He can't imagine doing such a terrible thing, but Eddie hasn't been himself lately. Eddie's anxiety is nothing new to Pär, the one Eddie calls his Other, who protects Eddie from truths he's too sensitive to face. Or so Pär says. Troubled by Pär's increasing sway over his life, Eddie seeks out Dr. Richard Montgomery, a specialist in dissociative identities. The psychiatrist is Eddie's best chance for piecing together the puzzle of what really happened to Lucy and to understanding his inexplicable memories of another man's life. But Montgomery's methods trigger a kaleidoscope of memories that Pär can't contain, bringing Eddie closer to an unimaginable truth about his identity.

If you want to know the value of investing in a child and especially in teenagers, Joel Johnson is one of the greatest examples. He grew up with a Father that left him, a step father that hurt him, threatened him, and left him. Yet... God saw him! He asked Jesus into his heart and his youth pastor challenged him. He took those challenges and did what was unheard of as he kept sharing the salvation story of Jesus Christ boldly on campus. One day he spoke to several hundred students at lunch about Jesus, while having two assistant principals telling him to stop... One of them yelling at him "What gives you the right to speak about your faith?" Just wait until you hear how the students responded! Joel has spoken to hundreds of thousands since he was one of the main speakers for the Acquire The Fire student conferences that were hosted in arenas and stadiums accross the United States. He has also written many books and his latest ("The Wholehearted Journey: 7 Skills to Develop a Wholehearted Life in a Heartbreaking World") is being made into a movie! WATCH THE MOVIE TRAILER HERE: www.wholeheartedmovie.com Joel also studied at Texas A&M and Harvard. He is an author, counselor, a national communicator, and podcast host of the "Wholehearted Podcast". Take a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Corinne Britti. Corinne is a comedian and an actress. Her recent projects include: For Sale, Condor's Nest, Take Care of Emily, and Saturday Night. In this episode, we chat about what made her want to be an actress, and why she felt NYU Tisch was the place to go. We discuss some of the things that you DON'T learn in acting school, and some of the things she learned at the Stone Street Conservatory. Corinne shares funny audition stories, and even a story about why there were bodies strewn all over her apartment during Covid! I ask her about the live comedy show / therapy session she co-created, and whether she plans to bring it back. She shares how she came to work on an ICE T music video, and we talk about some of her previous projects, and some of the weird ways that filmmakers find their talent. Naturally we touch on her new film SATURDAY NIGHT; which is in theaters NOW. In this film, Corinne plays real life comedian Valri Bromfield; and the film covers the back stage events in the hour or so leading up to the LIVE pilot of Saturday Night Live. Since this film is directed and co-written by Jason Reitman, naturally I ask what it was like to work with him, and I ask if she would ever work with him again. Her answer may surprise you..... but probably not! GO SEE SATURDAY NIGHT!!

Check out Dr. Castagnini Podcast at:https://behindthebitepodcast.com/course/In her own words:There was really never a question that I was going to spend my life trying to help people who were in pain or suffering feel or get better. I just somehow knew it was something I was going to do.Perhaps others saw that in me as well. When I was in high school, my friend's dad saw an ad in a local paper for teen advice columnists, he told my friend I should apply because everyone was always coming to me for advice. So, out came the hefty typewriter, and off went my application. Before I knew it, I was writing a teen advice column. My Education....The University of California Santa Cruz was where I realized that I wanted to pursue a career in mental health. Starting with my first psychology course, I just "knew".Initially, I thought I wanted to pursue medical school and become a psychiatrist. So, while I majored in psychology, I also took the courses required for medical school. I even took the MCAT's. But, then something hit me as I was knee-deep into med school applications: I truly loved all of my psychology courses. I loved experiencing actual clinical work during an upper-division course. This led me to do something completely unexpected: I switched gears and applied only to graduate programs in clinical psychology. After two years at UCSC, and one year studying on exchange at the University of British Columbia, I earned my BA in Psychology, graduating with honors.2 years later, I was inducted into Psi Chi, the National Honors Society for Psychology, as a Lifetime Member, and earned my MA in Clinical Psychology, with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pepperdine University.I completed my doctoral studies at the University of Southern California, where I earned my PhD in Counseling Psychology. My Career....After graduate school, I was a postdoctoral resident at Kaiser Permanente. I spent the following 15 years as a staff psychologist in the adult psychiatry department while also running my own small private practice one day a week. While at Kaiser, I was the lead eating disorder specialist in my department. As the years went on, I realized that I wanted to continue doing clinical work. But, I also wanted the opportunity to do something different. Something that had a bigger, wider reach. So, I left Kaiser in October of 2019 to open my practice full-time.And Here We Are...I love that I have an opportunity to start something truly meaningful and personally near and dear to my heart. This podcast is for those of you out there who are: struggling with disordered eating....a full blown eating disorder....yo-yo dieting and struggling with weight.....body image issues.....feel like you can only be happy if you lose weight or look a certain way....or are just plain feeling trapped in a life where you can't make peace with food or your body.I was there. For years. And when I was going through my struggles, podcasts just did not exist. I wish they had. I needed to know that other people were going through what I was. I needed to hear about what types of help are out there..even help besides therapy. I needed to hear other people just talk about it. To know I was not alone. To hear that recovery is possible.I have worked with enough patients over the years to know that once you get information....once you gain the knowledge and awareness....things can start to change. But you need to hear it first. So, I am trying to get this information heard. I am trying to help from beyond the couch in this next chapter. I can only do so much from behind 4 walls---time to break them down and help more people now.I welcome you to join me and listen.I welcome you with open arms and an open ear. Send us a Text Message.Venturing beyond the safety of scripts and structured dialogues, I embark on a vulnerable expedition into the heart of mental health awareness. Facing the societal whirlwind of stigma and the personal tug-of-war between openness and career vulnerability, I lay bare my own encounters with these invisible battles, hoping to light a beacon for more compassionate discourse. This episode travels through the murkier waters of mental health repercussions, from the shadows of poverty to the echoes of family discord, inviting listeners to understand the ripple effects of our collective silence. With no guest to lean on, I turn to an anonymous tale from NRK.no, originally penned in Norwegian, to frame our discussion on the intersection of mental health and disability. This raw narrative serves as a candid backdrop, accentuating the amplified challenges faced by individuals with functional impairments and the pressing need for nuanced support systems. As we untangle the complex strands of psychological distress and psychiatric disorders, the episode seeks to not only elevate understanding but also champion the call for early interventions and a more embracing global approach to mental health. His journey has taken him from shocked witness, toarmchair enthusiast, to field researcher, and finally to citizen-scientist. His twelve years ofexperience in the mental/behavioral health field were put to a test when heundertook a study to document those aftereffects in Bigfoot witnesses with acase study that encompassed over four hundred witnesses interviewed, over1200 hours of interview time, and three years of work.Published in 2019, that study to this day remains unchallenged by anyone in theBigfoot Community and proposed a new mental health disorder: ParanormalEncounter Syndrome, a condition of acute stress response approaching PTSD. In Phyllis's own words:I have just written book called America in Therapy: A New Approach To Hope And Healing For A Nation In Crisis, in which I talk about the urgency to bring our whole country to therapy in a way never written about before. From years of experience as a client myself, and well over 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist working extensively with individual and family dysfunction and abuse, I felt a deep calling to share all I have learned with the public and demonstrate how the principles of the best psychotherapy can be used to help heal our country of escalating hatred, divisiveness and violence. I speak to all of us who fear for our children and all future generations, who may feel hopeless or resigned or simply don't know what to do to help create a more loving and sustainable world. I bring a message of both urgency and hope, in language the layman can easily relate to and understand, through personal stories, client case studies, and professional expertise. My basic premise is that we are on a collision course with our own extinction and I see this as a national and global mental health crisis that is not being addressed. I explore the direct correlation between the most destructive family dynamics on the individual level and many of the behaviors and actions of some of our most powerful institutions and leaders, and I highlight that millions of us are suffering the effects of national psychological dysfunction in ways we might not be aware of. I help the listener understand that many answers of how to heal our human relations and restore us to peace and safety are already known and used effectively in the field of psychotherapy and that there is HOPE if we can take everything we know about healing into national conversation. The best psychotherapy helps interrupt the cycle of violence— which is our best hope of prevention— and it involves a total reversal of many of the beliefs and dynamics that now run our country. I share with the listener, in ways not commonly understood or generally spoken of, all I have learned about what is needed to help restore us to safety, and how every one of us can participate in healing ourselves and our country, no matter how large or small our sphere of influence.Learn more at:https://www.phyllisleavitt.com Please leave a review or send us a Voice note letting us know what you enjoyed at:Back2Basics reconnecting to the essence of YOU (podpage.com)Follow us on IG and FB @Back2BasicsPodcast

One of the most common areas women struggle with that is directly connected to emotional eating is a lack of satisfying sexual intimacy and emotional connection with their partners. If you are craving more pleasure and connection with your partner but don't know how to ask for what you desire, then you may turn to food as a default form of pleasure to fill the void. If you feel stuck and hopeless that your relationship can improve, then this is the episode for you. I talk with Shana James, author of the book Honest Sex and relationship coach to men, all about the male and female psyche in relationships, and how women can create the connection they desire with their partner, regardless of how closed off he may seem. In this episode we discuss:Common mistakes women make in trying to feel loved and connected to their partner, that may be pushing him away.Becoming aware of how much you criticize your man into changing (there are better ways). How to express your desires and overcome your fear of rejection. The importance of honesty and vulnerability in connection, as a path to deepening intimacy. Why do men shut down and pull away if they feel like they are failing as a partner?Dismantling the myth that your husband will be more attracted to you if you lose weight. What to do if you feel like you're growing apart from your partner. This is such a mind and heart-opening episode for anyone committed to creating a more fulfilling love life with your man (and yourself). Enjoy!About Shana James: As a relationship coach for 20 years, Shana James has humbly discovered the causes of disconnection and distrust in relationships, as well as how to build trust and keep passion alive. Shana has a Master's in psychology, as well as DISC and Positive Intelligence certifications. She has facilitated decades of Authentic Relating workshops based on her training in communication, mindfulness, psychology and sensuality, and specializes in helping clients date and create healthy relationships after divorce.Shana is the creator and host of the Man Alive podcast, with 250+ episodes and more than half a million downloads, and has a TEDx Talk, “What 1,000 Men's Tears Reveal About the Crisis Between Men and Women.” She recently released her book Honest Sex: A Passionate Path to Deepen Connection and Keep Relationships Alive. Dr. Fred Hill was my pastor since I was in middle school. I came to know the love of God for the first time through him and his ministry. All ministries that God has led me to and allowed me to lead are because Dr. Hill said “Yes” to God when asked if he would become the pastor at our church. Dr. Hill was also a professor at High Point University in High Point, North Carolina where he taught educational psychology. He was a man of great integrity and humility. He loved God and he loved his family. I am forever grateful for his example of God's Love. Wish you could change the outcome of a meeting or conversation before it even gets started? What if someone could teach you how to position yourself in order to positively enhance your interactions with others? Seems like we all should know these kinds of things. Well… someone does! This person has influenced me and many others. Even though this person has not been a guest on this podcast (...yet), in this episode I talk about her research and many other things I learned that have been extremely useful to my ministry interactions. Her name is Vanessa Van Edwards and she is a behavioral investigator with Science of People and the author of “Captivate: The Science of Succeeding with People”. In a previous episode I talked about being “…wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” - Matthew 10:16. There is more in each one of us that God has placed there to be like Him and He is the biggest influencer of all time and space. Be an influencer like Jesus.
