Bailly made 47 appearances across all competitions in his first spell at Villarreal, from 2014 to 2016, before joining United, and Villarreal boss Marcelino is confident he can have an immediate impact back at the Estadio de la Ceramica. “The winter market is complicated because it's in the middle of the competition and we must take into account the time to adapt, and that's not the case with Bailly,” as per quotes from Diario AS.

Manchester United 0-2 Manchester City – the 186th Manchester derby as one of the most one-sided in history. It was an almost flawless performance from City on Saturday. Total domination from start to finish at Old Trafford, with an Eric Bailly own goal setting us on our way, before Bernardo Silva finished off a 26-pass move. Having played Tottenham, Leicester, Chelsea, Liverpool and now Manchester United away from home, we are tucked in nicely, three points off the leaders heading into the November international break. Special mention for Rodri, who was outstanding in the holding role at Old Trafford, and Bernardo Silva, whose dream season continues apace. After the game, we heard from Pep Guardiola and Ilkay Gundogan, and joining us in the Matchday Live studio were Joleon Lescott and David James. On the Strettycast this week, we discuss how the international break went for Manchester United after losing Raphael Varane to a groin injury for a few weeks. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has some big games coming up and neither Dale or Nards are confident about Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly forming a pairing at the back. Leicester City will be out to sniff blood but so will Atalanta, Liverpool, Tottenham and Man City in upcoming fixtures. Hopefully the players got the rest they needed during the break and are refreshed for a big domestic run.Voices: Dale O'Donnell and former Manchester United academy graduate Daniel Nardiello. Happy New Year to all our listeners! Our first episode of 2021 and 8th episode overall sees us both in good spirits with Arsenal and United both being in form. We react to the Gunners' 1-0 and 4-0 victories over Brighton and West Brom respectively to take them closer to the top than the bottom, including the comeback of form for striker Alexandre Lacazette, the breath of fresh air that young stars such as Emile Smith-Rowe have provided for creativity, the newfound gelling of the team and the warrior mentality/stunning goal from left-back Kieran Tierney. On the United side, we react to the Devils' 1-0 and 2-1 wins over Midlands sides Wolves and Aston Villa, and whether United could actually be onto a title charge for the 2nd half of the season, with plaudits for unexpected heroes such as Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly. We also review the rollercoaster ride that was the calendar year of 2020, with Arsenal taking home 2 trophies in Mikel Arteta's first year despite getting coronavirus, Man Utd's progression of quality over the year under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and with crucial playmaker Bruno Fernandes among other year highlights. We also give our Player Of The Year for 2020 as well as introduce Player Of The Gameweek. We also preview United's huge Carabao Cup derby semifinal against Manchester City and Watford in the FA Cup, with Arsenal beginning their defence of the trophy against Newcastle. Tied for points with league-leaders Liverpool! Karl and Vivek are buzzing after United's 10th straight unbeaten match in the Premier League, eight of which have been wins. This episode delves into Paul Pogba's magnificent performance, Eric Bailly proving an absolute fortress at the back, and David De Gea putting on an inspired performance in his 327th league appearance for the club -- which puts him fifth all-time. Cantona Collar: Eric Bailly. Beckham Boot: Scott McTominay. Noisy Neighbour: Jack Grealish.
On tonight's 100% United Postgame Show we give our instant reaction to Manchester United's 2-1 win over Aston Villa. A pulsating win at Old Trafford fired Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team into joint top spot in the Premier League with momentum gathering. Anthony Martial and Bruno Fernandes (again!) scored the goals that downed an impressive Villa side, with Paul Pogba and Eric Bailly returning to top form too. A great start to the New Year for us Reds and hopefully the start of something special. Become a 100% United Member on Patreon - patreon.com/united100
We discuss the important 2-1 win at home to Aston Villa which moves United to joint top in the league. We look at the performances of Eric Bailly, Paul Pogba and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Marcus Rashford comes up clutch in United's final match of 2020! Karl and Vivek look back on a strong defensive performance, Eric Bailly's best run of form since coming to the red side of Manchester, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka's complete unwillingness to cross a ball. Vivek goes off the English FA persisting with the Dec. 28/29 fixture when there's absolutely no need for it. A special thank you to you, the listener, for supporting the podcast as we got started this year and we wish you all the best for 2021! Cantona Collar: Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly. Beckham Boot: Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Noisy Neighbour: Romain Saiss.
Vivek and Karl look back on a positive performance but an unsatisfying result. Marcus Rashford had a goal but arguably should have had a hat-trick. Anthony Martial and Daniel James were anonymous, while Eric Bailly impressed once again. We're running out of superlatives for Edinson Cavani at this point, and can only hope the strikers on the bench watching him are learning a thing or two. A couple of bad mistakes led to Leicester's goals but other than that, it was a pretty solid performance in the back. Cantona Collar: Harry Maguire. Beckham Boot: Anthony Martial. Noisy Neighbour: Wesley Fofana.
As the Everton striker scores another hat-trick we debate what sort of role he could play for Gareth Southgate who names his next England squad this week. Mark Chapman is joined by Steve Sidwell and Leon Osman who discuss whether Manchester United could find more of a role for Juan Mata and Eric Bailly. Alistair Bruce-Ball and John Acres bemoan Everton's injury list which gained a couple of players after their victory and Steve Bruce says he's still worried about his side's lack of goals.
Patrick and Mike discuss United's 3-0 win over Championship side Luton in the Carabao Cup. Have impressive performers Eric Bailly and Fred played themselves into Ole's XI on the south coast? Let us know on Twitter @TheatreOfFutbol
