In the second installment of our interview, Frank Stoddard gives us an unfiltered, no-holds-barred, take-no-prisoners, damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead, INSIDE look at how his time as Jeff Burton's Roush Racing crew chief came to an inglorious end. We then take a look inside the March 7, 1996 issue of Winston Cup Scene. Jeff Gordon wins on a COLD weekend in Richmond, while Jack Roush isn't satisfied with his organization's results … and just wait until you hear WHERE his teams' drivers finished. It's SO cold … heck freezes over and NASCAR doesn't penalize three of the top-five finishers. AND … there's SOME reaction to an incident the previous week between Dale Earnhardt and Bobby Hamilton at Rockingham. Dale Earnhardt Jr. sits down with a driver from NASCAR's past, Tennessee's own Casey Atwood. After rapidly making a name for himself in the late model stock division at Nashville Fairgrounds, Atwood made a big splash in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, becoming one of the youngest winners in history. Casey explains that while his family grew up watching racing, he would become the first driver in his lineage after convincing his father to buy him a go-kart. The father-son team would start out at the Nashville Fairgrounds before entering the World Karting Association ranks and finding championship success.Upon graduating from the karting world, Casey entered into the four-cylinder ranks at Highland Rim Speedway in Greenbrier, TN. It was there he forged a friendship with Bobby Hamilton, a relationship that would help pave his entryway into NASCAR. A successful season in late model stock competition propelled his name into the NASCAR garage, and after turning heads in 1999 by becoming the youngest winner in Xfinity Series history at the time, Casey was sure he would have a spot in the sport for many years to come. Unfortunately though, a career gamble on a new team and a year of rookie struggles in the Cup Series would leave Casey Atwood in the “what could have been” category of NASCAR's past drivers.21+ and present in NC. After a special appearance by official studio dog Otis, we dive into the third and final installment of our interview with the one and only Harold Holly. He talks about his intense drive for excellence, parting ways with PPC Racing, getting hooked up with gas-masher Bobby Hamilton Jr., and his decision to leave NASCAR and go dirt racing. We also take a look at the February 3, 1983 issue of the Grand National Scene. This was a preview issue of the upcoming Daytona 500 … and it has absolutely nothing to do with Harold Holly. Why go through this issue this week, you ask? It's all about an important project and the preservation of NASCAR history. This week's episode kicks off with hosts Rick Houston and Steve Waid sitting down with Las Vegas Motor Speedway President and General Manager Chris Powell and NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace for a very special announcement. Then, in the third and final installment of our conversation, Archie Kennedy talks about his disappointment at being cut from the Petty Enterprises over-the-wall pit crew and how that might or might not have played into the difficult decision to tell Richard and Lynda Petty that he would no longer be driving their motorhome. After leaving Petty Enterprises, Archie went to work for another ultra-significant figure in NASCAR history … Jeff Gordon. We then take a deep dive into the October 5, 1995 issue of Winston Cup Scene. Mark Martin wins at North Wilkesboro, but it's Ernie Irvan in the spotlight as he makes his return to competition. Ricky Rudd gets all bitc … sorry … Ricky Rudd is not pleased with NASCAR when he's forced to return to the pits late in the race to tighten loose lug nuts. It's revealed that Ted Musgrave got REALLY close to Bobby Hamilton in their battle for the 1991 rookie-of-the-year title. Curtis Markham doesn't let a little thing like blindness hinder HIS attempts to win the 1995 Busch Series freshman title. Archie Kennedy finds himself in Scene's Photo Bio section. Rusty Wallace talks about his dream vehicle … and it AIN'T on four wheels. Slim Jim moves its sponsorship to Jason Keller's team … and gives away A LOT of product. Finally, the legendary PR rep Tom Roberts extends an incredible streak of being at the track. NOTE: This episode may be too emotionally intense for some listeners. Archie Kennedy remembers Bobby Hamilton, John Andretti and the loss of his friend and protege, Adam Petty. This week in the final installment of our interview with Bobby Hamilton Jr., he talks about going Cup racing with Cal Wells and the difficulties he faced there, the devastating loss of his dad and attempting to race without him, and his decision to walk away from the sport. We then dig into the October 29, 1987 issue of Grand National Scene. Bill Elliott and Morgan Shepherd win at Rockingham, but it's Dale Earnhardt and Larry Pearson who win championships. Dale's team wins the pit crew race for the third season in a row, gets a new primary sponsor in GM Goodwrench AND Dale gets BLASTED by more than a few letter writers. In the second installment of our interview, Bobby Hamilton Jr. takes us through his grand master plan to get fired, joining team owner Ed Rensi, partnering up with crew chief Harold Holly, to use traction control or NOT to use traction control, the OTHER tricks of the trade and his plans for winning the 2003 Busch Series championship. Instead of an issue-of-the-week segment this week, I sat down with Deb Williams, who was recently elected to the National Motorsports Press Association Hall of Fame. Deb's resume as a journalist includes stops at United Press International, Grand National/Winston Cup Scene, USA Today and now Autoweek. She's also a two-time winner of the prestigious Russ Catlin Award, as well as the Henry T. McLemore Award. We've had interviews here on The Scene Vault Podcast … and then we've had INTERVIEWS … and this is the one you didn't know you needed. In the first of three installments, Bobby Hamilton Jr. takes us through living life as the son of a Nashville racing legend, both on the track and away from it. We learn about him getting bit by the racing bug … and although his parents supported his racing habit … it was only to a certain extent … and after that, Bobby Jr. was on his own. We then take a deep dive into the May 16, 2002 issue of Winston Cup Scene. Bobby Hamilton Jr. wins the first race of his Busch Series career at New Hampshire, despite a couple of botched pit stops. Roush Racing attempts to get back up to speed at the Winston Cup level with drivers Mark Martin, Jeff Burton, Matt Kenseth and Kurt Busch behind the wheel. Anthropologist James Todd does a study on Southern Culture and Stock-Car Racing. And a bunch of racers help get host Rick Houston past his issues with flying commercial in the most hard-core ways possible. This week ... host Rick Houston and his sons Jesse and Adam join listener Bill Stripling for a memorable weekend of decidedly Old School and frigid short-track racing at Martinsville Speedway. In the first of what will be three installments with longtime NASCAR Busch Series and Cup crew chief Gil Martin, he takes us through his very first days in the sport. A buddy of his needed help out at the old Nashville Fairgrounds Raceway … and Gil didn't particularly want to go. But he went any way, a move that very obviously turned out to change the course of his life.Gil also remembers Bobby Hamilton and the genesis of Filmar Racing, and the growing pains that Nashville-based operation faced with four very different drivers … Bobby Hamilton, David Green, Jeff Burton and finally, Kenny Wallace. Finally, Gil takes us through his move to Richard Childress Racing. In our second segment, Rick and co-host Steve Waid leaf through the April 16, 1992 issue of Winston Cup Scene. Davey Allison wins at North Wilkesboro, despite being battered, bruised and sore from an accident the race before in Bristol. Bobby Hillin gets put in lockdown due to a run-in with Kyle Petty … and there's actually a connection to that incident AND our new NASCAR Technical Institute studio.Oh … but wait … there's more. Dave Marcis helps pave the way for NASCAR to make its first appearance at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a young Dale Jarrett tumbles out of his car while trying to leave North Wilkesboro, a Junior Johnson & Associates crew member is unable to go on an important mission? Why? Because he's locked in a porta-john. Finally, there's an almost unbelievable connection … again … to our deal with John Dodson at the NASCAR Technical Institute.NOTE: This podcast is not associated in any way with American City Business Journals, owners of the Scene brand.

The 1993 Daytona 500, the 35th running of the event, was held February 14 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida as the first race of the 1993 NASCAR Winston Cup season. Dale Jarrett won the race. Dale Earnhardt was the leader on Lap 130 when Wally Dallenbach Jr. brushed the Turn 4 wall. Sterling Marlin and Michael Waltrip were lined up behind him, and when Marlin backed off, Waltrip tagged him and sent him into a spin. Marlin caught air as he spun by Joe Ruttman, who was coming to pit road to retire with engine failure. 5 laps after the restart, Rick Wilson and Bobby Hamilton collided on the backstretch. Approaching 50 laps to go, 1991 Daytona 500 winner Ernie Irvan was turned into the wall exiting Turn 2, eliminating a possible winner. The first major wreck happened when Dale Earnhardt touched 1992 Indianapolis 500 winner Al Unser Jr. (competing in his only Winston Cup Series race). His #46 Chevrolet crashed into the 90 of Bobby Hillin Jr., who spun into the path of polesitter Kyle Petty. Both had a heated verbal exchange, Hillin reportedly was telling Petty he had no brakes, but both were victims of circumstances. With 31 laps to go, Derrike Cope and Waltrip touched in Turn 2. Waltrip spun down into 1989 Winston Cup Champion Rusty Wallace and sent him into a horrific series of barrel rolls in the grass. A little more than minute later, Ken Squier reported that Wallace came on the radio to crew chief Buddy Parrott and said, "I'm okay." By this time, Hut Stricklin and Sterling Marlin presented themselves as contenders. Earnhardt led from the restart, only to be passed briefly by Dale Jarrett. The #3 was soon in the lead again, as he was pursued by the Chevrolets of Jarrett and Jeff Gordon, and the Fords of 1986 Daytona 500 winner Geoff Bodine, Hut Stricklin, Mark Martin, and Morgan Shepherd. The "Dale and Dale Show" commenced as Jarrett passed Earnhardt in the tri-oval as they took the white flag. As the leaders exited Turn 2, the CBS Sports producers told Ken Squier and Neil Bonnett through their headsets to let Ned Jarrett to "call his son Dale home". In response, Jarrett called the finish thus: "Come on, Dale! Go, buddy, go! All right, come on! I know he's got it to the floorboard; he can't do anymore! Come on! Take 'er to the inside! Don't let 'em get on the inside of you comin' around this turn! Here he comes, Earnhardt; it's the "Dale and Dale Show" as we come off Turn 4! You know who I'm pulling for, it's Dale Jarrett. Bring her to the inside, Dale! Don't let him get down there! He's gonna make it! Dale Jarrett's gonna win the Daytona 500!!!" The next weekend at Rockingham, Ned reportedly apologized to Earnhardt for his obvious show of bias, to which an understanding Earnhardt replied, "I'm a daddy too."

On a deeply controversial episode of After Hours AM/America’s Most Haunted Radio with hosts Joel Sturgis and Eric Olsen — we talk with Bigfoot hunter and star of KILLING BIGFOOT, Jim Lansdale, as well as creator/director of the series, Peter von Puttkamer, about their new show on Destination America. Jim and Peter join us in Hour 2.in Hour 1. Joel and Eric shovel out the week’s hot paranormal news and exchange bon mots. Killing Bigfoot logo Deep in the heart of Texas, Bobby Hamilton, his friend Jim Lansdale, and their team of monster hunters known as the Gulf Coast Bigfoot Research Organization (GCBRO), have decided to take the hunt for Bigfoot with deadly seriousness. Across the South, the hunters believe a sleeker, faster and more aggressive type of Bigfoot is attacking people’s farm animals, pets, and even threatening humans. In the all-new series KILLING BIGFOOT, GCBRO is on a mission to help families terrorized by Bigfoot and prove once and for all that the fabled creature exists by killing one specimen, and providing a body of definitive scientific proof. The six-episode first season of KILLING BIGFOOT premieres Saturday, February 4 at 10/9c on Destination America. The members of GCBRO come from vastly diverse backgrounds including civil engineering, IT and corporate technology, and private investigation and surveillance. The team also includes former cops, National Guard and military veterans, a medical tech, and even a coroner’s “body removal specialist.” GCBRO’s main goal is to help those frightened by alleged recent encounters with Bigfoot, but however well-intentioned GCBRO’s mission may be, their controversial objective to kill even one Bigfoot puts them at odds with many in the crypto-zoological community who do not want to see one dead. This season of KILLING BIGFOOT includes the following episodes: Season Premiere: Saturday, February 4 at 10/9

Michael Berkeley meets Turner Prize-nominated conceptual artist and film-maker Sam Taylor-Wood, whose latest work, Nowhere Boy, documents the early life of John Lennon. Much of her work has been inspired by music, from opera to Bach, and her choices range from the opening of Gluck's opera Orfeo ed Euridice, the Kyrie from Mozart's Requiem and the opening of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony to an Indian raga and Nina Simone singing Wild Is the Wind as well as film scores by Ry Cooder and Michael Nyman. Constance dör i Salzburg 1842, 80 år gammal.Låtlista:12:03 Rudy Stevenson, Lisle Atkinson, Bobby Hamilton, Nina Simone - Wild Is The Wind Album: Four Women Kompositör: Dimitri Tiomkin Bolag: VERVE 12:05 Jimmy Scott, Ray Charles - If I Should Lose You Album: Falling In Love Is Wonderful Kompositör: Ralph Rainger, Leo Robin Bolag: RHINO RECORDS 12:06 Ronald Brautigam - Rondo In D, K 485 Kompositör: WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART Bolag: Bis 12:10 Mitsuko Uchida - Sonat För Piano Nr 12 F-Dur Kv 332: Sats 2, Adagio Album: Sonat För Piano Nr 12 F-Dur Kv 332 Adagio Kompositör: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Bolag: UNIVERSAL MUSIC 12:12 Edita Gruberova, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Zürich-Operans Orkester - Die Zauberflöte: Nr 14 Album: Die Zauberflöte Kompositör: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Bolag: TELDEC 12:14 Renée Fleming, Charles Mackerras, Orchestra Of Saint Luke's (New York) - Die Entführung Aus Dem Serail: Nr 6, Akt 1, "Ach Ich Liebte" Album: Mozart Arias Kompositör: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Bolag: DECCA 12:18 Jane Glover, London Mozart Players - Serenad Kv 361 B-Dur För 12 Blåsare & Kontrabas Album: Serenad Kv 361 B-Dur - Gran Partita Kompositör: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Bolag: NOVELLO 12:22 Jane Glover, London Mozart Players - Serenad Kv 361 B-Dur För 12 Blåsare & Kontrabas Album: Serenad Kv 361 B-Dur - Gran Partita Kompositör: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Bolag: NOVELLO 12:26 Kurt Sanderling, Bbc Northern Symphony Orchestra (Manchester) - Don Giovanni: Uvertyr Album: Don Giovanni Overture Kompositör: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Bolag: BBC RECORDS 12:29 Frederica Von Stade, Edo De Waart, Rotterdams Filharmoniska Orkester - Le Nozze Di Figaro: Nr 6 Kompositör: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Bolag: PHILIPS 12:32 Kathleen Battle, André Previn, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (London) - Vorrei Spiegarvi Oh Dio...Ah Conte (Kv 418) Album: Arior Kompositör: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Bolag: EMI 12:37 Kathleen Battle, André Previn, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (London) - Vorrei Spiegarvi Oh Dio...Ah Conte (Kv 418) Album: Arior Kompositör: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Bolag: EMI 12:40 Barbara Hendricks, Neville Marriner, Academy Of Saint Martin-In-The-Fields (London), Justin Sillman - Mässa Nr 18 C-Moll Kv 427: Nr 14, Et Incarnatus Est Album: Airs Sacrés Kompositör: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Bolag: EMI 12:46 Barbara Hendricks, Neville Marriner, Academy Of Saint Martin-In-The-Fields (London), Justin Sillman - Mässa Nr 18 C-Moll Kv 427: Nr 14, Et Incarnatus Est Album: Airs Sacrés Kompositör: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Bolag: EMI 12:49 Hans Pålsson - Fantasi För Piano Kv 396 C-Moll Album: Sonatas And Fantasias Kompositör: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Bolag: CHAMBER SOUND 12:55 Hans Pålsson - Fantasi För Piano Kv 396 C-Moll Album: Sonatas And Fantasias Kompositör: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Bolag: CHAMBER SOUND 12:58 Cheryl Studer, Neville Marriner, Academy Of Saint Martin-In-The-Fields (London) - La Clemenza Di Tito: Nr 23, Akt 2, "Non Piu Di Fiori" Album: Queen Of The Night Kompositör: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Bolag: PHILIPS
I released part one of my interview with Bobby Hamilton, here is part two of my interview. Bobby Hamilton grew up in Garrison and Jacksonville and said he has had encounters with Sasquatch. Hamilton said his first one started in the winter when he was four years-old. “I’m walking in the bedroom with my head down and I hear something scratch the screen and I look up and there is this apish looking thing with an evil grin, because I could see teeth, and it was motioning with his hand for me to come to the window,” Hamilton said. Hamilton believes East Texas is the perfect sport for sightings of the primate because of the wooded areas to hide in and the abundance of fresh water. Hamilton also said he believes the public will soon start seeing more sightings. “We are having more encounters with these things coming up to people’s houses and killing their livestock,” Because their environment is being torn down,” Hamilton said. Bobby Hamilton is a co-founder of the GCBRO. Now a days Bobby spends his free time researching and investigating reports of aggressive Sasquatch’s harassing locals. The GCBRO wants to harvest a body so that they can present real evidence to science and prove that in fact this creature does exists.
