VIDEO & AUDIO ON PATREON It's S-S-Seeking Sunday! Ben here. Today, Jacques, Hesse, and I take a deep dive into the Straight Acting Brotherhood, a members-only club for men who are into men and... drop shipping. Before emailing the organization's spokesperson in a truly desperate attempt to join, we try to figure out what this group actually offers and why certain gay men are drawn to it in the first place. Is it the promise of business expertise and elite networking opportunities? Or is it the allure of high-effort hustlepreneur drag? Also I show Hesse and Jacques my new treadmill and sauna and Jacques tell us why you will get blocked if you DM him about his hair. Intro & Outro– Slayrizz, Imagine If
Today on Movie Jacqueset, Hesse, Jacques and Masha discuss the classic film Freejack, one of the thousand low-budget sci-fi action movies from the early 90's that's amazing and very bad. They discuss Mick Jagger's incredible accent work, the philosophical implications of The Eagle Speech, and the beautiful Jack-centric climax!
Josiah Hesse grew up in northern Iowa during the farm crisis of the 1980s, a moment of economic collapse, rising poverty, and quiet desperation across the rural Midwest. In this episode, he joins Straight White American, Jesus to talk about his new memoir, On Fire for God: Fear, Shame, Poverty, and the Making of the Christian Right. Through his family's story—parents who poured everything into a prosperity-gospel church, even giving dollar-for-dollar what they earned—Hesse traces how faith, trauma, and economic pressure collided in a home and a church marked by dysfunction, scandal, and exploitation. What emerges is not a caricature, but a deeply human portrait of people searching for meaning, stability, and hope in a system that ultimately consumed them. Our conversation moves from the intimate to the national, mapping Hesse's personal journey onto the rise of the Christian Right from the 1980s to today's Christian nationalist movement. We talk about fear of the end times, purity culture, religious trauma, sexuality, and the long road out of evangelicalism—alongside the compassion required to reckon honestly with the people and places that shaped him. Hesse, a journalist based in Colorado, brings unflinching analysis and rare empathy to a genre crowded with deconversion stories, showing how the forces that shaped his childhood are now shaping our public square. Subscribers can stick around for an extended discussion on how his story illuminates the political and moral crises we're living through right now. www.axismundi.us www.straightwhiteamericanjesus.com Hesse, On Fire for God: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/721105/on-fire-for-god-by-josiah-hesse/ Learn more about your ad choices. It's Seeking Sunday! Ben here. Today, Jacques, Hesse, and I talk about our favorite people, the Fab Five. We discuss whether Karamo's no-show on CBS Mornings was a surprise attack against his co-stars, or if he was actually, as he said, afraid of being bullied. We then ask bigger questions like: Is fighting with your friends a dying art? Why are gay men so mean to each other? Did JVN really kill his cat? Stay warm Seekers! We'll be back next week with more. Mwah!
You can't go home again, as the saying goes. But Denver author Josiah Hesse did. He returned to Mason City, Iowa — with a journalistic lens— to better understand his evangelical upbringing, and the social and economic forces that shaped it. We spoke in front of an audience at the Denver Press Club for the release of "On Fire for God: Fear, Shame, Poverty, and the Making of the Christian Right – a Personal History."

Full Episode on Patreon Ben here, today Jacques, Hesse and I discuss Betty Boop entering public domain, how that will change her appeal, and how we plan to profit off of it by making our very own Boop movie. Plus we take a look back our 2016's and discuss the threat of a nuclear war.
Hello Seekers! Ben here, today Jacques, Hesse and I discuss our aspirations to live a healthier, diabetes-free 2026, RFK's new food pyramid, and preforming at the Riyad Comedy Festival. Plus we get another blast from the past, that's right, we end with a Jacques News Segment.
The Music Man was a 1957 Broadway show written by Meredith Willson, a musician from the small Iowa town of Mason City. The popular play (and later movie) featured a con man called Harold Hill who ripped off the naive people of River City, a fictional small town based on Mason City. Nearly seventy years later, Josiah Hesse, another Iowan from Mason City, sees the Music Man narrative replaying itself. As Hesse notes in his autobiographical new book, On Fire For God, today's Harold Hills are the megachurch salesmen who descend on small American towns to rip off the local community with their religious claptrap. "They know how to prey on people's fears," Hesse argues about these evangelical preachers, "how to locate the thing that's changing, that's new, and offer something that hearkens back to another era, a pure era of American wholesomeness." As another observant American midwesterner, Mark Twain, once quipped: "History doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes."Keen On America is a reader-supported publication.

In this episode of THE MENTORS RADIO, Host Dan Hesse talks with Jerome Bettis (also known as “The Bus”), who is a Hall of Fame running back and Walter Peyton NFL Man of the Year. Jerome describes how he “broke the cycle” of shunning rookies in the locker room and instead focused on encouraging and mentoring them. He also talks about how the generosity of one pro football player he met as a kid drove him to develop the habit of giving a “hand up” to those in need; a habit that he knows he will continue for the rest of his life. “The Bus” is also the title of Jerome's bestselling autobiography, which tells the story of Bettis' rise from a Detroit ghetto to an illustrious collegiate and professional football career. A six-time Pro Bowl selection and one of the league's all-time leading rushers, Jerome retired in 2006 after helping the Steelers win the Super Bowl, and in 2022, at age 50, Bettis received a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame, fulfilling a promise he made to his mother when he left college for the NFL draft a year before graduation! Episode 3752: Kate Hesse explores whether watching television counts as self-care or if it's simply a distraction. By highlighting the importance of intention, moderation, and how we engage with what we watch, she shows how TV can either drain our energy or serve as nourishment, connection, and even self-work when approached consciously. Read along with the original article(s) here: https://nourishnestbreathe.com/is-watching-tv-self-care/ Quotes to ponder: "If you use the words 'zone out' when talking about your tv watching, again, chances are this activity is serving as a distraction." "Too much of anything can be a bad thing." "At the end of the day, tv isn't good or bad. It really boils down to your intention when you turn it on, what you choose to watch, how you choose to watch it, and how much of it you watch." Learn more about your ad choices.
