Shaun Randall, the author of A Peace of My Mind and Words Like Wine, recently released his debut novel, Letters From Lima. The new book takes readers on a journey inside a world they never knew existed to uncover truth and discover themselves all over again. In March 2020, Randall took a vacation to Lima, Perú, with no idea what was in store for him on that fateful trip. He met Eliet. 15 months later they were engaged and they now make their home together in Barranco, Perú. What started as a way to get away and clear his head became an adventure filled with two years of intense writing and revision—all while living in South America's most vibrant city. Originally from San Diego, California, Randall also spent time as an adolescent in Portland, Oregon; Colorado Springs, Colorado; and South Florida. Living on the coasts and in the mountains, instilled a wonder and love for our natural world. In 2008, Shaun moved to Chicago, Illinois. The urban setting heavily influenced his life and work. Randall through his writing and manifestation training aims to help people find inner peace and contentment amidst the chaos of modern life. Ancient Latin American wisdom and Eastern philosophies permeate Randall's work while he employs a dry sense of humor and Zen-like deadpan in his writing. His unique style encourages readers to look inward in order to make decisions for themselves, rather than be swayed by external influences. He strives to help people choose their own paths and embrace the miracle that is reality. Shaun Randall says, “While exploring Perú and writing Letters From Lima, I had countless life-changing experiences as I interacted with the rich tapestry of human history set in the incredible natural wonders of Perú. My passion is sharing the insights I've learned: that happiness, fulfillment, and a sense that we deserve to be loved—are found inside each of us. There is not something we can search for, and find externally, that will provide meaning or lasting joy. We already have everything we need.” For more information, visit shaun-randall.com --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sweetestlittlelife/message

If you put on your air pods to stream Lou Beauty's music on Spotify, you may hear lush synths, soulful grooves, and dreamy soundscapes, but if you listen closer, what you're really listening to is an artist's melodic pursuit of creativity set to the beat of their curiosity. Luis Velez, a communications major at CSU Bakersfield, is the musician behind this self-described “synthpop & bedroom indie project,” professionally known as Lou Beauty. He has been writing music since he was in middle school, honing his craft performing in talent shows throughout high school, and is now curating his curiosities in a number of creative endeavors while in university. Velez has been busy, acting in the short film “ Lou Beauty (https://open.spotify.com/artist/0JKuuHkrlHNJqlFajTgZjb?si=Agp2bvkZT-2u47zzohBT6A) . Each creative venture may function as a means of satisfying a momentary curiosity, but what's driving this creative pursuit is an everlasting push to become a better artist. “I want to get better in my own songwriting, my own production. So every time I write, every time I produce something, it's just in an effort to really better myself as a creator and as an artist,” Velez states. Where Lou Beauty's adventures might lead is still to be determined, but when asked what the future holds, Velez confidently responds, “I see myself thinner, but not too thin. Definitely.” #CSUB #CSUBakersfield #RunnerStream #CMedia ✔️Subscribe to Runner Stream on YouTube ✔️Subscribe to Runner Stream on Apple ✔️Subscribe to Runner Stream on Spotify Runner Stream on Social Media: ► Follow on Instagram --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/runner-stream/message

What an emotional last couple of days it's been! The Infinity Saga is finally over and boy howdy! Do we have some thoughts. But before we get into that we discuss the trailers for Ang Lee's 'Gemini Man' starring Will Smith and Will Smith and also the trailer for 'Men in Black International' NOT starring Will Smith but instead Thor and Valkyrie themselves, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. 00:00 – Intro and chat: Tom’s a grump and Dee’s a ray of sunshine 03:00 – Tom’s school-run misadventures 03:52 – Let’s talk nerdy stuff: Gemini Man trailer – Will Smith versus Will Smith, clone versus original in an Ang Lee sci-fi spectacular. 09:56 – Speaking of Will Smith circa 1997, let’s talk about the trailer for Men in Black International and also briefly talk about the original Men in Black trilogy 14:40 – Avengers: Endgame review (NO SPOILERS) 24:33 – Spoiler Talk – in which Tom repeatedly calls characters by their wrong name such as calling Nebula Gamorah and even calling Tony Stark, TONY FREAKING STARK, Howard! We've all been sick but we managed to claw ourselves out of bed and into the studio. After last episode's discussion of 90's-set Captain Marvel we decided to revisit the 90's, the era of 'girl power' and look at some kickass women of 90's cinema. Turns out we were in for quite a culture shock. Tom goes on some of his usual social rants so be warned. 00:00 – Intro and sickly chat; Dee’s not well this week but it’s been a calamitous period for the whole family 02:49 – Avengers Endgame leaks and ACCIDENTALLY tripping on spoilers 06:20 – TRAILER: Star Wars; the Rise of Skywalker (with a sprinkling of trolling from Tom). What does the title mean? Does Luke return or does ‘Skywalker’ refer to something else? 13:19 – Let’s talk the female action heroes and the scarcity of female action heroes in the 90’s. The rule is that it the movie had to be a vehicle for the Female Action Hero. 16:06 – Film No. 1: Tank Girl starring Lori Petty, Malcolm McDowell and Naomi Watts. Is it as good as Tom remembers and is it as good as Dee was expecting? Nope! Overall it is a very problematic film but for the time is kind of ground-breaking which is kind of sad when you think about it . 40:06 – That time Tom was in the test audience for an embarrassing film 41:09 – Film No. 2: The Quick and the Dead starring Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, Russel Crowe and Leonardo DiCaprio. Again, is it as good as Tom remembers and is it as good as Dee was expecting? Double Nope! Sharon Stone is essentially relegated to B-Plot in her own film. 58:26 – Let’s move on and talk about a film we really love: Film No. 3: The Long Kiss Goodnight starring Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson, written by Shane Black and Directed by Renny Harlin. It is one of our favourite films, it’s as good and as camp and as cheesy as we always remember it. 01:11:00 – A quick aside about Cat-Calling because of something that happens in the film 01:14:03 – Back to The Long Kiss Goodnight 01:22:26 – The Long Kiss Goodnight’s legacy and the shape of female lead action movies today 01:28:10 – Dee’s homework: Captain Marvel; the 2014 run of comics. 01:35:20 – Tom’s Homework: A Study in Emerald by Neil Gaiman 01:40:47 – This week’s homework assignment: Tracy Queen and the Oneshi Press Annual Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker except it's 'What's Up Danger' Do your usual Amazon shop while helping us at no extra cost to yourself!
