Happy Wine Wednesday! Our regular coverage of HBO's The Last of Us continues with our discussion about episode 6, "Kin." Tommy returns with a wife (portrayed by the fantastic Rutina Wesley) and baby on the way and all three managed to make it out of this episode alive - hooray! Candi and I unpack the dynamic between the newly reunited brothers. We had a lot of questions about what exactly Tommy told Maria about his early apocalypse days with Joel. I had some questions about the brothers' newly found accents because the twang was a little thick and not something I'd noticed in the pilot. We also share our impressions of Maria - it was truly a Black History Month miracle that she managed to make it out of this episode alive and her family intact to boot.Of course we get into the growth of Joel and Ellie's friendship and share what we would teach Ellie about from the pre-2003 world. In honor of reunions and loving relationships featured in the episode, the thirst segment discussion centers on the celebrity crush we would endure a long, taxing trip across several states to get to against all odds.Until next time! Friendly reminder that we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a really great time.Find and follow Candi on Twitter here. Support the showFollow the pod on IG and Twitter. Happy Wine Wednesday! We are back with another installment in our special series, The Pilot Project. Terence Johnson returns this week to discuss the pilot episode of one of our favorite guilty pleasure shows, True Blood. It turns out that Terence and I had a LOT to say about True Blood, so this week you will get our main discussion on the pilot and next week we will have a bonus spoiler segment in which Terence and I discuss the series as a whole. It's also worth noting that by the end of the first segment, a LOT of wine had been consumed and it shows. We kick things off by talking about what drew us to the True Blood pilot and whether either one of us read the source material. Of course we talk about the show's theme song and the very memorable opening sequence.Following that, we get into the Qs that need some As. We discuss the opening sequence and how Alan Ball introduced us to the world of Bon Temps. We also put a modern day lens on True Blood and discuss whether we would be open to dating a vampire and if we would have curiosity about vampire blood. You know we can't discuss a show about supernaturals or superheroes without sharing which special ability we would want.Of course we get into the Bill and Sookie of it all - their introduction, their chemistry, and the preview into their taboo love that we see in the pilot episode. In honor of Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer meeting and falling in love on the set of True Blood, we discuss some of our favorite couples who met on the set.We also get into the episode standouts, which of course includes a salute to the very talented Nelsan Ellis (RIP). We then give our final elevator pitch as to why you might want to continue watching True Blood and then things get thirsty! Thanks so much for listening! This week we were thrilled to sit down with Emmy nominated powerhouse, Adina Porter. You Might Know Her From True Blood, The Newsroom, The 100, Underground, Lackawanna Blues, The Morning Show, and American Horror Story: Cult, Roanoke, and Apocalypse. We had a total ball with Adina digging into her theatre beginnings with Suzan-Lori Parks’ brilliant play Venus, her scene stealing work as Lettie Mae in Alan Ball’s vampire romp True Blood, the grace of Cynthia Nixon (they became friends when they worked together in the much discussed 2001 revival of The Women), the wild ride that is The Morning Show (Anne’s new obsession), and what happens when you go with Chaz Bono and the AHS cast to see Cher aka mom in concert. All that and some very important Pepe the Prawn follow-up. Have at it! Talking Through Scars On this episode 96 of The Walking Dead Talk Through, Brian, Mark, and special guest co-host Steve from Panels to Pixels talk through The Walking Dead Season 9 Episode 14, which is titled, Scars. This was written by Corey Reed & Vivian Tse, and directed by Millicent Shelton. SPOILER ALERT!!! SPOILER ALERT!!! The rest of this blog post requires a SPOILER WARNING!!! If you haven’t watched this week’s episode, then you probably should stop now. The Feels Listeners know that I’ve had issues with the show since the departure of Rick Grimes. This episode pulled at those emotions, especially in the cold open and at the end of the episode, with the scene between Michonne and Judith talking about why it seems like people like Daryl, Carol and Ezekiel are no longer their friends. In both cases, the show hit me hard, just like it has for so many years. I wish we’d get back to that more often. The big secret has been revealed! It took them eight episodes, but we finally have the story of how Daryl and Michonne get those X scars on their backs. Boy, that was nothing like I expected. In some ways, this episode played like The Grove, Part 2. It had a very Children of the Corn vibe, and kind of a Lord of the Flies. I did not see it coming. I don’t think it was well explained about Jocelyn. Was she always that psychopath? Probably. Did she kill the adults that were traveling with her, did she make the kids do it, or did they perish on their own? I don’t know if we ever get that explained, or if we need to know. It was very disturbing. However, there were some scenes cut that took away from the story, especially showing how Daryl escaped. It was like the video skipped. In fact, I went back three times, thinking I missed something. We speculated that took the scene out because it as too graphic, partially so they could keep objections down about the killing of children in this episode, but, unless they explain it in an interview or a DVD commentary, we may never know. Judith is a very special little girl, and more! I was very taken with Judith this episode. She’s been this character who’s been wiser than her years, and I think what we see in this episode is why. She remembered what happened all this time, and still thought they should help people that need help. The scenes with Cailey Fleming were great, and I was really impressed with the character. I also loved the scenes between Michonne and Negan about Judith. He’s very taken with her, and I think this might be the first time we see Negan being a straight-shooter and not posturing or grandstanding. He may be redeemable yet. Ratings were down this week… This week, TWD S9E14 Scars got a 1.66 in the 18-49 demographic with 4.566 million viewers, down from 1.77 in the 18-49, and 4.831 million last week. Talking Dead, also down, with a 0.50 in the 18-49, verses 0.71 and 2.031 million viewers last week respectively.
Brian, Mark & special guest Steve discuss Scars, The Walking Dead S9E14. This episode was written by Corey Reed & Vivian Tse, and directed by Millicent Shelton. We finally learn how Daryl & Michonne get those scars, and why Judith is special.

Coming off the success of 2010's Lionsgate thriller The Last Exorcism, director Daniel Stamm brought his script for 13 Sins, a remake of a Thai film, to the producers at Blumhouse. The 4 million dollar film had the bad fortune, however, to be released by the Weinstein Bros. controlled Radius-TWC, which dumped the film in limited release and only made about $10,000 at the box office. It stars Mark Webber, Rutina Wesley, Devon Graye, and Ron Perlman. Dan and Vicky discuss the film as well some of their recently seen which include: Big Mouth, The Haunting of Hill House, A Star is Born 2018, Rampage, Bad Times at the El Royale, Halloween 2018, Terrifier and PuppetMaster: The Littlest Reich. Dan brings us up-to-date on his new off-broadway show Wild Goose Dreams and the cast album he's recording and Vicky talks about her Florida trip for some R&R with Mom and Dad. Confess! Bet you can't wait to listen to Hot Date 77: 13 Sins. Leave us some feedback.

Today, we chat about Rutina Wesley's engagement, Justice League opening weekend, more sexual misconduct drama, The Punisher and a shake-up at Marvel. Then, we get into our review of Thor: Ragnarok. So tune in and enjoy the tea!
Rutina Wesley was born in Las Vegas and raised with a diverse group of friends and peers. Like many serious young thespians, leading up to high school graduation, she dreamed of Juilliard. But, as she puts it: the universe knew she wasn’t ready yet. With matriculation to her dream school postponed, she headed east to the University of Evansville in Indiana to take advantage of the school’s excellent theatre program. After she graduated from college, it seemed that fate met her at the other side of the graduation stage. From there she attended Juilliard; acted on Broadway; starred in the major motion picture How She Move; and starred in the HBO series True Blood. And now, she stars in Queen Sugar, the hottest show on the Oprah Winfrey Network (“OWN”). If you ever doubted #blackgirlmagic, Rutina Wesley will make you believe.
Singer and reality TV star Tamar Braxton came to town honey, and you know she came to spill the tea! Braxton discusses her new album "Bluebird of Happiness," sets the record straight on whether it's really her last, and reveals how motherhood truly changed her. Plus, "Queen Sugar" stars Rutina Wesley and Dawn-Lyen Gardner open up about Black Girl Magic on set and being Black women in Hollywood. The ladies also open up about their beloved Juilliard classmate Nelsan Ellis' tragic and sudden passing and the legacy he has left behind.
