Send us a textOn this latest episode Dylan is joined by Geoff from Who Corner to Corner. Together they look at two 13th Doctor stories. First up it's the Titan Comic story 'Old Friends' written by Jody Houser with art by Roberta Ingranata and Rachael Stott. Then it's the BBC audio book 'The Romanov Project' written by Niel Bushnell and read by Toby Longworth. And as always they answer the burning questions:Who is an absolute bastard? What is a stot spot? What is Dylan not over?
March 2025 Book Club: We're joining the Thirteenth Doctor and her friends Graham, Ryan, and Yaz as we review the Titan Comics graphic novel “A New Beginning,” by comics writer Jody Houser and artist Rachael Stott. Special thanks to Tracey Norman and Corinne Pollard for performing the dramatic reading this month, which was recorded live at the UK Ghost Story Festival in Derby. The mystery is revealed in the 12th and final issue of Dark Horse Comics' Hyperspace Stories, with a heartwarming tale about a Rebel engineer set among the events of the Battle of Endor that brings the series to a solidly satisfying close. In The High Republic: Shadows of Starlight #3, Bell and Burryaga deal with the fallout of the Nihil operating unchecked while the bulk of the Jedi Order remains safely behind the walls of their Coruscant temple. The final pages see the capture of a Jedi grandmaster, one referred to in The High Republic Adventures Phase III #1.Bounty Hunters #41 (dammit, Ethan!) provides a fulfilling conclusion for most the book's characters, with just enough doors left open for more adventures down the road as the series barrels toward its January conclusion. Squarespace will honor existing customer pricing for at least 12 months following the completion of the purchase. It will also use Google's infrastructure to ensure a "seamless transfer of domains." For existing customers, Squarespace will provide billing and support for Google Workspace customers who've already purchased domains through Google Domains. However, as time goes on and as subscriptions start to renew, these customers will likely be forced to migrate to Squarespace's billing system. The acquisition is not surprising, as Squarespace is already a behemoth in the websites and domain space. However, it is a little more surprising that Google is selling, as the company is notorious for abandoning established products at any time.https://newsroom.squarespace.com/blog/googledomains ~Twitter - A group of music publishers is suing Twitter for $250 million, alleging that the company has done little to stop users from uploading and sharing copyrighted music on the platform. The lawsuit, filed by the National Music Publishers Association (NMPA), claims that Twitter has "routinely ignored" requests for takedowns and that it is one of the only major social media platforms that does not have licensing agreements in place with music publishers. The NMPA also alleges that Twitter is less likely to take action against verified accounts that share copyrighted music, even though these accounts often have large follower bases. This weekend, Shane Chebsey and his team have brought their not inconsiderable expertise of running the International Comic Expo shows for an inaugural event in the south-east coastal town of Margate in the UK. AEISD Leonard Sultana has been in attendance and has recorded the panels being held over the weekend - however, away from the panel room, Leonard managed to sneak some time in with prolific writer Si Spurrier who has found himself with plenty on his plate in recent years, with many projects occupying his time. Two of which - ANGELIC, with Caspar Wijngaard, Jim Campbell and Emma Price for Image Comics and MOTHERLANDS with Rachael Stott for DC/ Vertigo - were the main topic of conversation here. As the conversation went on, however, talk went on to another exciting, ambitious and, yes, intimidating project that Si has barreling out the pipe - Neil Gaiman's SANDMAN, for which he is writing one of the first books under that umbrella, THE DREAMING. That conversation was a whole meal in itself and so, include that here as a seperate presentation. Please do check out anenglishmaninsandiego.com for the rest of my chat with Si, as well as all of the other fascinating panels I recorded at ICE Margate, including Kieron Gillen, Simon Furman, Emma Vieceli and Dan Abnett. Thanks to Shane and his team for the putting on of the ICE Margate event, and to Si for allowing me to record and present this interview here.

On this episode of The Innovation Engine, we bring the podcast inside the Refraction headquarters to talk again with Rachael Stott on how place and space interact with and influence employees. Rachael joined us for a previous episode of the podcast, where we talked about her co-working space, Refraction, and how the physical environment of a workplace can have a marked impact on the performance of the teams in it. We decided to bring the podcast into the space to see how she put her ideas and designs into practice. Rachael Stott joins us again to lead us through the Refraction headquarters and show us how her ideas have come to life. Rachael is the Director of Refraction, a co-working space in Reston, VA for business leaders, creatives, and philanthropists. Refraction is a curated hub of creativity, collaboration, and innovation that helps businesses build more dynamic teams and grow their company. On this episode of The Innovation Engine, we'll be looking at the importance of place and space with Rachael Stott of Refraction. Among the topics we'll discuss are how the physical environment of a workplace can have a marked impact on the performance of the teams that work in it, some of the research Rachael conducted over the course of a 3-year period to come to some of these conclusions, why the angle at which a chair can recline can actually influence the way meetings unfold, and how all of these ideas are being put into practice at a co-working space in Northern Virginia called Refraction. Rachael Stott joins us to talk about all of this and more. Rachael is the Director of Refraction, a co-working space in Reston, VA for business leaders, creatives, and philanthropists. Rachael Stott is a comic book artist, currently doing covers and interior art for the official Doctor Who series published by Titan Comics, which follows Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor. And while she’s only been a professional comic artist for about two years, she’s already racked up an impressive resume. She drew the Star Trek/Planet of the Apes crossover series for IDW. She did covers for the licensed Assassin's Creed and Heroes comics, and covers for Archie. She provided covers for the Green Lantern / Star Trek crossover series, as well as covers and interiors for Ghostbusters International. She won the 2015 British Comics Award for Best Newcomer.
