Well y'all, this is it. The series finale of Bourbon & Bordelons because we've reached the series finale of Queen Sugar, the television show that stole our hearts and minds and showed Blackness in an entirely unique and interesting light. New, original storytelling. We spend a few more minutes with them as they take flight into their own world from here on out. The crew drops some Advictions and as is customary, a shot of bourbon for the character who had the best SHOW, yep, for the ENTIRE series. Who might that be? You'll have to check it out. Thank you for listening each week and for sharing your thoughts and opinions with us via social media and emails, etc. It was all appreciated. The Mongol Rally has been described as “the craziest motoring adventure on the planet”, and for good reason. This 10,000-mile journey spans from London, England to Ulan Ude, Russia and passes through twenty countries on the way. Ralliers team up, buy a tiny, crappy car sight-unseen with a smaller-than-one-liter engine, and send it. So, what kind of lunatics would set out on such a journey? Milwaukeeans looking for a hell of an adventure. Charlie Hawks, Henry Sanders, and Ben Selig teamed up to conquer this seemingly-infinite route through Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. It was a tough venture, but when it was all said and done, they'd learned quite a bit about the world and themselves, and they were happy they did it.To hear the whole story right from the horses' mouths, tune into this episode of The GoGedders Podcast. Host Richie Burke sat down and recorded live at Milwaukee's Rotary Club with our three adventurers, Charlie, Henry, and Ben, to talk about their journey and what they learned along the way. In 1951 renowned psychologist Solomon Asch conducted an experiment and found that the larger the group is, the more people tend to conform to mob mentality. Leaders who broke out of the box were ridiculed and labeled as troublemakers. The word troublemaker has a may negative connotation however some of the greatest leaders and innovators were also given this label. People like Galileo, Gahndi, Martin Luther King, Henry Ford, Wright brothers, Harriet Tubman, Mark Zuckerberg, Nelson Mandela, and Steve Jobs are all incredibly inspiring people who were able to courageously break away from a mob mentality and passionately pursue their vision of the future. Creative thinkers are able to easily find answers to unsolved questions. They weigh up the facts and are not afraid to try new approaches. This type of team leader can find the solution to a technical, scientific or social problem by going against the grain and questioning the typical way that things have been done in the past. Part of being an innovative thinker is having the capacity to explore alternative thoughts and ideas. Anyone who thinks they have all the answers is kidding themselves, so make a point of challenging your beliefs on a regular basis. If you’re fiscally conservative, explore a well-thought out piece by someone on the opposite end of the political spectrum so you can see the other side of the story. If you’re a Christian, explore the thoughts of the most highly regarded Muslims to discover why they believe what they do. Have conversations with people who have different thoughts and beliefs to learn what makes them tick. If you really believe something with conviction, it should hold up to scrutiny. Your openness will show others that you are so firm in your convictions that you’re willing to challenge your beliefs. By doing this you will develop trust in people who think differently than you do, and inspire those around you.
