This week I sit down for a mid-morning chat with Derek Henry, lead vocalist for the band Observe the 93rd. Two weeks until the camp grounds open at Blue Ridge Rock Fest! I know you are excited, because I sure as hell am. So I hope you are ready! Today I bring you a band out of New Jersey playing day 3 of the festival. Ladies and Gentleman, Aurin! “Aurin is back with their new album “Serotonin” (released on 9/13/19 through TLG / INgrooves). “Serotonin” was produced by Grammy award nominated Mike Ferretti (Sevendust, Thank you Scientist, Saliva). It is tough enough to be born into a cult and to not fit in with the people surrounding you outside the group, but sometimes you’re born into a family in a cult that is not particularly well liked in a congregation for whatever reason, and that adds an even heavier layer of isolation with nowhere to go. Throw in home schooling and a mother that teaches you not to trust people, and you have a recipe for destroying a young girl’s sense of self and belonging in the world.
