Kohelet famously teaches us that there is a time for everything under the sun. Does that extend to both moderation and extremism? Is there a time for moderation? Is there a time for extremism? What do our sources have to say about how we might think about the different appeals of moderation and extremism? We will consider two sources. The first is a famous love story between Rabbi Akiva and his wife Rachel. It feels like an extreme story. They fall in love, get married, and then spend two periods of 12 years apart from each other so that he can learn Torah and be a great scholar. She wants this, encourages it. The second is a teaching from Maimonides about how we should eschew extremism. Shoot for the mean. The greatest rabbi in the Talmud, Rabbi Akiva, seems to live a life that is at variance with the wisdom of our greatest medieval sage, Maimonides. How do we understand this creative tension, and what does it mean to us today?

Rev. Wendy concludes her series on "If the Church were Christian," by sharing about "Peace, Love, and Life." The theme explores the essence of Christianity through the lens of Philip Gulley's book, "If the Church Were Christian: Rediscovering the Values of Jesus," advocating for a shift towards values such as peace, love, and prioritizing life over doctrinal preoccupations. Gulley criticizes the church's emphasis on power, sexual matters, and the afterlife, urging a focus on living ethically and compassionately in the present. Ultimately, the message emphasizes Jesus' teachings of social justice, compassion, and the transformation of the world rather than a fixation on the afterlife. Summary:In the family God's love comes creating life everlasting for all. This is the plumbline we measure up to that we might return that love to Him.Show Notes:As we touch everyone with God's love, their lives are transformed. His love must control our lives.Everything that we do and say must line up to the plumb line of God's love.True perception comes as we are filled with God's love.We draw from God His love and minister it to others. As we speak God's Word to one another, we are building up His family. His love and His life are synonymous. The atmosphere created in small groups of believers lends itself for every person participating in God's love.A cry is coming out of God's people to be His love in the earth.Quotes:Whatever we do and whatever we say, the Lord's love should be infused into it.Success in the eyes of the Lord is touching somebody with His love, transforming their lives....the creativity of God only flows through His love.If you love someone enough you could say anything to them no matter how strong and they would receive it.The plum line for everything is the love of God.Only the love gives us the clear perception to see things the way they really are.One of the things we can do is freight everything we do with love. You reach into the Father, draw His love, and you send it out.As we come in to this place of recognizing who we are in the Spirit, and then speaking the Word that God puts in our hearts, we're building up the body of Christ. And the atmosphere that you have in these small groups, I would say that you have much more of a tendency to feel God's love, to participate in God's love, and to be God's love to one another.God needs a family. He's wanted a family. And I am so thankful that there is so much participation in these groups, because that's where the life is in the body that participates, where each and every joint speaks, each and every joint gives that which the Lord has given them....this is what we're saying, pour out all these things, because Your love is such a manifestation in the earth, and it's so desperately needed.References:1 Corinthians 16:14Let all that you do be done in love.Psalms 139:14(The creativity of God in love)2 Corinthians 5:14-15For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; 15 and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised1 Thessalonians 5:11-18(Building up one another in love)Isaiah 61: 1-3(The Spirit of the Lord upon us) Takeaways:As we walk on in His family His love controls us. As we continue to speak His Word to one another in His love, we are filled to overflowing and begin to pour out His love to the whole earth.

In this episode of the Intimate Marriage podcast, Alexandra Stockwell, MD dives into confidence and how it shapes success in love and life. She sheds light on the crucial role of self-confidence and how attractive it is within intimate relationships, and more specifically, how it plays out among ambitious, educated couples.  Dr Alexandra explores the common scenario where one partner craves more from their relationship while the other seems content with the status quo. She provides guidance on how to reignite passion and cultivate a deeper sense of self-worth, emphasizing the magnetic power of confidence as one of the ultimate keys to a more fulfilling and vibrant partnership.    Also in this episode: Confidence is the most attractive quality in a partner and a fundamental ingredient for a passionate and thriving marriage. Seeking affirmation and validation from a partner creates an unhealthy parent-child dynamic, which is detrimental for erotic connection. The best course of action for someone feeling needy or rejected is to focus on developing their own sense of value and self-worth. Bringing one's confident, successful self (with authenticity, not bravado) from your professional life into your personal relationship is a pivot that will result in a significant improvement in intimacy.   Subscribe To The Intimate Marriage Podcast: Apple Podcast | YouTube | Spotify Connect With Alexandra Stockwell, MD: Website | Linkedin | Instagram   Get your copy of “Uncompromising Intimacy” by Dr. Alexandra Stockwell here: https://amzn.to/2ymI3Hl Download the first chapter of Dr Alexandra's bestselling book, “Uncompromising Intimacy,” here:  https://www.alexandrastockwell.com/book Cultivate your intimacy skills (without compromise) in Aligned & Hot Marriage, Dr. Alexandra's proven method for smart couples ready to love more fully:  www.alignedhotmarriage.com Join Dr. Alexandra's email list to stay connected.
