In this emotionally charged and unfiltered episode of The Book Fix, Yajaira and Cheli revisit the Powerless trilogy by Lauren Roberts, a series that famously divided them as readers. What started as a five-star experience for Cheli quickly unraveled into heartbreak and disillusionment—"I lived, I laughed, I loved, I cried... and then you told me it sucked." From drunk filming confessions ("We had to start over—we were just going on tangents!") to cringing over Kai's tragic one-liners ("I guess the beast doesn't get the beauty"), the duo reflects on how the series spiraled from promise to confusion. They break down the books from Powerless to Fearless, questioning the purpose of the trials, the ever-shifting love triangle, and the disappearance of key characters like Mac. Whether you're a #PowerlessStan or just here for the drama, this episode promises hot takes, unresolved feelings, and the occasional poppy field meltdown.Support the showOur Linktree: https://linktr.ee/thebookfix?utm_source=linktree_admin_sharebecome our Patron ♡ https://www.patreon.com/BookFixbuy us a book ♡ https://www.buymeacoffee.com/thebookfixBusiness Inquiries: thebookfixpodcast@gmail.comfollow us on Tiktok! ♡ https://www.tiktok.com/@thebookfix
The banter queen has done it again! In this week's episode, Kennedy, Reggie, and Mikayla dive headfirst into the pulse-pounding world of Fearless, the latest installment in Lauren Roberts' Powerless series. Just finished Fearless by Lauren Roberts and surprise surprise — I've got things to say. In this episode, I walk you through all my pre-reading theories (some solid, some embarrassingly wrong), and how this book did the most when it came to plot twists.Let's talk about Kitt. Did I hope for the best? Sure. Did I believe in him? Kinda. Did I like him in book one? Absolutely not. So when he pulled that ending… I wasn't shocked. I didn't like it — but it did make sense. His villain arc? Foreshadowed. We just didn't wanna see it.Also, let's not ignore how everyone in this series keeps using the word “pretend” like it's a coping mechanism. Kai and Paedyn pretended their way through a whole romance. But Kitt? He's the true pretend game winner. I also touch on the romance, the things I did like, and why this book somehow manages to make me mad and impressed at the same time.Come yell with me.

We talked to Roberts about how she turned her passion for reading romantasy into a full-fledged literary career writing it. GUEST: Lauren Roberts, author of the Powerless series. I dive into Reckless by Lauren Roberts—a book I nearly quit halfway through. The chase dragged on forever, the resistance plot felt pointless, and I kept asking myself: Why am I still reading this? But then... Kai and Paedyin got chained together, and suddenly I was emotionally wrecked. The romance? Chef's kiss. The angst? Immaculate. Also: Kitt finally got interesting (hello complexity), and I've got theories about that ending that might just matter when Fearless drops this Tuesday. If you're on the fence about continuing the series—or just want to scream about the tension—this episode's for you.
Hey book lovers!
I finally read Powerless by Lauren Roberts, and let's just say… I went through ALL the emotions. The plot? Meh. The side characters? Forgettable. But Kai? He had me in a chokehold. Kitt, on the other hand? He tested my patience like no other. Join me as I rant, rave, and break down what worked, what didn't, and whether Powerless lives up to the hype!
Today we have a very special episode as I sit down and talk to Lauren Roberts who is my stepdaughter and has been working with me in the business for just over a year. We're sharing the behind the scenes of what it's like to have a new aspect into our relationship.Lauren joined me as a media consultant and has learnt everything from scratch as what she did previously was quite different before she went on maternity leave. She always wanted to work in the world of media but after deciding to take a gap year she fell into the world of work starting off at a payday loan company before moving into credit control at an oil company which was much closer to home. When Lauren fell pregnant with her first child, she knew that it was time to have a conversation about joining me within Scott Media. I get Lauren to share with me what she's learned about me in the last year which is mainly about the different hats I wear as business owner, wife, mum, friend and more and how easy it's become to be able to switch between those hats when needed.Lauren shares with us all about her entrepreneurial side growing up and how she had a small business where she was able to print our Scott Media body warmers and cold cups!We discuss the differences in working with the media and Lauren's previous role of chasing down invoices and late payments for a large company and how she's really enjoying meeting and writing about the amazing businesspeople that we get to work with and how networking and building relationships plays a huge part in running a small business. If you want to find out more about Lauren you can connect with her on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/lauren-roberts-b29a34172/If you would like to contact me, you can visit my www.Scottmedia.uk or join my free Facebook group here https://www.facebook.com/groups/prtribe

In this episode of The Book Fix, Yajaira and Cheli review "Powerful" by Lauren Roberts, which is the 1.5 to the popular book, "Powerless". This is a story centered on Adena, a young woman surviving in the slums, and Makoto, a gruff and mysterious figure who shows up in her shop with a proposition for her. Adena's best friend, Paedyn, is called to compete in the deadly Purging, and Adena is struggling to survive without her. The unlikely duo forms a reluctant partnership. Adena's optimistic, sunshine personality contrasts sharply with Makoto's grumpiness, adding tension and intrigue to their interactions.
