What if your private practice could finally give you the money, freedom, and balance you've always wanted—without the endless hustle or burnout? That's exactly what today's guest, Ellie Richter, created for herself. Ellie is the owner of The Essential Teletherapist, and she's transformed her career from driving all over town for clients to running a thriving telepractice on her own terms.Ellie has been an SLP since 2010, working primarily as a bilingual therapist in nonprofits. In 2022, she decided to step away from traditional roles and test out private practice with just a handful of clients. By 2024, she went all in—rebranding, creating clear systems, and designing a practice that aligned with her values and family's needs. At first, Ellie took any client she could, driving around for home visits. But as a mom and primary parent, the stress of being on the road was unsustainable. Around the same time, health challenges within her family pushed her to rethink her income, schedule, and priorities. With support from the Start and later the Grow Your Private Practice Program, Ellie clarified her vision, set her rates, and built a plan that worked. She leaned into her expertise in bilingual therapy and school contracts, while also developing a new passion—helping other SLPs succeed at teletherapy. Within her first year of going all in, Ellie hit six figures, built contracts through word of mouth, and created a business that truly worked for her life.In this episode, Ellie shares how she specializes in bilingual evaluations, early intervention, and teletherapy. Through her practice, The Essential Teletherapist, she not only serves children and families but also trains other SLPs to deliver effective virtual services. And how she built her business around family life—choosing her hours, and creating systems for what she calls “maximal ease.” She continues to refine her practice so it's sustainable long term, both financially and personally. In this episode, we discuss:How Ellie transitioned from nonprofit work to launching her own practiceWhat it looks like to build a bilingual teletherapy and school contract modelThe mindset shifts she made to prioritize ease and balanceAnd why aligning her business with her family's needs has been the key to successEllie's story proves that you don't have to choose between being a present parent and building a successful career. With clarity, systems, and support, you can create a practice that works for you—and build it on your own terms.Want to create a private practice that gives you freedom, flexibility, and fulfillment—just like Ellie has? In this episode of the Seven Figure Consultant Podcast, I reflect on the evolution of the podcast and how my coaching now supports B2B consultants at all revenue stages. I talk about the three key business growth ‘eras' I coach and the importance of creating a $100K consulting offer so you can work less and earn more. I also introduce my new free guide, The Business Remodel, and announce limited spots for private coaching in 2026. If you're ready to elevate your consulting business, this episode is for you! Quotes:  “When you start to offer high ticket consulting where you're serving the top of the market - the companies who can actually afford you, using your whole brain and the depth of your expertise and experience instead of just 3% of your skills and abilities - this means you can serve a handful of clients and make insane money as a result.” “It's not always about doing loads of really hard and scary things. It's about finding that alignment - doing the things that come naturally to you, instead of feeling like you have to become a completely different person and override all your natural instincts and your intuition.” “You aren't yet financially free and you plan to invest more into your retirement fund. You want to serve at a higher level, and work with senior leaders and C suite level leaders. You want your advice and expertise to make a difference in companies that shape the world. And this is my favourite bit - you want all of these things AND to be back in time for dinner. You want your weekly yoga class and coffee with your friends and time outdoors with your pets, and to live a healthier lifestyle without perpetual stress and rushing. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that your $100K consulting offer will put your business in a place where it delivers all of these things.” Useful Links Free Guide: The Business Remodel - Craft Your $100k Offer Get in touch with Jessica to discuss your consulting business Join the weekly newsletter for women consultants Buy Too Much on Amazon Leave a rating and review for the Seven Figure Consultant Podcast Connect with Jessica on LinkedIn Follow Jessica on Instagram

Today, I interview John Briggs, who once believed that working harder and earning more was the ultimate measure of success, until the cost of that belief showed up at home.He grew up as the youngest in a religious family, often singled out and bullied in his childhood. Making himself small felt like the only way to stay safe. Even in the workplace years later, that pattern repeated. His voice silenced under systems that rewarded overwork and discouraged questioning the norm. The breakthrough came late one night, when John walked into his house at 2 a.m. and was met not with silence, but with his pregnant wife in tears. She told him she felt like a single parent. That moment shattered his assumptions about success and forced him to reflect on what he was really building, and who he was building it for.Since then, John has taken real steps to change not just how he works, but how he lives. He's created a new standard, one that honors presence, productivity, and the people who matter most. Today, he teaches others how to step out of the hustle and into a more harmonized way of working, where you don't lose yourself in the process.__________________John Briggs is widely recognized for his innovative approach to productivity and work-life harmony, encapsulated in his book The 3.3 Rule: The New Workday Standard of Creating More by Working Less. His approach has not only led to significant revenue growth for his company and clients but also promotes sustainable work-life harmony by combating the damaging hustle culture mindset.__________________Find John here:https://incitetax.com/https://www.youtube.com/incitetaxhttps://www.instagram.com/incitetax/https://www.facebook.com/incitetaxhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/johnbriggscpa/Support the showI'm Dr. Doreen Downing and I help people find their voice so they can speak without fear. As we get honest with ourselves and each other, Arden and I compare notes on ambition, letting go of hustle culture, and what it takes to design a career around joy, flexibility, and enoughness. We get into how becoming a parent (or simply changing priorities) can challenge your definition of success, why “good enough” can be the most sustainable business strategy, and how neither of us wants to sacrifice well-being for the next rung on the ladder. We talk about giving up perfectionism, resisting comparison, and setting boundaries that actually stick—even when the old pressures flare up.If you've ever wondered what would happen if you worked less but cared even more, this episode is for you.Resources:Connect with Arden on LinkedInConnect with me:InstagramLinkedInYouTubeselfatwork.comProduced by NOVA

This episode is sponsored by Riverside. Head to https://creators.riverside.fm/lizmosley to check it out and use the code lizmosley for a 15% discount. This week, I'm excited to share a slightly different episode of the Building Your Brand podcast. I was joined in the studio by two previous guests, Hannah and Lois, for a candid conversation about a topic I don't think is discussed enough: the fear of success. It turns out this fear has a name – the Jonah Complex – and it can show up in all sorts of sneaky ways, from procrastination to self-sabotage. We delved into what the fear of success looks like for each of us, how it holds us back, and what we can do to start working through it. We touch on everything from the pressure of maintaining success to how our relationships can change and the stories we tell ourselves about what success even means. This was such an insightful and inspiring chat, and I hope it gets you thinking about your own relationship with success.   Key Takeaways: Define Your Own Success: Success isn't a one-size-fits-all concept. 3It's crucial to get clear on what success looks and feels like for you personally, rather than chasing a version of success defined by others or society. Embrace the Process: The journey towards your goals is just as important as reaching the destination. We often adapt to achievements quickly, so finding joy and value in the day-to-day process is key to long-term fulfilment. Challenge Your Internal Stories: We all have narratives in our heads about what success entails – that it's stressful, that it requires sacrificing time with family, or that it will make people dislike us. It's powerful to question these stories, unpick our judgements of others, and intentionally decide if we're making choices out of fear or true desire. Get Comfortable with Discomfort: Pushing towards something new will inevitably feel uncomfortable because it's something you haven't done before. Learning to tolerate this discomfort is essential for growth, and it's different from being mean to yourself.    Episode Highlights: 03:31: The topic for today's episode is the fear of success, which came about after a conversation between the three of us. 08:08: Lois shares her fear of niching down into the wrong thing and how coaching helped her reframe her perspective on success and capacity. 11:05: I talk about how my most significant moments of success were defined by the feeling of security they gave me, not the achievement itself. 23:20: I discuss the fear of the stress and responsibility that can come with a certain level of success, like being a CEO, and Hannah challenges that assumption. 39:18: We discuss what steps we can take away from the conversation to work through our own fears of success.   About the Guests: Hannah runs Hi Communications, where she helps small business owners with their marketing. She is also the author of The Best 90 Days Ever.   Today on the podcast, I am chatting to Rich Webster, who is a designer, entrepreneur, mentor, and consultant. He helps other creative entrepreneurs work less, and I've personally been a fan of his work and podcast for a few years now. We're talking all about how to work less, but as you'll hear, we dive into so much more, from focusing your business to the real impact of mental clutter. I really hope you enjoy this one!   Key Takeaways The 1% Brain Power Myth: Rich explained that the difference between dedicating 1% of your brainpower to a task versus 0% isn't just 1% – it feels more like 100%. Letting go of lingering business responsibilities, even small ones, can free up an enormous amount of mental space. Diversification as Distraction: Contrary to popular advice, Rich argues that diversification can often be a distraction, especially for solopreneurs. Narrowing your focus to the one or two things that provide the highest leverage can be far more effective for growth. Expert vs. Marketing Business: When looking to grow, solopreneurs often burn out trying to excel at both high-level client fulfilment and extensive marketing. Rich suggests choosing a path: either an "expert business" (scaling with price by becoming a sought-after specialist) or a "marketing business" (scaling with volume through products that don't require your direct time for fulfilment). Systemise Your "Non-Genius" Work: Identify your highest leverage tasks (for Rich, it's thinking and writing) and systemise everything else. This involves creating standard operating procedures, templates, and delegating, allowing you to spend more time in your zone of genius. The "One In, One Out" Rule for Your Time: Inspired by a minimalist philosophy for the home, Rich suggests that if you bring a new commitment or task (like starting Morning Pages) into your life, you should consciously remove something else to make space for it.     Episode Highlights 01:00: Rich shares his powerful origin story, touching on his journey from addiction to becoming an entrepreneur and how that shapes his perspective. 09:00: The surprising mental cost of keeping even seemingly small business commitments active; that final leap to 0% makes a huge difference. 11:00: Rich presents his compelling argument that "diversification is distraction" and why focusing your efforts is often the smarter move for sustainable growth. 17:00: An exploration of the two distinct business models solopreneurs can adopt to avoid burnout: the "expert business" scaling with price, or the "marketing business" scaling with volume. 46:00: Applying a minimalist household rule to your business and time: if you decide to add a new activity or commitment, what will you remove to make space for it?   About the Guest Rich Webster is a designer, entrepreneur, mentor, and consultant who helps creative entrepreneurs work less and achieve more. E394 – "Inner Voice: A Heartfelt Chat with Dr. Foojan Zeine." In this episode, Dr. Foojan Zeine chats with Sean McMann. Sean was recruited right out of college to work at one of the largest data firms,  and he embarked on an eight-year journey from a new graduate to a consulting director. Privileged to see behind the curtain of some of the largest corporations today, he recognized the system was broken and quit at the height of his career, when working the least but making the most money he ever had, betting everything, including his money, reputation, and time, on trying to fix the problem of the corporate jungle. He shares his insights in his new book, Hacking the Corporate Jungle: How to Work Less, Make More and Actually Like Your Life.    www.seanmcmann.com # 1 on the 20 Best California Mental Health Podcasts list by FeedSpot. https://podcasts.feedspot.com/california_mental_health_podcasts/  Check out my website: www.FoojanZeine.com, www.AwarenessIntegration.com, www.Foojan.com Summary Corporate Power and Societal Impact Sean McMahon, a former data firm consultant, discussed his views on the corporate world and its societal role. He expressed concerns about the inefficiency and power of large corporations, arguing that they prioritize profit over people and contribute to societal issues. Sean suggested that corporations need to shift their goals from profit above all else to something else, but hasn't yet figured out what that should be. He also mentioned his book, "Hacking the Corporate Jungle," which explores these ideas. Dr. and Sean discussed the potential for corporations to evolve and adapt to changing societal needs, the inefficiencies in corporate structures, and the need for a shift in focus toward a more human-centric approach. He proposed that with efficiency and time saved, individuals should focus on activities that make them feel alive and contribute to their mental health, highlighting the need for a more efficient structure that benefits all, not just a few. They also discussed the potential for individuals to create their businesses and the importance of understanding the value of time in maintaining mental and physical health. They discussed the importance of self-discovery, identity, and fulfillment in one's career. Dedicating one's life to a corporation can lead to unhappiness and a lack of creativity. Sean suggested that people allocate some of their peak creative hours to their corporation while using the rest for personal creativity and self-care. They discussed their journeys and the factors that have shaped their lives. Sean shared his experiences since quitting his job, including a period of depression and a journey to process trauma, which led him to find hope and excitement in his daily life despite the uncertainty of his future. Dr. then shared her experiences working in a sales role and discovering her identity. Dr. decided to leave the role after realizing it required her to become a "barracuda" to make more money. Instead, she became a therapist, created her own companies and nonprofits, and eventually developed her own models. Dr. discussed the challenges of growing a collaborative community, highlighting the difficulty of maintaining structure while allowing individuality and adaptability. Sean agreed, noting the contrast between hierarchical and network structures and the need to shift towards a more networked approach to problem-solving. Both emphasized the importance of human collaboration and adaptability in complex problems. Sean McMahon, author of "Hacking the Corporate Jungle," discussed the importance of listening to one's inner voice when feeling discontent in their job. He emphasized that it's about being grateful for the job and exploring the reasons behind dissatisfaction. Sean encouraged everyone to contact him if they wanted to discuss their concerns.
