You get: heinous mall fashion, a cast of WB/CW soap actors, a Hot Topic-ready soundtrack of all the hottest nu-metal acts, Paris Hilton, and the last gasps of casual misogyny and homophobia in the days before social media. House of Wax is a soulless, artless, remake in the high holy days of the horror movie remake.Dave asks the question: does the culture owe Paris Hilton an apology? Bryan asks the question: Is this actually a remake of the Vincent Price House of Wax? It seems to be a remake of Tourist Trap. Collectively they ask: Is this all Millennials had to look forward to? House of Wax is the worst of all possible outcomes and we're going to tell you all about it.
Well, well, well...So we meet again?! You bet your sweet ass we do, Candy Killers, and for yet another Remake Rumble! This time it's a fight to the finish between House Of Wax(1953) starring Vincent Price and it's 2005 reboot, starring none other than Paris Hilton. Find out who makes it outta this one victorious on this episode of Monster Candy Podcast!

This week we're getting Waxy as we're joined by Dj DVD Dave to talk one of the greatest horror movies of the 2000s House Of Wax

Alright, folks, listen up—because I need some help here. Clay and Amanda are back from their holiday break (finally!), and they're kicking off 2025 on *The Rotten Horror Picture Show Podcast* with a deep dive into the Vincent Price classic *House of Wax*. A real gem of old-school horror, you know? The dripping wax, the sinister undertones, the undeniable charm of Vincent Price—what's not to love? But here's where things start to mess with my head: this movie is apparently tied to their Patreon theme for the year, which is all about reboots and remakes. And, uh… I have a confession. I don't really get it. Like, what *is* the difference between a reboot and a remake? Are they the same thing? Does one have to be modern and the other stick to the original story? If you're just redoing a movie from scratch, isn't that… both? And what about *sequels that pretend the old ones don't exist*? Is that something else entirely? My brain is melting like wax over here. Thankfully, Clay and Amanda are the pros we need to guide us through this tangled mess of terminology. In this episode, they're revisiting *House of Wax* as a starting point to explore how films evolve when they're brought back to life in new ways. And I gotta say, Vincent Price's 1953 version is a hell of a way to kick things off—chilling, stylish, and just a little campy. It's a *remake* of a 1933 film (*Mystery of the Wax Museum*, FYI), but what does that make the 2005 *House of Wax* with Paris Hilton? A reboot? A re-re-make? I don't know! So, tune in as Clay and Amanda unravel the waxy mystery of this horror classic—and maybe clear up this whole reboot-remake nonsense for the rest of us.patreon.com/thepenskyfile

Olivia is back from the Big Apple, where she took a tour through Jimmy Fallon's "Tonightmares" - a haunted house based on the late night host's own personal night terrors. Shauna is continuing to fight the good fight politically here in AZ, and as a reward got to meet a certain 'Electra-fying' star. The Junkies then discuss the perfect pairing of Halloween and pop culture, specifically in the multifaceted horror movie genre. From slashers to monster movies to psychological horror, this genre is so versatile that depending on the movie, you'll swoon, laugh, shudder or even throw up. (Looking at you, Terrifier 3.) Olivia and Shauna picked one specific movie to discuss for this episode, so be warned there are slight spoilers for The Descent, possibly the scariest movie ever made. (Or is it?) It's Wax Season here on Box Office Pulp! Just in time for the release of her new book Millennial Nasties, we welcome back friend of the show Ariel Powers-Schaub, and what better to discuss than one of the nastiest of the era, Disney's Jungle Cruise director Jaume Collet-Serra's House of Wax. For BOP n' A Movie's second trip to the Dark Castle, this commentary track goes back to a time when everybody wanted that Leatherface money, and you could market a film based on watching Paris Hilton die. Maligned by many genre fans on release, the most 2005 movie of all time also boasts some of the best body horror the decade, practical effects that are still chilling to behold, and the last great location from a studio once dedicated to keeping sets alive. They Mostly Podcast at Night - Horror Movie Reviews with Chaos and Carnage
Chaos is BACK to resurrect the pod and it starts with House of Wax (1953)! A delicate genius sculptor (Vincent Price) loses his mind and almost his life when his business partner burns down his beloved wax museum with him inside. They say the best revenge is a life well-lived, and good ol Vince takes this to heart with a deadly comeback and dreams of living forever through his masterpiece of murder! Highlights from Chaos include that crazy fire scene that put the actors in real danger, historical facts about the era, and Carolyn Jones' head-spinning turn from the happily macabre brunette Morticia Addams to the eerily cheerful blonde Cathy. For this week's episode of Dark Night of the Podcast, Paris Hilton won't be the only thing having you all say “That's hot!” At least not while you experience the sensation of hot, melted wax covering every inch of your body. It's finally time for Troy and Roger to review one of the best remakes of our time, 2005s criminally underrated “House of Wax”. Like, what more could they have given us with this one?! You're getting a sensible brunette Elisha Cuthbert donning a wife beater and losing fingers, Chad Michael Murray in his prime looking all sweaty and shirtless, some of the absolute best kill sequences we've seen post-millennium, and that chase… oh that chase… you know exactly the one we're talking about! So make sure to light a couple of candles, but make sure you don't burn yourself because… that's hot! Oh come on, you knew it was coming…
Mary joins Caitlin to talk about horror movies that deserve a second chance. These movies aren't necessarily "underrated" (because that means different things to different people, especially depending upon familiarity with the genre), but they're movies that got written off too soon. They deserve a second look; at least we think they do. Let us know if there are any you'd add to the list.
