Rained in on a paradise of a tropical island in French Polynesia.. Not complaining as things could be a LOT worse!! Yet once the board games were exhausted, emails read and answered and even slotted a gym session, the urge to create something took over. Hence uploading a little one, which appeared to have soothed the rather gloomy family mood.. Once back home, I will very shortly upload about 6 Deep House sets, the live NYD one and a set I really would like to offer to the community at large called "God is a DJ".. Unique original creations, amazing deep voice and lyrics that actually mean something. We are blessed to have her. As to this remix, I have been wanting to open a set with it for a long time . The bass line, the drums add a tragic dimension to a track that was already perfection.. "Guess" one of those little gems, by far not as simple as the synth hook would make you feel. If you take time to hear the rolling bass line it is pure genius and sustain the melodic throughout the song. "Sent from Above' Scott Wozniak take on the old soulful standard. Scott showing one more time that he is one of the best ( if not the best) keyboard player in house music. He always adds an edge depth and weight to a track through his keys, . Impeccable production! Scott just crowd sourced the production of his first artist album, I can't wait for the result. "If You Take My Love" from Kings of Soul.. By that time the set had taken a more heavy turn than anticipated and this track came as the obvious drop. Another BIG BIG bassline, this is sexy soulful house as I would LOVE to hear in a club and I ( modestly) think the paring with Sender was an inspired fluke. "Sender" from Paco.. whatever this is.. Progressive, Deep, Indie.. I do not care! it is SO GOOD! Great production, great wide atmosphere.. Double dose of "The Pressure" with Beverley Knight as the ever amazing vocalist.. Progressive, sexy, soulful.. I guess I needed "release" as well after looking at the never ending tropical rain for 6 hours :) "All About That Love" I love Roland Clark, and will always do. Most of you know that already. It was time in the set to go a bit deeper and once agian Roland served it up. Because " it is all about that rhythm, all about that love".. "Deep Down the Underground" there are a few deep tech house tracks I love and this is the perfect example of what someone like Mike Dunn can do.. creating new sound, creating new beats.. Long life to those artists! By now I felt like bringing a bit of sugar and "Balearica" was the obvious tune to drop.. I thought of truncating it as I knew I was about to run over the CD format but I doubt I will have to cut any CD of this one therefore here it is as a whole track with the amazing acoustic guitar in the second part of the track. Great percussion, perfect production. Which takes us to Petros Mitolis little medley.. Petros Mitolis. greek german deep and sexy house producer.. I will never do him justince but please listen to his tracks and purchase them, deep, sexy soulful, wide, with imppecable production.. The best way I can describe his sounds... The perfection of Germany with the style and sexyness of Greece. "Prove this Love" and "Taste This Love", if you like deep, sexy House buy both releases, there is a lot more there than I can showcase. "All This Love For You" one of my base track when I want to go back to the roots of house and close a set.. Simple architecture, spoken words, which tell better than I ever would all the love I have for House Music.. Back as soon as I am on a faster internet speed.   Happy New Year!!!!   Xtian

The Pirate Set is a yearly fixture of this podcast.   Live from the Pirate Bar in Hydra (Greece), courtesy of Wendy, Takis, Zeus and Zara Bouchlas.. Undoubtedly the best and most friendly bar in Greece.   Old classics from 2009/2010 with new soulful tracks.   The set was running along nicely until I drop Sergio Flores’ “ Hold On”, then pure magic.. Punters looking up and giving me the thumb up, massive smile on their faces, hands up in the air, even some conspicuous sparkle in the eyes of the hotties for the old grey-haired fat guy on the decks!!!!!   There is no better high for a DJ than getting THAT FEEDBACK!! The Sun Set   As played on the 5th of July at the Sunset Bar Hydra..   Soulful and hopefully smooth chilled grooves most of them release in June 2013. The whole idea was to create the appropriate soundscape to accompany the sunset, which picture up above can even pretend to depict the true glory and purity of what we were seeing.. I had thought for months how and when to use the French accapella, finally I got the opportunity to use it to death! The sun sat at 1 hour 4 minutes at which time I dropped the sample (yet again) to Sean McCabe’s jam “Move”.. Deeply Twisted Sexy Tribal Affair..   Have had this set on my HD since NYD.. It is the After Party Set.. If you have no idea what an after-party is,  it’s what happens when the main crowd has long gone home.. Whoever is left has somewhat survived the night, as for the DJ on the decks.. well same thing... After Party sets are different to main sets. They are ALL about the Beat & the Bass! Both the Beat & Bassline will (or won’t) bring the punters back to the Dance floor. Tunes do not need to be commercial (whoever is left is usually either f@cked up or really committed to Jack). Normally only tight crews are left, they were here to dance and sipped it to the last drop/beat.. The whole idea of an After Party set is to slowly but surely put the spark back in the eyes of whoever is left and not totally comatose. For DJs, it can be a real treat because they have total creative freedom with revelers they know will get it IF the music is good. Those sets are twisted routes to bring back tired and spacy house-heads back to peak time and put one last smile on their faces before they say their goodbyes, hug, put their sunglasses on and are ready for the walk of shame....  Here is my After Party set.. On the darker side of Deep, with a bit of Sexy Tribal and enough Funk not to completely lose you.  Some sugar but a lot of spices and PA. I had  fun for a lot of the tunes were not in my "zone", furthermore I was pleasantly surprised that I could handle those tricky beats.  As a whole journey, I, for one maybe, would soooo get it.. Give it a listen and if at times you find it twisted, persevere and push yourself. In the live version, the tune was coupled with a Jaime Lewis/Kim Cooper track, I rejigged the set this month because I thought that both tracks were too similar and somewhat the Lewis' one, was taking the shine off Petros' production. Then I had to find a monster track which would fit and I could tweak to blend in.. The Kevin Yos/Ben Watt Edit of EBTG Five Fathoms was just perfect.. Massive track but not overpowering "Welcome to My World" Petros Mitolis' production are selling on Traxsource. Follow this link and please support this very talented artist. "All this Love for You" from Ralph Gum just perfect and the adlib is very tight. Love the Jaime Lewis take on Prince's new track "Rock and Roll Love Affair". Their current collaboration is giving Prince's creations the house edge they need to cross to the dancefloor. I am not unhappy of my edit of Hombostel's "Fire". I worked on two fairly poor accapella samples but the track did not suffer too much. Party Non Stop from "Pirupa". Had to be somewhere as it was one of the big track of Ibiza 2012. As for Nang Bang, anyone who knows me will tell you that I would never miss the occasion to put Mr V in a set.. Then 2 cooky Frankie Knuckles tracks, "Back2 NY" and the anthemic "Your Love",  taken from his last album released late 2012. New takes on old tracks which fitted snuggly. As said, if you stay with me on this one from A to Z, you will be rewarded. **WARNING NOT FOR MINORS ** Deep in my kind of Groove A few months ago this podcast was selected (as part of a random sample of online music), for a doctoral study by the Musicology Dept of UMich. Amongst the "open" questions I was asked was the following one: " Are there any of your sets you would like to make public but haven't due to self-censorship or fear that your target audience will not be interested?" Got me thinking.. This set is an example of what I would not have normaly published.. Yet.. it is MY KIND OF GROOVE.. It has a bit of sugar, a bit on underground house, great deep meaningful tunes and a dash of indie/house and lots of vocal samples. By "my kind of groove" I do not infer that this music is "better" or anything of the sort.. Just that it is "my kind of Groove.." **WARNING NOT FOR MINORS ** Before I get any messages and/or rantings on promotings drugs, let me make the following crystal clear: I do not condone drugs, prescribed or illegal. Drugs f@ck up people. As to marijuana in particular, the research is there for everyone to make the educated clever choice. There is a clear correlation between Marijuana and psychotic episodes on younger not fully formed brains. This is not an inference, but a statiscally significant correlation between usage and mental health in 15 to 25 y.o. Since the research cannot identify the genetic cluster, using Dope puts young minds at risk as no one knows if he/she may or may not be affected.  So DRUGS NOT MY KIND OF GROOVE AT ALL... MUSIC YES! This being said why did I use the 50's samples? Because this mix is, as said in the Intro, what I had mixed but never wanted to publickly upload.. And if you follow me, you know that I have a HUGE weakness for vocal samples.. Be it cinematic or doctoral lectures etc.. And I was not going to sit on this sample forever!!
