In Darth Vader: Black, White & Red #4, we treated to three stories about Vader, including a hauntingly creepy story about his return to Hoth. The long-delayed The High Republic Adventures -- Quest of the Jedi from Dark Horse Comics is available and, to borrow a steady cliche, it was was worth the wait. The creative team has created a lavishly illustrated, tightly written one-shot comic set during The High Republic era that features Jedi, the light and dark sides and adds to that era's steadily expanding lore.In Marvel's Darth Vader: Black, White & Red #1 (of 4), the publisher's penchant for black & white comics finds firm footing in the galaxy far, far away, with Vader the prime subject in three different tales (one of which will anchor all four issues. There is no sparseness in the visual medium, rather clean, precise lines that brim with detail. Heavy hearts as we mark the passing of Stan Lee, who co-created some of Marvel's most enduring characters and, thankfully, reconsidered his position against adapting a yet-to-be released sci-fi film that was to be called Star Wars by Marvel (thank you, Roy Thomas, for convincing him otherwise!).We remember Lee for the visionary that he was and will never forget him.In this episode we tackle three comics -- two from Marvel and one from IDW -- and come away with some salient observations about character building, what makes an artist great and how a writer makes a story sing. On Saturday 10th September 2017, UK fans were very lucky to get the chance to meet JTC at ICE International Comics Expo held in Birmingham UK, on a very rare visit to Europe - possibly a once-in-a-lifetime trip! Axs the host of JTC's Spotlight Conversation Panel, I have to say it's been incredible to have the chance to spend time in the company of this amazing artist. And his family, too, who look like they've been having a whale of a time here in England! In this informal panel, we got into JTC's background, his start in the industry, his approach to his work and what drives him to produce such consistent and jaw dropping work. When he wasn't at the panel, he was glued to his table from the moment the doors opened to WAY beyond the actual close of the show, with no fan left wanting when it came to signatures or sketches.
