Il s'est d'abord illustré avec les Marvel Babies, une version parodique et enfantine des héros Marvel. Puis, il a cartonné chez Image Comics avec I Hate Fairyland, l'histoire déjantée d'une petite fille piégée dans un monde de contes de fées, sombrant peu à peu dans la folie. Skottie Young a déjà collaboré avec Jorge Corona sur Ce que tu aimes dans les ténèbres, un titre qu'on avait beaucoup apprécié dans l'émission. Cette fois, ils reviennent avec une fusion aussi inédite qu'audacieuse : le western fantastique. Un duel avec la Mort dans un western fantastiqueRyder est une ancienne criminelle, reconvertie en mère de famille, menant une vie paisible avec son mari et sa fille. Tout bascule lorsqu'elle apprend qu'elle est condamnée par la maladie. Plutôt que d'attendre la fin, elle décide de reprendre les armes et d'aller défier la Mort elle-même.L'intrigue mélange action effrénée, émotions fortes et réflexion sur la fatalité. À travers son périple, Ryder affronte bien plus que des adversaires… Elle traverse les différentes étapes du deuil, symbolisées par chaque chapitre : le déni, la colère, le marchandage, la tristesse et l'acceptation. Un concept brillant qui ajoute une profondeur inattendue à ce western hors norme. Jorge Corona au sommet de son artSi vous avez aimé le trait énergique et expressif de Jorge Corona dans Ce que tu aimes dans les ténèbres, préparez-vous à être bluffé. Ici, son dynamisme narratif atteint un niveau supérieur, avec des scènes d'action spectaculaires et ultra-fluides. Chaque personnage a un design percutant, et les différents environnements traversés par Ryder sont un régal pour les yeux. Le style unique de Corona apporte une identité visuelle forte, renforcée par une mise en page inspirée et un sens du mouvement impressionnant. It's time to go back to Fairyland! We loved the first volume of Skottie Young's I Hate Fairyland when we read it back in 2020, so we thought we'd check out volume 2.
