But while all of these are some of the best of the best of the motion control era of gaming, my  true favorite lies within a much more lesser known title found on the 3DS (and I think PS Vita) made by Drinkbox Studios.  That game is Severed--a game about battling your way through a purgatory-like dreamworld full of demons that you slice and dice with a sword using your stylus!  The game's main themes are dealing with trauma, revenge, and loss.  And of course, it all ends with acceptance.

Sources say Connor went through much the same process as Samara Weaving, who was attached as Emma Frost the week prior, meeting with Schreier and Marvel president Kevin Feige alongside a group of candidates who tested after the July 4th holiday before the studio settled on him. Neither Marvel nor Connor has confirmed the casting, and the film, written by Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear co-creator Joanna Calo, still has no release date. Cyclops has been played on screen before by James Marsden and Tye Sheridan, with Marsden set to reprise the role in December's Avengers: Doomsday. Sony and Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: Brand New Day crossed the one-billion-dollar mark overseas in just twelve days of release, making it the second-fastest film ever to reach that number abroad behind Avengers: Endgame. The Destin Daniel Cretton film now stands at $1.67 billion worldwide, split between $654.3 million domestically and $1.013 billion internationally, which makes it the twelfth highest-grossing movie of all time and only the sixteenth ever to clear a billion in foreign markets alone. Universal had a milestone of its own to celebrate, as Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey passed $1.1 billion worldwide to become the highest-grossing film of his career ahead of The Dark Knight Rises, while also becoming the biggest IMAX release ever with $289 million, and it still has China to open on Friday. James Gunn spent part of a Threads session last week putting down one of the most persistent rumors surrounding Matt Reeves' Batman trilogy, telling a fan who asked whether The Batman Part III was being filmed simultaneously with Part II simply, “I can deny.” The theory had gained steam over years of delays, most recently when a redesigned Part II logo appeared to work a Roman numeral III into the artwork, and it offered fans a tidy explanation for why the sequel has taken so long to arrive. In reality, Part II only began principal photography in London in June, and Warner Bros. has already pushed the film from October 2027 to February 18, 2028. Sony and Nintendo's live-action The Legend of Zelda has cast Australian actor Uli Latukefu as Ganondorf under a multi-picture deal, with Severance's Dichen Lachman playing Impa and The Handmaid's Tale's Yvonne Strahovski reported as a queen character. For over thirty years, Adam Scott has been one of the most engaging, hilarious, versatile actors we have working today. Born in Santa Cruz, California, Scott, the son of two teachers and the youngest of three children, sent all of his schooling in The Golden State, as he was a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Post college, Scott started to get acting gigs in several feature films like Star Trek: First Contact, The Lesser Evil, High Crimes, and a notable supporting role in The Aviator, sharing scenes with Leonardo DiCaprio. At the same time, he had made a name for himself on the small screen with appearances on shows like Boy Meets World, Party of Five, and as a love interest on Six Feet Under. Growing up, Scott always dreamed of becoming either the next Al Pacino or David Letterman, becoming obsessed with Pacino as a beacon of acting for a generation as well with Letterman's obscure sense of humor tickling his funny bone. It's funny how life works out, because as Scott was making his mark in more dramatic work, the summer of 2008 changed his career forever when he starred in the latest comedy from director Adam McKay, Step Brothers, and without any improve skills to his resume, was able to land giant laughs opposite the biggest comedy star of the time, Will Ferrell. From this moment, things took off for Scott, as the following summer saw the release of the cult comedy television classic, Party Down, which followed a group of caterers in Los Angeles as they hope to make it in Hollywood. The show was cancelled after two seasons in 2010 (though it was brought back in 2023 for a third season), but as that door closed for Scott, another one opened with his role as Ben Wyatt on Parks and Recreation, a state auditor who slowly becomes the love interest for Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler). As a fan of the acclaimed NBC show, I can say that the best thing to happen to Parks and Recreation was the addition of Scott as Ben Wyatt, delivering one of the funniest characters on the show as well as one of the best television couples of the last twenty years. Since his time with the gang from Pawnee, Indiana, he's continued to showcase his range as an actor, with guest comedic spots on shows like The Good Place and Veep, was part of the ensemble for Big Little Lies, appeared in the sequel to Wet Hot American Summer, and even hosted comedic physical game show called Don't in 2020. But all of this work has lead him to the biggest role of his career so far as Mark on hit Apple TV+ drama, Severance. From the mind of creator Dan Erickson, Severance follows employeesat a mysterious company called Lumon Industries that have undergone a procedure known as “severance” to ensure that they have no memories to the outside world while they are at work, with no memory of their work life once they leave the building. This creates then the idea of an “innie” and “outie” personality within one's self, which would be dangerous if the worlds crosses, but that's exactly what happens to Mark at the end of season one, as he and his other colleges at Lumon briefly are able to bring their innie selves into the real world in their outie's body. The second season grapples with the repercussions of the rebellious Lumon employee's actions, as well as goes down various rabbit holes to show that the company that Mark works for is various dangerous as well as a deeper, personal connection to him that he could've ever known. It's riveting, thought-provoking, thrilling television that has slowly become the best show on television in large part to the excellent writing by Erickson, the inventive direction by Ben Stiller, and the incredible work by the show's massive ensemble, led by Scott, who in season two, not only gives the best performance of his career so far, but the best performance by any actor on television this year. In his glowing review of the season, our television editor Tyler Doster stated that Scott was “at his best this season,” finding “a new hunger” within his performance that grows this season as the mystery around Mark and the other characters begins to take shape. In my in-depth conversation with the Emmy nominated actor and producer, we discussed the anticipation of filming season two, the differences in playing Mark S. and Mark Scout, how trust is a key theme throughout the second season, and what it is like to be part of a global television phenomenon similar to The Twilight Zone and Lost; two shows that mean a lot to him and speak to the power of character forward storytelling. We also spoke about the dueling romantic relationships Mark finds himself in, what it is like working with co-stars Britt Lower and Dichen Lachman, the technical challenges of filming the camcorder and running sequences found in first and last episode of the season, as well as his versatility as a character actor; moving from drama to comedy, and how that helped him form who Mark is. In between all of this, Scott shared his favorite flavor of Gatorade, the need for bananas when performing stunts on set, his fondness for his time on his other beloved television series Party Down and Parks and Recreation, and why he loves the Fast and The Furious franchise. From comedy to drama to everything in between, Scott can do it all, and with Severance, he's showcasing a confidence of an actor who is destiny to continue to empty the tank until it's time to punch out his time card a long time from now. "Severance" is one of the most beloved and popular series in the world right now. After waiting for the second season for nearly three years, it was finally released to positive reviews and an enthusiastic response from fans earlier this year. One of the brightest spots of this season was the character of Gemma Scout/Ms. Casey, played by Dichen Lachman. Lachman was given a showcase in "Chikhai Bardo," episode seven of the second season, as Gemma and Mark's backstory was fleshed out, allowing Lachman to delve deeper into the character. Severance is an American science fiction psychological thriller television series created by Dan Erickson, and executive produced and primarily directed by Ben Stiller. It stars Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, Sarah Bock and Patricia Arquette. The plot follows Mark Scout (Adam Scott), who agrees to a "severance" program in which his workplace memories are separated from his external memories.Severance premiered on Apple TV+ on February 18, 2022. Last week I was watching Severance and — this is not a spoiler — the episode centered around the backstory of “Ms. Casey,” played by Dichen Lachman. I found myself immersed, totally taken with her performance, the way I usually enjoy this show. It's one of my favorites. Afterwards, I had a moment and realized, “Wow. I'm not the least bit jealous of the actress who played her.” And that felt AMAZING. How did I get here?I read for the role of “Ms. Casey” in 2020, back when it was titled Tumwater. This was one of the last times I went in-person for an audition — it was actually Valentine's Day, so pre-pandemic. I did not come anywhere close to landing the part; I didn't get a callback and I remember the casting director trying to work with me several times in the room to find the correct “tone.” Having seen the show, I now see I was pretty tone deaf and nowhere near it.Maybe that's why watching it didn't bother me, because it was never even close to being mine. There are parts in other projects that I have come close to, that I haven't seen or that I avoid talking about, because it still feels painful. Parts that were juicy, parts that would've changed my bank account, parts that would've changed the trajectory of my life and my career. Maybe.I've been getting paid to act since I was 5-years-old. I got my SAG/AFTRA card when I was 9, in 1985. I consider myself a professional actor, even though there are many years that go by unemployed and uninsured. When I first got out of college and no longer had my parents to staple my headshot to my resume or drive me to auditions in the city, I began logging all my auditions: casting directors, what I wore, how I felt, what my average booking/callback rate was. I stopped doing that in my 30's, when I realized it was leading to an unhealthy obsession over my career that spilled into other areas — like controlling what I ate or not going on vacations “just in case I have to work” or spending most of those vacations memorizing. I'm still guilty of the latter. At the end of 2019 I was starring in two feature films with back to back shoots. So I had a lot of lines to learn, but I managed to find more balance. I consciously dedicated an hour in the morning, another after lunch, and another before bed so that I could still enjoy a Thanksgiving Paris.Like I learned with vacations, and food, how I talk to myself about my weight and how I look — I have had to carve out a healthier way to look at rejection and jealousy. I'm writing this not as a “How to deal with rejection and jealousy” but more of a reflection on why I think I'm able to cope with it better at certain times than others. I mean, I don't think I have this figured out but I'm still pretty in awe that I've gotten to this point.In the past, if I was also working, it was much easier to let the pain roll off my back if I was booked/busy. And yes, I think the decades of rejection and comparison have helped me develop a more calloused/thicker skin, but I also believe this comes from monitoring what I allow into my life, in the form of negativity. This comes not only from others in the entertainment industry, but also the everyday language I choose to listen to. The things I read. The podcasts I play. The casual gossip I hear, even among friends.Not too long ago, I met one of my childhood heroes growing up. She shook my hand and asked how she might know my work. I told her probably from Saving Face, because that is the film I'm best known for. She immediately nodded — “That's why I don't know your face, I never watched that movie! Because they didn't cast me in it!” It was a strange moment. For me, at least. Because I related to her, and it wasn't a side of her I wanted to relate to. I wanted to just fan girl or bond over being Asian actresses. I mean, she was a huge reason I knew I could even be in the movies. She was a trailblazer! But instead, I saw in her the part of me I tried to stuff down, avoid, and hide — the part of rejection and comparison that is so painful it can leave you feeling wounded, even decades later. And yet, she was so cool and casual about it. Enthusiastic, even!Lately, I've been embracing a lot of my imperfections. Mostly because I have no choice with perimenopause, where each and every hour presents me with a new set of weird physical and emotional symptoms. It's getting more and more challenging to be my own cheerleader. So instead of the constant reframing into positivity that has been harder to access, I've been re-examining my flaws. Giving them space and time to heal. Realizing many of them will be scarred and not as painful to touch. But the risk of re-infection is there. And so, I've still gotta protect my heart and work on that balance. This is a public episode.
