“My dick is encased in wax. It's the ultimate condom.”This week's horniest fire hazard of a horror movie is House of Wax. This film has everything: wax-on-wax violence, Quentin Tarantino's evil twin, and smoldering chemistry only ruined by shared parentage. If you love incestual tension, foot trauma, and the slowest wax-based final fight in horror history, this episode's for you! Please Subscribe, Rate, and Review The Horror Virgin to help more people discover our community. What did you think of our episode on What Lies Beneath? In this episode, we go behind the scenes with legendary production designer Graham “Grace” Walker—the visual mastermind behind films like Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, House of Wax, Pitch Black, and a long run on The Walking Dead. From his earliest art department credits on Caddie (1976) and Summerfield (1977) to his modern horror designs, Walker's career spans gritty, visceral worlds and cult classics alike. We unpack his work on The Walking Dead—eighty episodes of post-apocalyptic decay and must-see set transformation—and his stylized design vision in Baz Luhrmann's surreal Beyond Thunderdome and the waxy nightmares of House of Wax.But most thrillingly, we dive into Walker's memories of the famously chaotic 1996 production of The Island of Dr. Moreau, directed by Richard Stanley and later taken over by John Frankenheimer.Walker not only designed the sets, but appears briefly in the documentary Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley's Island of Dr. Moreau recounting the madness on set.Expect tales of:Building dense dystopias for The Walking Dead—how you make a world feel dead in every cornerCrafting the post-apocalyptic cityscape of Beyond Thunderdome and the visceral horror interiors of House of WaxSurviving the Moreau production nightmares: creature-heavy jungles, star clashes, and set takeoversHis early Australian cinema roots—including Dead Calm, Crocodile Dundee, and the early Mad Max filmsHow production design shapes storytelling in horror, sci‑fi, and genre filmsWhether you're interested in film design, horror history, or the infamous legend of Dr. Moreau, this conversation with Graham “Grace” Walker is a journey through some of cinema's wildest visual worlds. Paris Hilton agrees that this episode is hot! Mark welcomes longtime friend, collaborator, horror lover, and actress Kit Sheehan back on the pod to take a trip to the House of Wax from 2005. The two reminisce about seeing this "remake" together just weeks before their senior prom and graduation 20 years ago. Plus, they share stories about making a spoof of this slashfest called House of SAKS 5th Avenue, where Kit naturally played Paris. Kit praises the great behind-the-scenes reality show Movie Life: House of Wax that aired on MTV, which you can find on YouTube. Also, other 2005 staples The OC, Brokeback Mountain, and Crash get shout-outs!

20 years ago, we all saw Paris Hilton... well, you know. Join us as we revisit Jaume Collet-Serra's 2005 remake of “House of Wax,” starring Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Michael Murray, and, yes, the inimitable Paris Hilton. Was it scary? Was it good? Let's just say it was... memorable. We're diving deep into the wax-covered madness, the questionable plot choices, the even more questionable brother/sister chemistry and that iconic scene. Get ready for a nostalgic trip filled with screams (and maybe a few laughs) as we celebrate the anniversary of this cult classic slasher.Where To Watch House of Wax
Welcome to Episode 110: House of Wax (2005). Forget the football game! Put down that video camera, pick up your lip balm, and join us in Ambrose. It's not on the map, but we were able to find it. I'm worried though. Mike went into Trudy's House of Wax to explore, but that was hours ago. I can see a wax figure sitting at a table in front of a microphone. It looks a lot like my podcast partner but that can't be him can it? I wonder where the real Mike went. The lights in town all just came on. Maybe I can find someone to help me. I'm the meantime, listen today, wherever podcasts can be heard.

You get: heinous mall fashion, a cast of WB/CW soap actors, a Hot Topic-ready soundtrack of all the hottest nu-metal acts, Paris Hilton, and the last gasps of casual misogyny and homophobia in the days before social media. House of Wax is a soulless, artless, remake in the high holy days of the horror movie remake.Dave asks the question: does the culture owe Paris Hilton an apology? Bryan asks the question: Is this actually a remake of the Vincent Price House of Wax? It seems to be a remake of Tourist Trap. Collectively they ask: Is this all Millennials had to look forward to? House of Wax is the worst of all possible outcomes and we're going to tell you all about it.
Well, well, well...So we meet again?! You bet your sweet ass we do, Candy Killers, and for yet another Remake Rumble! This time it's a fight to the finish between House Of Wax(1953) starring Vincent Price and it's 2005 reboot, starring none other than Paris Hilton. Find out who makes it outta this one victorious on this episode of Monster Candy Podcast!

Alright, folks, listen up—because I need some help here. Clay and Amanda are back from their holiday break (finally!), and they're kicking off 2025 on *The Rotten Horror Picture Show Podcast* with a deep dive into the Vincent Price classic *House of Wax*. A real gem of old-school horror, you know? The dripping wax, the sinister undertones, the undeniable charm of Vincent Price—what's not to love? But here's where things start to mess with my head: this movie is apparently tied to their Patreon theme for the year, which is all about reboots and remakes. And, uh… I have a confession. I don't really get it. Like, what *is* the difference between a reboot and a remake? Are they the same thing? Does one have to be modern and the other stick to the original story? If you're just redoing a movie from scratch, isn't that… both? And what about *sequels that pretend the old ones don't exist*? Is that something else entirely? My brain is melting like wax over here. Thankfully, Clay and Amanda are the pros we need to guide us through this tangled mess of terminology. In this episode, they're revisiting *House of Wax* as a starting point to explore how films evolve when they're brought back to life in new ways. And I gotta say, Vincent Price's 1953 version is a hell of a way to kick things off—chilling, stylish, and just a little campy. It's a *remake* of a 1933 film (*Mystery of the Wax Museum*, FYI), but what does that make the 2005 *House of Wax* with Paris Hilton? A reboot? A re-re-make? I don't know! So, tune in as Clay and Amanda unravel the waxy mystery of this horror classic—and maybe clear up this whole reboot-remake nonsense for the rest of us.patreon.com/thepenskyfile

Just in time for the release of her new book Millennial Nasties, we welcome back friend of the show Ariel Powers-Schaub, and what better to discuss than one of the nastiest of the era, Disney's Jungle Cruise director Jaume Collet-Serra's House of Wax. Maligned by many genre fans on release, the most 2005 movie of all time also boasts some of the best body horror the decade, practical effects that are still chilling to behold, and the last great location from a studio once dedicated to keeping sets alive. Highlights from Chaos include that crazy fire scene that put the actors in real danger, historical facts about the era, and Carolyn Jones' head-spinning turn from the happily macabre brunette Morticia Addams to the eerily cheerful blonde Cathy.
