"The Devil's Gift" oraz amatorskiej produkcji "The Monkey" z 2023 roku, nakręconej w ramach projektu Dollar Babies. W 679. odcinku podcastu Radio SK w talerze wali Hubert "Mando" Spandowski, a na bębenku rytm wybija Michał "Jerry" Rakowicz. Oczekiwanie na filmową "Małpę" wkracza w ostatnią fazę, którą spróbujemy umilić dzisiejszą audycją. Zapraszamy!Jeżeli podoba ci się to co robię to możesz mnie wesprzeć nahttps://patronite.pl/radiosk

Out from behind the paywall is the first episode of our new weekly series, King Me Babies, in which we discuss short films produced as part of Stephen King's Dollar Baby program. You've probably heard us mention the Dollar Babies on the show: since the late '70s, Stephen King has allowed independent filmmakers to produce non-commercial adaptations of select works of his for the low, low price of one dollar. In addition to giving us the opportunity to discuss Frank Darabont's first-ever film (available now on Patreon), we also get to reassess some stories already produced as commercial films. In the most technical sense, The Lawnmower Man is one such story. To access all of our bonus content, head over here: https://www.patreon.com/kingmepod?fan_landing=true
On todays podcast, Tommy and Bob start off blaming each other for taking so long to record the podcast and discuss STD's/Aids vs Herpes. The great Bill Rupp joins the show to take his (potential) victory lap about Elon Musk's Twitter deal possibly falling apart. The guy's discuss the fat swimsuit model for Sports Illustration, the fake paintball gun used in Ukraine, Tommy goes IN on Trump and Adrenochrome is going mainstream! The guys wrap the show discussing the baby formula shortage and how Bill Gates coincidentally has his own baby formula company ready to go and Bob struggles to open a PS5 at the end. SURE, YOU'VE SEEN THE SHINING AND PET SEMATARY, BUT HAVE YOU SEEN ANY OF THE DOLLAR BABIES? THAT FAMOUS FAILED BROADWAY SHOW? THAT MOTION COMIC SPONSORED BY A MOBILE COMPANY? It would be futile to think anyone would come to us at Genre Grinder for a Stephen King episode, especially considering how many fantastic podcasts are already devoted exclusively to the author's work, but what about those oddball adaptations that didn't get an international theatrical release? Join Gabe and returning guest Betsy Jorgensen of Your Favorite Monsters podcast as they take a look at four truly unique King adaptations, including John Woodward's Disciples of the Crow (one of the earliest of King's Dollar Babies, 1985), Michael Gore/Dean Pitchford's Carrie: The Musical (or at least a combination of filmed versions), a 25-episode motion comic micro-series based on Stephen King's N. (2008), and Anurag Kashyap's surrealistic, Bollywood black comedy No Smoking (2007). 00:00 – Intro 06:31 – Disciples of the Crow (and other Dollar Babies) 30:27 – Carrie: The Musical 1:12:05 – Stephen King's N. 1:33:31 – No Smoking 1:53:09 – Outro Check out Shawn S. Wkrótce rozpocznie się duża impreza Stephen King Rules, a w miniony weekend mieliśmy okazję wziąć udział w wydarzeniu o nieco mniejszej skali o nazwie King on Screen, w trakcie którego można było obejrzeć jedenaście produkcji, w tym długo wyczekiwany przez ekipę Radia SK „Kucyk”. This week, Kat returns! We recorded a commentary track for Frank Darabont's 1994 debut, The Shawshank Redemption. We talk about Stephen King's Dollar Babies, Tim Robbins thirst, Roger Deakins, recast the movie with Muppets, and much more. You can rent The Shawshank Redemption right now at all the usual places. Watch along with us starting at 31:47! You'll hear Bob Gunton yell "NOW!" For Top Five this week, Kat brought Top Five Quotes from Walk Hard. On this episode, I face my own redemption for covering Clea DuVall's second feature, Happiest Season, on accident. How we do that, exactly, is up to you to find out. For our charity this week, we're highlighting Hackney Foodbank. They provide three days of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. They're part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. And, while the snow in Texas is over, many are still struggling to recover from the damage done. Please donate to a mutual aid fund or food bank in Texas today. This week Kyle and Matthew sit down with comedian Billy Anderson and Taco Bell grandma Becky Joiner to talk about Stephen King movie adaptations. Kyle thinks we're currently in a "Kingassaince." They unpack the different versions of The Shining, which leads to a nice chat about what makes a good movie versus what makes a good book. They also discuss how Kyle and Billy's friendship comes from their mutual love of The Stand TV miniseries. They work through all the classic King adaptations (and a few of the not so classics) and also chat about how the non-canonical Pet Sematary 2 is pretty great. They explore the evolution of King's themes through the decades and how those themes have been addressed in film. Plus, they point out that there is an Annie Wilkes lurking inside of every nerd. They also propose how much cooler it would have been if the second season of Stranger Things had flashed forward to the kids as adults. Finally, they talk about their cautious optimism for the new It movie, and Kyle encourages everyone to check out the upcoming Gerald's Game adaptation for Netflix. Palmer & Dave dig deep into Jean-Claude Van Damme and his 1989 post-apocalyptic kick-em-up CYBORG—from its failed origins as a moody, black-and-white, heavy-metal opera called SLINGER to its sucessfully star-approved theatrical and Cannon Films home-video release. The boys are also joined by 80’s-tastic singer and musical mastermind behind the LWSD theme song, Tommy Maplewood! Plus, in this week’s “King Corner,” Palmer proposes a LWSD-produced radio-drama-style audio adaptation of one of Stephen King’s short stories under his “Dollar Babies” licensing deal and a LWSD listener SK book club. Stephen King has over 50 feature films based on his writings. But beyond the feature films are hundreds of student-made short films based on King's short stories, completely authorized by the author. In an attempt to help student filmmakers King sells non-exclusive rights for one dollar; he calls these films his "Dollar Babies." As part of the contract these films can not be distributed or sold; however, in the 1980s three Dollar Babies were renegotiated and saw professional release. On a direct-to-VHS series called The Night Shift Collection student adaptations of King's short stories "Children of the Corn" (title changed to Disciples of the Crow for film), "The Boogeyman", and "The Woman in the Room" were distributed--the last title directed by Frank Darabont, who would go on to direct professional King adaptations The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Mist! So join Arnie, Jakob, and Stuart as they go back to school and review The Night Shift Collection!
