In der 75. Folge des #justfuckindoit Podcasts spreche ich persönlich mit dem Musiker, Produzenten und Unternehmer Carl-Hendrik Baumhöfener in seinem Allgäuer Studio über sein Bühnenprogramm "Vom Krisenstab zum Joystick - Entwicklungshilfe für das Wesentliche". In Songs wie "30 Jahre Therapie und scheinbar nix passiert", "Erinner dich wer du warst, bevor du jemand sein musstest" oder "Du bist'n geiler Typ" singt er dort über seine langjährige Psychotherapiegeschichte und Erfahrungen mit sich selbst, seiner Mutter, Ex-Frau, Familie und dem Leben. Seine von ihm eigens dafür geschaffene Musikrichtung beschreibt er als Traumapop. Hendrik ist auch Gastmentor im #justfuckindoit Langzeitcoachingprogramm, das am 5.1.2024 neu startet. In der heutigen Folge spreche ich mit Finna. Sie beschreibt sich selbst als Work in Progress und fühlt sich seit Beginn ihrer Rap Karriere immer mehr bei sich angekommen. In jungen Jahren sang sie in einem Chor und fühlte sich eher zu Funk, Punk und Rock hingezogen. Im Hip Hop hat sie sich wegen des damals propagierten Frauenbilds nicht sehen können. Erst später entdeckt sie bei einem Konzert von Sookee, dass sie ihre politische Botschaft mit den Beats von Hip Hop kombinieren kann. Musik ist Politik Im Interview erklärt sie genauer, wieso für sie Musik immer politisch ist. Ihre Musik entsteht in diesem Bewusstsein und so verkörpert sie immer auch ihre - sich weiterentwickelnde - Haltung. In Songs wie Overscheiß, Papierkrieg und thematisiert sie unter anderem Bodyshaming, Ableismus und Homophobie. Body Positivity Wir sprechen im Detail über Finnas Song "Overscheiß". Sie erzählt, was ihr geholfen hat Schönheit neu zu entdecken und ihren eigenen Körper lieben zu lernen. Außerdem geht sie offen mit ihren Mental Health Problemen um, die neben den ohnehin schon vorhandenen seelischen Verletzungen weiterekreiert aufgrund von "Papierkrieg". Als "Mit Pfefferminz bin ich dein Prinz" 1978 rauskommt, ist Marius Müller-Westernhagen schon ein etablierter Schauspieler. Nur mit der Sänger- und Songschreiberkarriere will es nicht so ganz klappen. Die drei ersten Alben sind irgendwo zwischen Liedermacher und Schlager angesiedelt. Mit dem Pfefferminz Album ändert sich das. Müller-Westernhagen wandelt sich zum rauen Rocker. Das Album wird zum Westernhagen Klassiker. Rockig, bluesig und provokant. Manche Songs, wie "Mit 18" sind autobiographisch geprägt. Ein betrunkener Proll, Ein Zuhälter, ein schwuler Liebhaber. Im Song "Dicke" hält er der Gesellschaft bitterböse den Spiegel vor. In Songs of Seoul: An Ethnography of Voice and Voicing in Christian South Korea (University of California Press, 2013), Nicholas Harkness explores the human voice as an instrument, and object, and an emblem in a rich ethnography of songak in Christian South Korea. In Songs of Seoul, the voice is deeply embodied. It is also shaped by an aesthetics of progress, as songak singers cultivate a “clean” voice that becomes an emblem for that progress in terms of Christian and national advancement. Part 1 of the book introduces readers to the vocal practices enacted by songak singers to cultivate clean voices, situating these practices in the histories and spaces from which they emerge and considering the relationship between singing and evangelism in modern Korea. Part 2 considers the voice as a nexus of social relations, considering how singers navigate between church and university, home and abroad, peers and superiors. It analyzes the (simultaneously public and intimate) ritual performances of songak singing, paying special attention to the role of singing in creating affective bonds among members of Christian Korean communities. Harkness's book is an inspiring, thoughtful ethnography that contributes to a wide range of fields, and will be of special interest to anyone who enjoys reading about modern Korea, sound studies, music history, religion, and performance studies.
