It's safe to say that Kiwi comedian Guy Montgomery's been having a successful time across the Tasman. He found fame in New Zealand through hit shows like Have You Been Paying Attention and Thank God You're Here - but across the ditch, Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont-Spelling Bee has been picked up for another season and he's been nominated for a Logie at the Australian Television awards. Montgomery says it's all 'unbelievable'. "The amount of shows or opportunities for young comedians to be blighted on TV and introduced to that audience are less...so for the live comedy industry to be able to platform new voices and have this show take off, for me to be part of that is also great." Guy Montgomery dropped by for Quick Draw and nearly gave us a spelling-induced stroke — but not before getting compared to Taylor Swift (it’s his era, betch). Things got heated as he took on RickI in a match so tense, our smartwatches told us to breathe. Guy backed himself hard, but in a twist as wild as a Sex and the City reboot, RickI clawed her way back from near-defeat. And yes, there were multiple mentions of the word "labia."See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The studio strains to contain the combined star-power of the guy from all those mayo ads and NZ's one-time family Quordle champion. Heavy are these boys' heads under the yoke of fame. The Family faces their greatest threat yet as adrenaline junkie Tim Batt is unleashed upon the mean streets of Auckland. Meanwhile, the wily Guy Montgomery, the brains of the operation, furthers his sinister goals of routing the Family's best minds in the colosseum of phone chess. Can anyone stop them? After a few days of playing incredibly fast and loose with his eating habits, Tim has come back to the stu to debrief with an infuriated Guy Montgomery and our Friend on the Phone, Nish Kumar. Tim Batt is a pioneer in the digital audio space and one of New Zealand's most impressive creative talents. He's the producer and co-host of NZ's most popular podcast - with 20 million downloads, he's created his own podcast network, won multiple comedy awards, produced radio for Matt Heath, he's a standup comedian, was a co-chair of the NZ comedy guild, and a father of two kids under 3. In this episode we talk about starting a podcast with Guy Montgomery where they watch the same movie every week for a year, what he learned from radio and why he left, working with Chloe Swarbrick, the best and worst of the NZ comedy scene and the future of NZ media. Tim is hilarious and told us after we recorded that he'd contacted both of our partners to do his own research on us. He flips the interview on us about halfway through (well played Tim!). This was a really fun chat, so many laughs in this one. Tim is super quick, thoughtful and just an all-round interesting guy. Just as time comes for us all, so has it come for this third episode of Good Times. It's an introspective week for Monty, who we find preoccupied with the fate of his hair after an encounter at the barber. The USA Network is apparently making original shows...that should be streaming shows, like The Anonymous, which throws The Traitors, Big Brother, and a number of other alliance-based reality shows into a blender. Kari Race is back to discuss whether it's a concoction worth drinking, given all the AI dad jokes, dead air, and inappropriate cliffhangers in the first three episodes. Then we went Around The Dial with Taskmaster NZ, Guy Montgomery's Guy Mont-Spelling Bee, and Homicide: LOTS. Mr. Throwback won (a timeslot), Teresa Giudice lost (again), and Tube Tunes got stuck in our heads again during Non-Regulation Game Time. Can't stop, won't stop, #Deathblart The Blart quintet are back for a ninth year. Nothing will stop them from their annual watch and review of BP:MC2, not an industry-wide strike, not a lack of enthusiasm for the film. In this refreshingly straight-laced approach at the material, all five reviewers have remained (mainly) sober and checked in. This mentally sharp environment has allowed for a Griffin-Timbo mindmeld to explore the possible religious and philosophical ramifications of Paul fighting a bird in a fake garden setting to piano music. Travis is attempting to explain to his child that this movie IS a comedy. Guy is quick to defend the Toyota Yaris. And Justin has once again figured out a way to turn the watch into a joyful experience while watching shirtless in bed.
