How is every single one of these about a poor dumdum uncovering a rich douchebag's heart of gold? We will be hibernating for December, in hopes that we'll get some dramas worth checking out in 2022. Happy holidays and happy New Year!   Digressions:   1:51 - New Patreon donor and Listener E-mails! 14:14 - On a whim, Judy tried out "Inspector Koo" (구경이), starring Lee YoungAe. It's pretty watchable and has a great supporting cast. 16:51 - "The Handmaiden" (아가씨) is a hauntingly memorable film. It was directed by Park ChanWook, who also directed the Vengeance series of films. 18:27 - A notorious dictator is dead! Judy celebrated by watching "A Taxi Driver" (택시운전사), a 2017 film about the 1980 Gwangju Uprising. 21:03 - "Arcane" is a Netflix animated series based in the "League of Legends" universe and is an amazing show, even if you have never played the video game. 22:36 - Judy has been walking down the anime nostalgia lane with the 2019 series, "Fruits Basket" (フルーツバスケット). Ignore the stereotypical shoujo fantasy premise and focus on the message about friends, family and helping each other heal from trauma.   25:21 - "The Heirs" (왕관을 쓰려는 자, 그 무게를 견뎌라 – 상속자들) is an SBS drama from 2013, starring Lee MinHo, Park ShinHye, Kim JiWon and Kim WooBin. Ah yes, rich people problems and English-speaking "actors", Judy's favourite things in a drama. 35:50 - "Princess Hours" (궁) is a 2006 MBC drama set in an alternate universe in which Korea has a constitutional monarchy. It stars Yoon EunHye, Ju JiHoon and Song JiHyo. Yoon EunHye is playing pretty much the same character as in "Coffee Prince", a spunky girl who has to save her family from poverty. 43:17 - "Master's Sun" (주군의 태양) is a 2013 SBS drama, starring So JiSub and Gong HyoJin. Linda didn't manage to finish the episode, so Judy struggles to recap the latter half, which is absolutely bonkers. 54:30 - "Full House" (풀하우스) is a 2004 KBS drama, starring Rain and Song HyeKyo. Words cannot adequately express just how awful this drama was. Gong Yoo's character is your typical rich pretty boy who mooches off his family, while Yoon EunHye's character is more spunky and fun! 35:07 - "My Girlfriend is a Gumiho" (내 여자친구는 구미호) is a 2010 SBS fantasy drama. Lee SeungGi's character is a poor imitation of Gong Yoo's character from "Coffee Prince". We carry our sins on our backs and wear our hearts on our sleeves in this episode! Eun Chan hangs ten on an active highway while The Han Seong Hate Train™ fully departs the station! Donkey Kong joins the battle, and we discover this show has very low TTK (Time to Kiss™).

Sometimes you have a nice afternoon in a coffee house while enjoying a drink. The staff is hot, the manager is dating an employee, and the old man behind the counter really knows his stuff. You like the art on the wall and the music they play here- but you can't help but feel sadder the more empty your cup becomes. No peace can last forever though since you've gotta take the salt with the pepper, and nothing says ‘Bad Times Ahead' like the worst couple realizing that they're going to be jointly responsible for raising a child. But ugh, we can't not be happy for them! I mean just look at how happy they are!!

It's so good AND we love it! How will our favorite coffee boys solve the Big Bean Debacle™? Shake both of your dog's paws and set your bean machines to “Roast,” because this episode we discover Han Seong's true age and add waffles and male bonding to the menu!

The gloves come off this episode! There's a lot of punchin' and we get held captive like two kids in the backseat of the worst ride to the airport imaginable! Han Seong enters the Santa-zone while Sun Gi dips his toes into democratic socialism. If the hate train can question whether it's justified in its mission, perhaps we too can find it in our hearts to let go of our grudges. Whatever happens in a relationship you have to ask yourself “is it pastable for me to live without them?"

This episode is a long one because we have a lot of feelings just like Han Gyul and Eun Chan, except different because we actually talk about those feelings! Our staycation in Cute Town is interrupted by a layover in Trope City, which reroutes our whole flight through Depression Country. I know you're supposed to take the good with the bad but c'mon, there's a limit! Don't make us like characters and then show them bullying each other at work!! Apparently to avoid hurting people you shouldn't lose sight of what it is that you wa- IS HE PUTTING RAW TOMATO ON A WAFFLE?? **This episode contains mentions of sexual assault, as well as discussion about its use as a trope in romance media. This episode hurt us emotionally and we are very sad!! CB's gotta carry the boxes so Eun Sae can help him unpack their toxic relationship, and Sun Gi heel clicks in traffic while Ha Rim's busted ankle reminds us of Han Seong's busted relationship. Pro tip: don't let the old woman know you got your ears pierced, or she'll dissect your relationship drama with terrifying accuracy! Also, maybe Han Gyul has another dad?? I guess?????

Jeron's expectations get sidestepped fast enough to give him whiplash, leaving us with a lot of questions! Would you let go of what you have to reach for what you want? Do you even have time to contemplate that after you've seen Han Gyul's weird shirt? Would you accuse a sickly old woman over a few dollars? Can you afford not to?! How the HECK do you hide those titties?!?!

What do you need to build a pyramid? Three love triangles and denial! Happy episode Shreven! Sadly, no Shrek this time around (unacceptable, we know!!!) Instead, you can tune in as we take coffee orders in the emotional crossfire! The only way out? Get your heart JACKED by practicing eyes-closed hugs and drinking with a dog in public. We sincerely hope none of your coworkers ever act like Eun Chan and Han Gyul!!

A lot of things happened in this episode, but we really aren't sure what any of them are because we're too focused on the fact that Shrek the Third is canonically part of the Coffee Prince universe! Maybe Han Seong did something bad again? He usually does that. If we had to guess, this episode we might've accidentally opened a portal to Bizarro World Coffee Prince? Also we're not sure but we might've heard some valid criticisms and explored some EXTREMELY WELL KNOWN and CLASSIC tropes. If we're lucky, maybe just maybe some of the build up from previous episodes will pay off!

We made a big slippy, so this week the audio quality is lacking BUT the content is slapping!! In this episode, CB becomes a knight of Eun Chan and we wonder what kind of peanut butter he is. Then we hop in the company vehicle, the Car-fee Prince, and boogie on down to the orchard where Han Gyul goofs with someone's livelihood in a major way, yikes! Coffee Prince is the story of Eun-chan, a young woman who pretends to be a man in order to get a job, and her romance with Han-gyul, a rich young man who falls in love with her despite not knowing she's actually a woman.   Things we cover this episode include: A very detailed analysis of just how hot Gong Yoo is in this (oh okay, we also talk about his acting talent) Is Han-gyul bi or gay? Is Eun-chan gender fluid? Why the hell did Eun-chan wait so long to come out to Han-gyul? Was it because she was afraid to lose him or something more? Yoo-joo and Eun-chan are more alike that you think. They're both women living like men to survive in a man's world. Meanwhile, Han-sung is manipulative, selfish and generally problematic a-f.  The Coffee Princes are all adorable and we spend a fair bit of time squeeing and fangirling them.
