As the people of God go to worship Him, their lives are filled with joy to realize that His gracious restoration is reality. The nations see this same truth and hallow the name of the LORD, even as His own people experience the relief of His grace. God's people pray that He would bring His restoration suddenly, so that even as they do their work in sorrow now, they will one day reap in a season of joy because God has kept His promise.  Rev. Stephen Preus, pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, IA, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Psalm 126.  To learn more about Trinity in Vinton, visit trinitylcmsvinton.org. Join Sharper Iron this spring to study selected Psalms. In the Psalter, God speaks His Word to us and teaches us how to speak back to Him in prayer. Even in the great variety of the Psalms, each one points us to our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Fresh off his wrestling match with God, Jacob looks up to see his brother and his four hundred men approaching. With wisdom, Jacob divides his household and goes in front of them all to meet his brother with humility. The joy of the reconciliation of these two brothers is evident from both men. Jacob confesses before Esau all the blessings that God has bestowed upon him, and Jacob freely shares these blessings with Esau. However, Jacob does not journey together with Esau, lest Jacob's family grow tired or be tempted toward idolatry by Esau's extended family.  Rev. Stephen Preus, pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, IA, joins host Rev. Such Christian thanksgiving is found in the heart and shows forth into the voice and hands as well. God is the One who knits us together in our mothers' wombs, and He is the One who guides us in the way, His Son, Jesus. We pray that He would bless us bounteously, not only according to the 4th Petition, but according to all His gifts promised in the Lord's Prayer. Tackling The Mafia And Dangers of Informants: Retired FBI Agent Speaks. Special Episode. “This is a part of FBI work the public almost never sees,” Vinton explains. “When you're Tackling The Mafia And the Dangers of Informants, you're operating in a world where loyalty is a currency, and betrayal can cost lives or careers.” Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast social media like their Facebook , Instagram , LinkedIn , Medium and other social media platforms. In a powerful Special Episode now streaming on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast website, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and most every major Podcast platform, retired FBI agent and author Tom Vinton offers a rare, firsthand look into the world of organized crime, dangerous informants, and the internal risks faced by federal investigators. Promoted across Facebook, Instagram, and other News outlets, the episode takes listeners deep into the heart of New York's most violent Mafia crime families, and into the shadows where informants and agents walk a thin line between justice and treachery. Inside the Mafia Wars of the 1980s The episode dives into the turbulent 1980s, a decade defined by upheaval within the Gambino Crime Family, from the Crime Boss's leadership to his shocking 1985 assassination and the meteoric rise of another Boss. Vinton recalls the era as one marked by international heroin trafficking, brutal territorial battles, and the historic Mafia Commission Trial, which took aim at the leadership of all five New York Mafia families. Tackling The Mafia And Dangers of Informants: Retired FBI Agent Speaks. Special Episode. Look for supporting articles about this and much more from Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast in platforms like Medium , Blogspot and Linkedin . “The Commission Trial was a seismic shift,” Vinton says. “For the first time, the FBI could expose how the families cooperated, organized, and profited. It changed the direction of organized crime investigations forever.” The Perils of Informants: “A Necessary Evil” Vinton's book, Sanctioned Treachery: Portrait of a Drug Informant, becomes a centerpiece of the episode. Based on his decades-long career investigating organized crime and supervising the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, the novel brings to life the dangerous dance between agents and the informants they rely on. “Informants are both indispensable and incredibly risky,” Vinton notes. “Some agents have had their careers destroyed, or even ended up in jail, because they trusted the wrong person.” Tackling The Mafia And Dangers of Informants: Retired FBI Agent Speaks. Available for free on their website and streaming on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast platforms. The book follows fictional FBI agent Eddie Michaels and his informant Alonzo “King” Curtis, a charismatic but ruthless operator whose moral compass is as fluid as the criminal underworld he moves through. Drawing on real-life cases, Vinton reveals how informants can both solve major crimes and simultaneously jeopardize investigations, or the agents themselves. “This could have happened,” Vinton says plainly. “Some of it did.” A Career Built on Crime-Fighting and Storytelling Tom Vinton's own story is as compelling as the cases he describes. Born in New Rochelle and a graduate of Holy Cross, he served as a Marine Corps infantry officer before joining the FBI. His assignments took him ultimately to New York, where he supervised massive organized crime and drug investigations. The Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show and Podcast episode is available for free on their website , Apple Podcasts , Spotify and most major podcast platforms. After retiring from the Bureau, Vinton became Deputy Commissioner of the Westchester County Police and launched a consulting business. But writing remained a passion. Tackling The Mafia And Dangers of Informants. “A professor once told me that writing would serve me no matter what career I chose,” Vinton recalls. “He was right. These stories needed to be told.” Originally published in 2005, Sanctioned Treachery was lost when the publisher went bankrupt. Now updated, re-edited, and released, it's earning renewed praise. One early review called it “a grand thriller… an exciting breath-holding adventure disguised as fiction.” How the FBI Fights Organized Crime Throughout the episode, Vinton breaks down how the FBI tackles criminal enterprises, not just individuals, using tools like: Undercover operations Court-authorized wiretaps and surveillance Asset forfeiture Informants and cooperating witnesses Inter-agency task forces RICO statutes “The goal is to dismantle the entire infrastructure of a criminal organization,” Vinton says. “Not just arrest a few people. We target the enterprise, its money, its leadership, its operations.” Tackling The Mafia And Dangers of Informants: Retired FBI Agent Speaks. Special Episode. The full podcast episode is streaming now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. A Must-Listen Episode for True Crime Fans For those interested in the FBI, Mafia history, or the high-stakes world of criminal informants, this Special Episode delivers unmatched insight. “It's a reminder,” Vinton says, “that the line between justice and danger is thinner than the public ever realizes.” Listeners can tune in on the Law Enforcement Talk Radio Show website, on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube, and most every major Podcast platform and follow updates on Facebook, Instagram, and other major News outlets. During the same years that the LORD spoke through the prophet Isaiah, the LORD also spoke through the prophet Micah. Micah's preaching begins with a call for all peoples to pay attention to the LORD who is coming for judgment. The LORD calls out both Samaria and Jerusalem for their idolatry, which will receive God's just punishment. As Micah describes the mourning that will take place because of this destruction, he uses wordplays on names of towns both big and small, for the LORD's judgment comes against them all.  Rev. Stephen Preus, pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, IA, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Micah 1:1-16.  To learn more about Trinity Lutheran, visit trinitylcmsvinton.org. “Majoring in the Minors” is a mini-series on Sharper Iron that goes through the books of Hosea, Joel, Jonah, Micah, and Nahum. Although the books of these prophets are shorter, the Word of God they preached was important in the years leading up to the coming of the Christ, and that Word remains important for the Church today. Just as we still need to listen to their call to repentance over our idolatry, so we still need to heed their call to trust in the Savior, Jesus.  Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Through use of an acrostic poem, David meditates on the reality that the LORD is faithful to His promises. Those who wait on Him have no need to worry over the wicked and their wickedness. When the righteous see the prosperity of the evil, falling into the same way of evil helps nothing; continued delight in the LORD who gives His children an eternal inheritance is the only answer. The wicked ultimately perish by their own devices, while the LORD establishes the steps of His people forever. Such patient trust in the LORD comes from the Word of God that dwells in the heart and on the lips of the righteous, and the LORD vindicates those who patiently trust in Him.  Rev. The episode where we return to the Horridge House in Vinton, Iowa. We haven't been to Horridge House since 2021 so it was time for a return visit. Check out episode 95 for all the history behind this place and how our first investigation went. This time we had two changes: 1. We brought our new friend: Lauren! She's our (lightly) haunted doll and will be joining us on our investigations! And 2. We couldn't go to the train depot where we famously played train station, sad times. We are three adult women who just wanted to play trains with our doll, is that too much to ask?!? Okay, but really, Horridge House was still amazing the second time around so give it a listen!Come say hi on our socials! Omri, the commander of Israel's army, came out on top when the dust settled after Zimri's death. Although Omri established Samaria and brought Israel to greater political prominence during his reign, the writer of 1 Kings judges Omri as an unfaithful king whose wickedness before the LORD is the worst so far. Omri didn't remain on that pedestal for long, as his son Ahab was more wicked still, influenced by his pagan wife Jezebel. Nonetheless, the LORD remained faithful to Israel in those days and sent Elijah as one of His greatest prophets. Elijah's ministry began by predicting a drought as judgment against Israel's wickedness, even as the LORD provided for Elijah during that time of no rain.  Rev. Stephen Preus, pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, IA, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study 1 Kings 16:21-17:7.  To learn more about Trinity Lutheran, visit trinitylcmsvinton.org. "A Kingdom Divided” is a series on Sharper Iron that goes through 1-2 Kings. The division in the kingdom of Israel in this part of history was greater than a matter of north and south. The biggest division was between the people and their God. Yet even as the people rebelled against the LORD as their King, still He remained faithful to call them back to Himself through His prophets, working through history to send the good and gracious King, Jesus Christ. Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org

As they were originally one long book, 2 Samuel begins where 1 Samuel ends. News of the death of Saul and Jonathan reaches David from an Amalekite who likely thinks he will be rewarded by David. After David confirms the death of the LORD's anointed by hearing the testimony of the Amalekite a second time, David rightly executes his office by putting the Amalekite to death for being unafraid to lift his hand against the LORD's anointed. David leads the people of Judah in mourning the death of Saul and Jonathan. He does so in forgiveness for the man who had tried to kill him and in love for his best friend.  Rev. Stephen Preus, pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, IA, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study 2 Samuel 1:1-27.  "A Kingdom Unlike All the Nations” is a series on Sharper Iron that goes through 1-2 Samuel. This time in Israel's history has its highs and lows, but the LORD's faithfulness never wavers. He provides His Word to be proclaimed faithfully through prophets like Samuel and Nathan. Even as princes like Saul and David sit on an earthly throne, the LORD remains King over His people, even as He does now and forever through the Lord Jesus Christ. Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Tonight's guest, Justin Pladsen, was born and raised in Vinton, Iowa. Vinton is a quiet, little farm town that's ideal for raising a family. When Justin was growing up there, he got into a lot of the things boys did in Vinton back then. One of the things he liked doing, more than anything, was running around town with his buddies, Mark, Tom, and Charlie. On June 7th of 1993, he and his buddies decided that they wanted to go tubing down a creek called Mud Creek, that's just east of Vinton. They planned to source the inner tubes at a local Firestone tire shop. When Justin told his dad about his plans to go tubing down the creek, at dinner one evening, his dad made it clear to him that he wasn't allowed to do that. It was too dangerous. Being an 11-year-old boy, his dad's words went in one ear and out the other. He went tubing the next day, with his buddies, anyway. That was a decision he came to regret. He and his friends came very close to dying the next day. Less than 24 hours after being told by his dad that he couldn't go, Justin was running as fast as he could, through the woods, trying to get away from a Sasquatch that was coming after him. What happened that day? What lead up to Justin running for his life? We hope you'll tune in and listen to him lay it out for you.If you'd like to help support the show, by buying your own Bigfoot Eyewitness t-shirt or sweatshirt, please visit the Bigfoot Eyewitness Show Store, by going to https://Dogman-Encounters.MyShopify.comI produce 3 other shows that are available on your favorite podcast app. If you haven't checked them out, here are links to all 3 channels on the Spreaker App...My Bigfoot Sighting https://www.spreaker.com/show/my-bigfoot-sighting Dogman Encounters https://www.spreaker.com/show/dogman-encounters-radio_2 My Paranormal Experience https://www.spreaker.com/show/my-paranormal-experience Thanks, as always, for listening!

Psalm 147 not only reminds us that it is good to sing and give thanks to God alone, but it also gives us good reasons why. First, we give thanks to God as the One who redeems His people: past, present, and future. Second, we give thanks to God as the One who cares for His creation according to His steadfast love. Third, we give thanks to God as the One who speaks His Word to bring His peace and blessing.  Rev. Stephen Preus, pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton, IA, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Psalm 147.  "Psalms of Thanksgiving” is a series on Sharper Iron that looks to several psalms to help us give thanks to God. The LORD gives blessings to His whole creation, even all evil people. As we pray the psalms, He teaches us to receive all His gifts with thanksgiving, knowing that He is good and His steadfast love endures forever.  Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. The water put so much pressure on the graves that some of the vaults, which are located near the surface, popped open.
