A celebration of all things musical and francophone coming out of Penetang and Lafontaine with an emphasis on the role of Neil Lefaive throughout. The proceedings kick off in official fashion with the franco-ontarian anthem (albeit the dubstep version!) and a sampling of tracks from Penetanguishene Secondary School's concert band album circa 1975 before diving headlong into Monsieur Lefaive's production and mentoring work with Brouhaha and Brasse Camarade. We check in with École Secondaire LeCaron's woodshop teacher André Forget, area music teacher Michel Paiement and local artists Antoine Devillers, À Qui De Droit, Georgian Bay and Damien Robitaille. After hearing so much of his production (and solo sax skills in the PSS Concert Band) you'll get to hear a track from the man of the hour himself, Neil Lefaive, with a cut from his ongoing (since 1992!) project Fiddes-Lefaive. The show is rounded out with a summery track from Joëlle Roy, a more traditionally inspired tune from Ariko and, finally, wrapping up with a plea to preserve local beaches from (Damien Robitaille's dad and the man for whom the Lafontaine arena is named)Robert Robitaille.

What?! David Ossman again? No, you're not insane. Welcome to Side 6 as Michael meets up one more time, here at Bob's Berserko Lounge, with Firesign Theater's David Ossman to talk about the life, times, and comedy of Peter Bergman. In this episode, Michael talks again with Firesign Theater's David Ossman at the old Same place to talk about the life, times, and comedy of Peter Bergman.David Ossman is an American writer and performer, best known as a quarter of The Firesign Theatre, whose collective work includes comedy albums, plays, films, and radio shows. He's best known for his role as George Leroy (“Porgie”) Tirebiter in Firesign's LP “Don't Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me The Pliers,” a hero of two mystery novels and hours of broadcasts. His Catherwood the Butler delivers the classic line, “What's all this Brouhaha?” to Nick Danger. Ossman's “solo” album, “How Time Flys” was nominated for a Nebula, and his 50th Anniversary version of “The War of The Worlds," produced by his wife, Judith Walcutt, was nominated for a Grammy. He can be seen (as Cornelius, the ant) in Pixar's “A Bug's Life."During the 1980s, Ossman returned to his “original” profession as a radio host, writer, and teacher, with historic broadcasts for NPR and WGBH, along with equally historic all-star-cast radio events like “Empire of the Air," “We Hold These Truths,” and “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," independently created for Walcutt's Otherworld Media non-profit studio. Returning to Firesign for their 25th Anniversary Tour and subsequent albums and performances, Ossman now edits the group's work, collected by the Library of Congress, for publication.Links mentioned in this episode:David Ossman's previous "Bereaved But Still Me" episode: https://www.buzzsprout.com/123208/8601158David Ossman on Firesign Theater site: http://www.firesigntheatre.com/media/media.php?member=OssmanInteresting Firesign Theater stuff that will change your life: http://firesigntheater.comLinks to “Bereaved But Still Me” Social Media and Podcast Pages:Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/bereaved-but-still-me/id1333229173Spreaker: https://www.spreaker.com/show/heart-to-heart-with-michael Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HugPodcastNetwork YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGPKwIU5M_YOxvtWepFR5Zw Website: https://www.hug-podcastnetwork.com/If you enjoy this program and would like to be a Patron, please check out our Patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/HeartToHeart

If you go to the entry page on Wikipedia for the word 'almah you’ll find this: “despite its importance to the account of the virgin birth of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew, scholars agree that it has nothing to do with virginity.” They sound very sure of themselves, and this tide needs to be turned. Dr. Rico is helping us see how this sort of definition is completely wrong based on the evidence, unhelpful, and obscures the contextual meaning of Isaiah 7:14. This episode is full of everything from musicology to exposition. It's going to be a good one. Make sure to get your own copy of Dr. Rico's book here. Isaiah 7:14 in the KJV reads: “Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” But then the RSV came out in 1952 it translated virgin as young woman. Without a doubt more has been written on the interpretation of this term than on any other verse in the Old Testament. The majority of modern scholars for the last century have asserted that the Hebrew word ‘alma refers merely to a young woman. Are they right, or are the KJV translators and church fathers correct that it means virgin, as the apostle Matthew implied in the first chapter of his gospel? Spence, Spangler, and Buzz caught up with Brew Watch Company founder Jonathan Ferrer to talk about his watches, what inspires his design, and what might be coming next from Brew! We get into how he started the company, a little bit about his background, but then also what trends we are all seeing in 2020, what colors could be the next big thing, and how interesting it would be to see microbrand watches in the same store as larger and fashion brands. Buzz has been hands on with the Retrograph for over a week, and offers his impressions of the watch in a mini review as part of the wrist check. The last part of the interview turns into a RedBar meet and greet as each of us, including Jonathan talk about what got us into collecting, and Jonathan walks us through part of his collection! This is a fun episode you definitely won't want to miss!

In a time of general instability, it's the most chaotic subplot in local politics. Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson claims he was attacked by immigrants who are in the US illegally on May 1, after they refused to get tested for COVID-19. The detainees and their advocates say Hodgson and his deputies were the aggressors. Meanwhile, state Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz was barred from entering the jail the day after the riot; multiple investigations are now underway; and a class-action lawsuit alleging dangerous conditions at the facility is working its way through court. Adam Reilly talks with Chang-Diaz and Sarah Betancourt, who's been covering the story for Commonwealth magazine, about the incident and its aftermath. But first, Peter Kadzis weighs in on a new Suffolk University / WGBH News / Boston Globe poll that shows Massachusetts residents committed to the ongoing fight against the coronavirus, even as economic pain mounts.
