He confesses to the revenge murder, but the chip has made Naomi gravely ill. Driving at 70-80 mph in a 35 mph zone, Mathurin ran a red light, collided with another vehicle, and fled on foot. Both vehicles were heavily damaged, and a Glock 19 was found in the Mercedes. Mathurin faces multiple charges, including theft, fleeing police, hit-and-run, and firearm possession during a crime. He was arrested that night and released on Feb. 1 on a $20,000 bond. STORY 2: Marietta Man to Appear on "The Price Is Right" in Honor of Grandmother Marietta resident Parker Branton, 30, fulfilled a lifelong dream on Thursday as he competed on “The Price Is Right,” honoring his late grandmother Judy, who inspired his love for the show. Growing up, Parker and his siblings watched the game show daily with Judy, who dreamed of attending a live taping. In fall 2024, Parker and his brother Sam traveled to California to fulfill that dream. Parker was selected to “come on down” during his first taping, an unforgettable moment he attributes to luck and his grandmother’s spirit. His episode aired Thursday at 11 a.m. on CBS and Paramount+. STORY 3: Cobb Inmate Accused of Possessing a Shank Emmanuel Torres Hernandez, 20, of Marietta, is accused of possessing a homemade weapon at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on Jan. 27. The three-inch sharpened weapon was discovered in an air vent in his cell, wrapped in a sticker bearing his name and ID number. What's up, dudes? It's a beloved holiday staple, and it's turning 70 years old! Yes, the 1954 Bing Crosby/Danny Kaye classic “White Christmas,” first released on video in 1986! Ken Kessler from Sounds of Christmas, Scott Leopold from Holly Jolly X'masu, and Jeremy Phelps the Alamo City Santa join me to reminisce about the crooner and the comic and the song that gives all the Christmas feels!Private Davis saves Captain Wallace's life in the war, and so they team up as a performing duo. As big time stars, they seek out the sisters of an old army buddy who are performing as a singing act. After rescuing the sisters from a scam, they follow them to Vermont to spend Christmas relaxing and skiing. As it turns out, the inn they're staying at is owned by their formal General.Seeing how the lack of snowfall has crippled his inn, the quartet sets out to change his fortunes. They concoct a scheme to get their old unit back together. Meanwhile, the quartet get all Hallmark-y and lovey-dovey. There are classic miscommunications and misconceptions, but all's well that ends well. Oh, and it snows, too!Musical numbers? Check. Choreographed dance sequences? For sure. Christmas? Well, at the very beginning and very end, at least. DR. CAROL LACHAPELLE: holds a PhD from UTT and Master of Arts from the University of the West Indies. She is a graduate of The London College of Dance and Drama, Dartford College of Education, University of London. Artistic Director of the La Chapelle Dance Company of Trinidad and Tobago. The first Trinidadian to gain Honours in the Royal Academy Ballet Examinations and an exhibition winner. and received her early dance training from Helen Mary Kay. Awarded an Island Scholarship she studied dance in the UK, graduating with the Progress Cup and distinctions in Dance, Drama and Education. She has collaborated with Nobel Laureate, Derek Walcott and artists like Galt Mc Dermot, composer of Hair, Roscoe Lee Brown, US, Andre Tanker, Le Roi Clarke, Greg Doran of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Elizabeth Bergmann, dance director at Harvard University and top local artists Choo Kong, Spencer, Manwarren, Machel Montano and Noble Douglas. In the UK she has worked with Greta Mendez in The Man Who Lit up the World at the Hacknet Empire and the film A Hard Rain. Choreographed the Trinidad High Commission Awards, the UK Arts production -Vodou Nation for Haiti's 200 year Independence in Haiti and at the Hackney Empire, London. Associate director and choreographer for Carnival Messiah (theatre production and film), she performed at West Yorkshire Playhouse, Harewood, Queens Hall, Royal Albert Hall, the HRH Prince Charles Charity, at the Theatre Royal, London and West Yorkshire Playhouse Galas. Artistic Director of the La Chapelle-Douglas Dance Company she presented Seasons of dance for stage and television with dancers like Natalie Rogers, (Bucket USA), Andre Largen (Alvin Ailey), Nadine Mose (Ballet Hispaniola) and Allison Brown (Carnival Queen) Diane Harvey (Forces of Nature) Mary Barnett (Alvin Ailey) Nina De Shane Gill (Grand Ballet, Canada) Bob Marley, Karen Kain, Melba Moore and Jose Feliciano. As La Chapelle Dance Company, she opened the Derek Walcott Theatre St. Lucia, performed at Florida International and she taught at Harvard as artist in Residence. Her company has toured many ineternational countries. She has worked with Peter Minshall's -Paradise Lost, River and the Atlanta Olympics and for the Opening ceremony of the Summit of the Americas with Brian McFarlane, POS.  Carol is a producer, dance educator, and presenter of seminars and workshops on dance in the Caribbean, USA and Europe and has served as an executive and term President of the National Dance Association, and as Dance Examiner (TT/Martinique), on The Foundation for the Arts (Cabinet Appointed Committee), VAPA Curriculum Design Team and is on the Board of Management of Queen's Hall. Awards include Outstanding Choreography in Theatre, 2003 for Carnival Messiah and Best Actress for Testimony, 1991. She is the Winner of five Cassique awards for Choreography in theatre, the President's Award for Excellence in the Arts, The National Dance Association Emeritus Award and International Women Award for Pioneering Women. In 2012 she received the NWAC award for Outstanding Contribution to development in the Arts. In 2019 she was honoured by The Rotary club & as a Cultural Legend by The Ministry of Culture. 2020 saw her honoured by Queens Hall on International Teachers Day. Dr. La Chapelle served as Arts coordinator and Assistant Professor in dance at UTT until 2018. She served on the VAPA team for the Diploma in Ed at UWI in 2019 and is currently MA supervisor at APA, UTT. In 1979 a new election law ended the era of single candidate elections, and theoretically ushered in an system where voters voters would have some level of choice in who their representatives would be. However despite the letter of the new law, Chinese Elections remained firmly under party control, with no real path for anyone other than party-appointed candidates to become nominated and even less of an ability for them to impact government if elected. Despite the dizzying array of votes, conferences, "opposition parties", and ceremonies, the system exists not to do Democracy, but to present the illusion, especially to the international society that democracy is being done. Join us as we discuss the grand performance that is the modern Chinese voting system.
