Through each episode, we asked how we can steward the gifts of democracy well. How can we love as Christ did? Now, the question is, can Christians go too far in the public square? The Thinking Fellows discuss why defining the Gospel carefully and constantly is essential. Many Christian organizations claim their mission is to preach the Gospel, but more often than not, what they mean by "gospel" is the law or simple Christian living. How do organizations like 1517 deal with criticism that they reduce or ignore Christian living in favor of a "just preach the gospel" mentality? 560 My Peace I Give To You, A Guided Christian Meditation on John 14:25-29 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and connect with the true source of peace, Jesus Christ. Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization. Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tensing or unrelaxing. If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes. Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation: Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate. Scripture for Meditation John 14:25-29 NIV 25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. 28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. NABRE 25 “I have told you this while I am with you. 26 The Advocate, the holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name—he will teach you everything and remind you of all that told you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid. 28You heard me tell you, ‘I am going away and I will come back to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father; for the Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you this before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe. Meditation: God offers peace. This is not new age theology. This is not a watering down of the Gospel. This is the Gosepl. This is what God offers. Jesus provides an explanation for that peace and is directly because He sends His spirit. It is not because we are faultless and do not deserve stress. It is because God is loving and sends His spirit. God is with us.. It is God's peace that He gives to us. His peace. He knows how to give it. The question is do we see it. Do we let our hearts be troubled and be afraid? Do we trust in His presence? In this moment embrace his presence. He is with you even right now. God loves you and accepts you. For those who come to Jesus, confess our sin to Him, and accept Him as our savior He forgives. All failings we have, he overcomes. All weakness and fear, he overcomes. He is stronger than all stress and any worries we have. What a blessing we have that Jesus gives His grace and Offers the gift of the presence of the Spirit. This was made possible because, as He says in the gospels, he died for us and returned to the Father, and sent His spirit to us. How blessed we are that this knowledge is available to us. We are able to hear the words of Jesus directly. We are able to access them for free, and have them in abundance as well as commentary and understanding. His spirit teaches us. As we spend time in His word, he can enlighten our minds. It is not academic knowledge that saves us. It is reliance on the God of heaven. With that said, God's spirit will teach us and remind us what He teaches us. This knowledge can sustain us. It supports us in times when we are tempted by fear. We can trust in our God who proclaims that we need not fear. In this moment reflect on this and embrace His message of confidence in His ability to make us sufficient to overcome. He has already overcome the world. There is nothing he has not already overcome. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials. Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life: This is a listener funded podcast at patreon.com/christianmeditationpodcast Updates: Final Question: Final Thought: FIND ME ON: Download my free app: Recenter with Christ Website - ChristianMeditationPodcast.com Voicemail - (602) 888-3795 Email: jared@christianmeditationpodcast.com Apple Podcasts - Christian Meditation Podcast Facebook.com/christianmeditationpodcast Youtube.com/christianmeditaitonpodcast Twitter - @ChristianMedPod
Welcome to the Love Where You Are podcast! In today's episode I am joined with Tori Hope Petersen. Tori Hope Petersen is a former foster youth letting her Abba be known. She is passionate about foster care reform, adoption advocacy, vulnerable populations, and seeing the love of God change people's lives! Tori speaks across the nation sharing her powerful story, but her favorite form of art and communication is writing. After a faith-filled track coach invested and mentored Tori in high school, she went on to not only become a Track and Field All-American, but also to join the 3% of foster youth who graduate from college and be crowned Mrs. Universe. Today, Tori is a foster mom, adoptive mom, and biological mom, and works with nonprofits, ministries, and beyond advocating for foster care reform, adoption awareness, and help for vulnerable populations. In this episode, Somer and Tori dive deep into the experiences of foster kids. Thank you for being here today. Now, let's dive into the conversation! You can connect with Tori through Instagram, and her website. You can also order her new book! FAVORITE TAKE-AWAYS: -Foster kids feel so lonely, unwanted, and hopeless. The odds are stacked against them and they need us. -The Bible tells us to love the orphans, and there are different types of orphans, not just the ones whose parents have died. We should love all the children who need stability and hope in their life. -There is backlash against adopted parents and people who foster but don't let it stop you from fulfilling God's calling in your life. REMEMBER: -Foster kids are not stereotypes or statistics, they are real people who need love and support. -Hurt people hurt people. We need love to break the cycle and begin the healing. -You don't have to dive into the deep end with fostercare. You can start by supporting a ministry, bringing a meal, being restbit, and finding out more. There are plenty of ways to help. Connect with Somer! Paul writes to Timothy in full hearing of the church in Ephesus, encouraging him to persevere in reading, preaching and teaching the Scriptures. When distractions appear and detractors arise, the consistent setting forth of the Gosepl in life and in doctrine remain the one necissary thing. 30-10-2022 - Rob Nollan
27. The Animals‘Animal Tracks'In the early 60s, a hugely important British band, from Newcastle, would form. The Animals were part of the culturally phenomenal British Invasion of the US. Along with the likes of The Beatles, The Kinks, The Hollies and more, they brought their British Pop over to the States and left their mark. But one aspect of The Animals was very different to their counterparts; their music had strong influences from already popularised American music styles. From Blues to R&B, Rock N Roll to Motown and Gosepl to Doo-Wop - The Animals left their mark on both sides of the pond by incorporating these different genres into one hybrid style and executed their British-American music to perfection.Laz & Felipe take a different approach this episode and go through some of The Animals' greatest hits from the ‘The Singles Plus' album and talk about the differing styles, influences, lyrical meanings and genres they hear from song to song! (In this way, the episode playlist has been structured like so: 1) Animals song 2) Original version of that song [where available] 3) Other earlier or notable covers of the song [where available] 4) Stylistic examples of other songs that we hear)LONG LIVE ROCK ‘N' ROLL - Follow the Podcast on Social Media: https://linktr.ee/longlivernrpod- Get in touch and/or leave us a review: longliverocknrollpodcast@gmail.com- Episode 27 Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3aLQEOzUCf13Ww2H75Y9nz?si=c3406aa0675e4d29- Portishead - S.O.S (ABBA Cover): Portishead - SOS- Podcast Music by GeriArt, NaturesEye, astrofreq, Twisterium from Pixabay- Podcast Art by Ross Davidson (@ross_feelshame)

This week we are taking a short break from our Heart of God series to go over Acts 1:8. The passage points out that our faith is not something that we are passively involved in rather, God invites us to actively be involved in being part of and building the Church. We as Citylight Lincoln have heard this invitation and as such we are excited to announce a huge update for our church family!Want to connect with us? Focusing on 1:16-17, We see that Paul is not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ on account of three reasons:I. Why Would One Be Ashamed of the Gospel? a. Paul & Original Context b. Modern ContextII. Reason to not be Ashamed of the Gospel #1- It is the Power of God for salvation to all who believe- Jew, and then Greek.III. Reason to not be Ashamed of the Gospel #2- It Reveals God’s Righteousness from faith for faithIV. Reason to not be Ashamed of the Gosepl #3- God’s Word Revealed This Gospel
Hey friends, these next couple of weeks, we’re going to have some very intentional conversations around current events. I don’t want to do that in order to be trendy or because I want to tell you what to do or think. I want to press into these tough conversations and hear from people’s experiences, and see what they can share with us about who God is, who He’ll always be, and what is true about us, and our call as His children, no matter what. So today, we are chatting with a woman who I have looked up to for a very long time, Ashley Elizabeth Graham Johnson, but most of us in the Middle Tennessee world in particular, know her as AE Graham. AE is a woman of deep faith, but also a great affection, and yet tempered, perspective about democracy, and uses words with more intention and beauty than pretty much anyone I personally know. AE worked as a speech writer at the White House under President George W. Bush, and has worked with other political figures on capitol Hill, and local politics as well. She lives her life from a passionate, but grace filled posture, and she shares from that place, alongside her own experiences in government, and invites others into it on social media, and I am always so grateful for it. AE and I spend a lot of time today talking about what it looks like to be a good citizen of this country, but more importantly to find our identity as children of God, citizens of the Kingdom of God, and Gosepl-minded neighbors to those around us. As someone who has worked in various political roles, AE offers some really interesting insights into what it means to engage where we are as a people. We also discuss, as two women raised Southern Baptist, the confusing struggle of our faith being tied to our patriotism, and that is not an act of worship, nor does it affect your identity in Christ, to exercise your right to vote as the Holy Spirit leads you to vote. In general, conversations about politics stretch me. But you know what? Right now, it's too important to not talk about, not because I want to get up on a soapbox and add to this current cacophony, but because I want to get down to the heart of the matter about what we are still called to do to further the Gospel of Christ, no matter what happens on America’s upcoming election day. I want to talk about it, because I’m more concerned about our hearts in this story than anything else. I hope and I pray, friends, that this episode is encouraging and also thought provoking for you, it certainly was and continues to be for me. Though there may be a crazy chapter in our story unfolding, His story isn’t over, and it is no more chaotic to Him than it was to speak to a storm and say “ssshhhh.” *This episode was sponsored by : Tony Crabtree of Crabtree Homes with Exit Realty Listeners can go to www.crabtreehomestn.com or http://bit.ly/mulitpleoffers to receive the free e-book "7 Tips to Beating Out Multiple-Offers on the Home of Your Dreams" Facebook.com/tonycrabtreehomes instagram.com/tonycrabtreehomes youtube.com/c/tonyteaches ---- Reference: SGA at MTSU 43- President George W. 2 Timothy 1:3-14
Jesus said to his disciples, "If your brother or sister has sinned against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are in private, and if he listens to you, you have won your brother. If you are not listened to, take with you one or two others so that the case may be decided by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he still refuses to listen to them, tell it to the assembled Church. But if he does not listen to the Church, then regard such a one as a pagan or a publican. I say to you: whatever you bind on earth, heaven will keep bound; and whatever you unbind on earth, heaven will keep unbound. In like manner, I say to you: if on earth two of you are united in asking for anything, it will be granted to you by my heavenly Father. For where two or three are gathered in my Name, I am there among them."

From now on I am telling you before it happens,so that when it happens you may believe that I AM.John 13:16-20

This episode gets real as we discuss what it is we individual believe as people. Outside of Church and doctrine, take away all the scriptures and Bible dictionary definitions, when it comes right down to it: what do we really believe? Listen in while Jon and Steph discuss personal beliefs formed by more than just the Gosepl, and what it really looks like (and feels like) to live those beliefs on a daily basis. What Is The Gospel? Series
In Titus 3 Paul is clear that before God saved us we were foolish, given to fleshly passions and were hating one another. That is great news! This is the GOSEPL of JESUS CHRIST! Because this is true, the scripture is very very very very clear.... did I say very? Yes, very clear that those who walk in the way Christ walked are in Christ, and if they do not, then they are not in Christ. So the purpose of my writing today is to answer one simple question: Why do so many pastors live in disharmony, hate, envy, gossip and murderous ways against each other and people among them? Scripture names the reasons, let's look at a few today: Unbelief This means that the guy who walks around talking bad, gossiping, hating others, not loving the brethren and feeling envy against others is an unbeliever. He may have "professed" Christ, and he may have even been sincere, but this profession is just like the one that the devil will proclaim, worthless. It's just words, nothing more. He may even have great training and knowledge of scripture, but because of his life, and his lack of love, he is a worthless nothing of wicked proportions. Now before you call these statements as the like of their "kind", let me show you the same thing in the Word of God. They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work. (Titus 1:16 ESV) Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people. For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life. The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people. But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned. (Titus 3:1-11 ESV) If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. (1 John 1:6 ESV) Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked. (1 John 2:4-6 ESV) Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness. Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling. But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes. (1 John 2:9-11 ESV) So, the man of "god" that hates his brother is a liar. He isn't a man of God, he is a man of the god of this world, the devil. Pride Well, I could just really stop with the first one, because being a slave to pride is a mark of an unbeliever, not a true child in a common faith. But in all reality, many pastors hate their brothers and it is seen in pride. A sense of feeling better than others because of many things, including a "bigger" congregation,
