22th on CBS. I go over some news regarding the show since the last podcast and talk about it's ratings. I talk about character development, in particular Barbie’s military career, the building conflict between Big Jim & Jr., Julia’s beliefs about her husband, the weird scene between Angie and Jr. and of course our teenage couple Joe & Norrie. I talk about the appearance of Norrie’s father and why her moms hadn’t mentioned him to her. And finally I talk about the M.O.A.B. (Mother Of All Bombs) that the military launched against Chester’s Mill, it’s outcome and repercussions of the attack. I close out this episode with some listeners feedback, and the answers I received to the weekly Twitter question. I also mention a special podcast being released this weekend with audio from This past weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con Under The Dome Panel. I'd like to thank all those who have subscribed to this podcast and encourage them to join the discussion by sending in their feedback by calling 805-910-7656 or by e-mailing me at feedback@solotalkmedia.com.
