Polar Bear Club was a post-hardcore/melodic punk band from upstate New York. They were active mostly from the mid-2000s to around 2015. Their sound was a mix of gruff, emotional vocals with melodic yet aggressive instrumentals. They released albums on Triple Crown Records, Bridge Nine Records and Rise Records. And toured with such bands as The Gaslight Anthem, Set Your Goals, Four Year Strong, Every Time I Die, The Bouncing Souls, Bad Religion, The Story So Far, Citizen, New Found Glory and Taking Back Sunday. I got Jimmy on the Skype and this is what we chat about: His band The Disaster 2 things that kickstarted them to tour Red Leader Records and Matt Rosenberg As 'Twere the Mirror Member changes Clash Battle Guilt Pride Bad tours His voice changing on the last record Audiotree How the band ended Will there be a reunion And a ton more Check out his new band Shy Tooth on Spotify and all the platforms Lastly I do whiteboard animations so if your marketing department has said recently “Hey, we need a whiteboard animation” then email me at mike@drive80.com.

In this episode, Alan Day and Dan O'Connor of Four Year Strong sit in to discuss the writing and recording of the single "uncooked" from their 2024 album Analysis Paralysis. Inspired by a bout of writer's block, the song explores their curiosity about whether certain substances might help them overcome it, despite both being straight edge since they were kids. They share how this challenge shaped the raw energy of "uncooked" and explain how producer Will Putney played a key role in bringing the song to life. The conversation also touches on their vocal harmonies, personal growth, and the creative pressures of their long-standing music career. We had the pleasure of interviewing Written By Wolves over Zoom video!New Zealand's genre bending rockers Written By Wolves released the music video for their latest single “GIVE 'EM HELL”.This new single follows the success of the bands 2021 EP ‘The Collab Project', a project with a mental health initiative aimed at giving their fans, friends and followers a platform to talk about their mental health. This EP featured collaborations with chart topping artists like Sonny Sandoval of P.O.D, Kellin Quinn of Sleeping With Sirens, Trenton Woodley of Hands Like Houses and Sydney Rae White of The Wild Things, and received critical acclaim from both press and fans alike, while racking up millions of streams across DSPs. Now Written By Wolves made up of vocalist Michael Murphy, guitarists Davie Wong, and Bahador Borhani, drummer Karl Woodmans and percussionist Oli Lyons, are back and ready to bring their fresh and progressive, cinematic rock to the world starting with their latest single “GIVE 'EM HELL”. This single finds Written By Wolves examining an all too real subject of how the division in our society could possibly lead to our downfall.Renowned for their highly energetic live show, the Written By Wolves have already shared the stage with international heavyweights such as Machine Gun Kelly, Limp Bizkit, Pendulum, Sublime With Rome, Suicidal Tendencies, Hed PE, Falling In Reverse, Escape The Fate, We The Kings, Four Year Strong, Stevie Stone, Kehlani and have recently completed back-to-back tours with two of New Zealand's biggest Rock bands - Devilskin and Blindspott. Written By Wolves announced themselves on the world stage with their debut release, ‘Secrets' in 2019 and followed that up with their 2021 hit EP ‘The Collab Project, continuing to capture new listeners across the globe. Today Written By Wolves are one of the highest streamed rock bands from New Zealand, having amassed more than 350,000 monthly listeners, 50,000 followers and more than 60 million streams on Spotify and over 113,000 subscribers and 66 million views on YouTube. However, Written By Wolves are not done yet, and plan to bring their sound to the masses as they continue to release their genre bending cinematic music starting with their latest release “GIVE ‘EM HELL”.We want to hear from you! Let's be honest, very few of us thought Hundred Reasons would make music again. Most of us also didn't expect Glorious Sunset to be their best record yet, and easily one of the stand-out rock albums of 2023. No-one thought they'd come on a podcast of such little merit. Join us as we sit down with bassist Andy Gilmour, pre-release, and take a nostalgia trip through video rental stores, minidisc players, Leeds Festival and Top of the Pops. Internet banking phishing scams, Spotify royalties and, at some point, music are also discussed. Can you imagine. In one of the greatest moments in music interview history, 5-year-old Logan asks Andy a question which requires him to dig into the very essence of his soul: "Cheese string or Babybel?" An explorative journey into 'active' and 'passive' cheeses then begins. To warm you up (or turn you off), we chat about mundane superpowers, hangovers and whether patio furniture is an appropriate anniversary present.
This time we're joined by Luke and Josh, two thirds of brutal UK metal outfit Pupil Slicer. They're lovely lads too, which adds to our theory that the nastiest, heaviest bands are always the most pleasant people you can ever chat to. While we do have a chat about their musical influences, YouTube reaction videos and their upcoming record, we also spent a hefty amount of time discussing which animal has the best eyeballs. Standard. Before Luke and Josh jump in, it's all about Center Parcs, velvetising (which sounds rude but isn't) and identifying adult-only snacks. We also decide to go head-to-head with Logan Paul and KSI with our new drink, Past It's Prime.
Episode 49 - On this week's episode we are joined by Four Year Strong guitarist and vocalist Alan Day! We get into touring, Christmas Tree farming, ticket scalping, producing for young artists, and the ups and downs of being in a band. (17:35). We kick the show off with some bizarre Avenged Sevenfold news (1:15), take a little trip down memory lane, or should we say Page Avenue (11:38) & some Summer Tours we're looking forward to (13:30). We end the show recapping our 28 day, album a day adventure and sharing our thoughts and takeaways (1:20:17).

For the back half of the show we get into some news (1:15:56) and a listener voicemail who got himself into a concert predicament (1:26:20).
This week on the show we are blessed with one of my favorite people, Jonathan Rechsteiner. Jon is our guitar tech and my keeper. He techs for other artists like Intervals, Four Year Strong, I See Stars and The Contortionist. If you want to get on the road teching, this is the episode for you. We also spin a few songs of Jon's band Our Vices. Its metalcore as f*ck. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Welcome to an all-new Films for the Void, Bonus Episode #13! In this episode, Landon interviews Mo Doron - a Chicago-based graphic designer and photographer whose past artist collaborations include Evanescence, Four Year Strong, JER, Seaway, and Bearings. As a wearer of many hats in the DIY music scene, you may recognize them from self-starting Support Your Fellow Rockers, an organization that connects bands and artists in indie circles with resources while on tour. More than likely, however, you probably know them as the brand manager and graphic designer for a 3-Day Chicago-based punk rock music festival taking place September 16-18 at Douglass Park with headlining performances from My Chemical Romance, The Misfits, and Nine Inch Nails. You can find them on Twitter @_MODORO and their portfolio is available on their website modoro.co. Landon and Mo chat about sneaking out to go to house shows in Minneapolis, loving the Midwest, managing the brand for a beloved music festival, and some of their favorite movies of all-time - all on the latest episode of Films for the Void!TIME STAMPS00:00:16 Interview w/ Mo Doron00:38:20 Round Robin Movie Discussion
