E394 – "Inner Voice: A Heartfelt Chat with Dr. Foojan Zeine." In this episode, Dr. Foojan Zeine chats with Sean McMann. Sean was recruited right out of college to work at one of the largest data firms,  and he embarked on an eight-year journey from a new graduate to a consulting director. Privileged to see behind the curtain of some of the largest corporations today, he recognized the system was broken and quit at the height of his career, when working the least but making the most money he ever had, betting everything, including his money, reputation, and time, on trying to fix the problem of the corporate jungle. He shares his insights in his new book, Hacking the Corporate Jungle: How to Work Less, Make More and Actually Like Your Life.    www.seanmcmann.com # 1 on the 20 Best California Mental Health Podcasts list by FeedSpot. https://podcasts.feedspot.com/california_mental_health_podcasts/  Check out my website: www.FoojanZeine.com, www.AwarenessIntegration.com, www.Foojan.com Summary Corporate Power and Societal Impact Sean McMahon, a former data firm consultant, discussed his views on the corporate world and its societal role. He expressed concerns about the inefficiency and power of large corporations, arguing that they prioritize profit over people and contribute to societal issues. Sean suggested that corporations need to shift their goals from profit above all else to something else, but hasn't yet figured out what that should be. He also mentioned his book, "Hacking the Corporate Jungle," which explores these ideas. Dr. and Sean discussed the potential for corporations to evolve and adapt to changing societal needs, the inefficiencies in corporate structures, and the need for a shift in focus toward a more human-centric approach. He proposed that with efficiency and time saved, individuals should focus on activities that make them feel alive and contribute to their mental health, highlighting the need for a more efficient structure that benefits all, not just a few. They also discussed the potential for individuals to create their businesses and the importance of understanding the value of time in maintaining mental and physical health. They discussed the importance of self-discovery, identity, and fulfillment in one's career. Dedicating one's life to a corporation can lead to unhappiness and a lack of creativity. Sean suggested that people allocate some of their peak creative hours to their corporation while using the rest for personal creativity and self-care. They discussed their journeys and the factors that have shaped their lives. Sean shared his experiences since quitting his job, including a period of depression and a journey to process trauma, which led him to find hope and excitement in his daily life despite the uncertainty of his future. Dr. then shared her experiences working in a sales role and discovering her identity. Dr. decided to leave the role after realizing it required her to become a "barracuda" to make more money. Instead, she became a therapist, created her own companies and nonprofits, and eventually developed her own models. Dr. discussed the challenges of growing a collaborative community, highlighting the difficulty of maintaining structure while allowing individuality and adaptability. Sean agreed, noting the contrast between hierarchical and network structures and the need to shift towards a more networked approach to problem-solving. Both emphasized the importance of human collaboration and adaptability in complex problems. Sean McMahon, author of "Hacking the Corporate Jungle," discussed the importance of listening to one's inner voice when feeling discontent in their job. He emphasized that it's about being grateful for the job and exploring the reasons behind dissatisfaction. Sean encouraged everyone to contact him if they wanted to discuss their concerns. Most entrepreneurs believe growth requires sacrificing everything else. Jonathan Goodman proves you can scale a business without giving up your freedom. He's built multiple companies, written 12 books (including The Obvious Choice), and scaled coaching businesses to 7-figures—all while spending half the year living abroad with his family. How? By mastering the art of incentives, knowing when to not scale, and investing in cash-flowing assets that work harder than he does.In today's episode, we break down the wealth-building strategies Jonathan used to scale a business to $35M+ in revenue. We explore why most investments fail to beat the returns generated by a well-run business, a leveraged personal brand, or an asymmetric bet like Bitcoin.Jonathan also shares how he structures his businesses to maximize freedom and avoid the common pitfalls of scaling. If you're looking for a playbook on building wealth, designing a business that doesn't take over your life, and making sure your money works for you—not the other way around—this episode has the answers. In this episode, you'll learn:✅ Jonathan's “whales and minnows” framework for eliminating 80% of your workload—why most entrepreneurs waste time on tasks that don't move the needle, and how Jonathan ensures every hour works for him.✅ The “eight-four rule” of seasonal living—how Jonathan avoids burnout and stays at peak performance by alternating between intense work sprints and extended time off.✅ How to design scalable compensation systems that turn employees into partners—the secret to building a team that's as invested in success as you are, without micromanaging.Show Notes: LifestyleInvestor.com/221Tax Strategy MasterclassIf you're interested in learning more about Tax Strategy and how YOU can apply 28 of the best, most effective strategies right away, check out our BRAND NEW Tax Strategy Masterclass: www.lifestyleinvestor.com/taxStrategy Session For a limited time, my team is hosting free, personalized consultation calls to learn more about your goals and determine which of our courses or masterminds will get you to the next level. How many hours a week do you spend making notes to try and retain as much as possible? And how much is still getting lost along the way? Traditional CRM systems weren't built for the type of recruitment business you're running right now. They were built to rely on the structured, tagged, categorised, and formal data you could feed it. Manual processes that needed you to input specific information, based on specific questions and answers. But what about all the other conversations you're having every single day? Key Takeaway: Working less to achieve more is a paradigm shift in the traditional hustle culture, especially among agency owners in the marketing realm. Alyson Caffrey joins me in elucidating how the Sabbatical Method is transforming the marketing systems landscape. We delve into the concept of "systematic rest," an innovative approach to interspersing work with adequate rest to prevent burnout and enhance productivity and creativity significantly. Nick welcomes business mastermind James Schramko. to discuss his journey from working in the automotive industry to becoming a successful online entrepreneur. James shares his experiences of transitioning from a high-pressure job to creating a thriving online business that provides him with the freedom and flexibility he desires. He emphasises the importance of personal effectiveness, building a small team, having a good offer, and choosing the right business model. James also highlights the significance of focusing on customers, recurring subscriptions, and avoiding shortcuts in business.  KEY TAKEAWAYS Focus on increasing personal effectiveness by doing the right things, not necessarily working long hours. Build a small team to alleviate the pressure of having to do every role in the business. Have a good offer or product to make life easier; focus on customers and genuinely care about them for repeat business. Insist on having a recurring subscription at a higher price point for leverage in the business model. Avoid shortcuts, bad clients, and dodgy offers that sound too good to be true. BEST MOMENTS "I went from zero to 300 grand a year in two and a half years" "It's about having a good offer. Like almost everything's easy if you have a good offer. If you don't have a good offer or you don't have a good product, life's going to be difficult."  "Focus on customers and actually care about them and then you'll find you get repeat, referral, lifetime relationship. I love having clients for 7, 8 years, 15 years." Should you pay off student loans or invest in real estate? This is the question Tom Keating had to ask himself back in 2018. At the time, he had no real estate investing experience and only picked up The Book on Rental Property Investing by chance. He still had student loans but decided to spend his savings (which could have made him debt-free) on the down payment for his first rental property. Now, just six years later, Tom has an entire real estate portfolio of passive and active investments and is free from his W2! If you've got some form of debt—student loans, credit card debt, medical debt, etc.—you might think you can't invest in real estate, but you'd be wrong. In today's episode, Tom breaks down the simple equation you can use to figure out whether you should pay off your debt or invest.
