»! Josh Tolle, RN ( @josh.tolle ) is our guest this week on Out of The Closet Sports. Long before he was a Registered Nurse and a Broadway Star living his Britney Spears' musical dream, Josh was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Don't worry folks, he still owns a terrible towel. Luke Prokop is out and proud and under a contract with an NHL team. Sean Avery is still an ally years after he came out publicly in favor of marriage equality. Is the NHL the gayest male pro league in the USA? Who better to discuss it than a Nurse and someone who played a patient on "Royal Pains"? This week on Gametime we use more bleeps(whistles) in one segment than we've used in an entire season. So, if you're ready for an entertaining and informative listening experience, join us on "Out of the Closet Sports." We promise to bring you engaging conversations, personal stories, and a fresh perspective on LGBTQ experiences in the world of sports. Don't miss out!

It's an American Thanksgiving special edition of Neutral Zone Hotel. All of our Canadian hosts are working while SJ and Alex are off. We have a special report on the Mullet Arena Experience(tm) from our friend Nick. But before that, there is plenty of dicussion on Luke Prokop's callup to the AHL, the NHL's Global Series games in Sweden, The Fake World Cup of Hockey, the province of Quebec paying up to $7 million to bring the Los Angeles Kings to Quebec City for some preseason games, and the opening of PWHL training camps. First up, Jess welcomes Benjamin, Trevor, and John to the Neutral Zone Hotel. 2:34 We would like to note that we all saw the news about an NHL player who was arrested for an act of domestic violence. There is a brief mention of this fact and a quick note about why we are not talking abour it on this week's episode. We expect to cover the subject in a thoughtful, in depth, manner sometime in the future. If this announcement is something you do not wish to listen to, please skip from 2:34 to the start of the next segment at 3:53. 3:52 Luke Prokop, the first openly gay player signed to an NHL contract, was called up from the ECHL to the Milwaukee Admirals, making him the first openly gay player to play a game in the AHL. The crew discusses this and talks about Luke's story and why it is important. 21:04 The crew discusses the recent NHL Global Series games in Sweden. Oddly, none of us tuned in to watch the Leafs play the Senators at 8AM. 34:19 The NHL is proposing a Fake World Cup of Hockey in 2025. The tournament would feature games in North America between Team Canada and Team United States, games in Europe between Team Finland and Team Sweden, and a final round somewhere. The crew, unsurprisingly, has thoughts. 40:58 The government of Quebec is going to pay up to $7 million to bring the Los Angeles Kings to Quebec City for a couple of preseason games. The Canadiens said they would have done it for free. Benjamin is not happy and he's going to tell you why. 49:13 PWHL training camps are opening and the crew is excited. Too bad about those jerseys. 59:16 Speaking of the Kings, our friend Nick recently traveled to Arizona to see the Kings play the Coyotes at Mullet Arena. Jess and Benjamin welcome him to the Neutral Zone Hotel's guest lounge to talk about it. Brock McGillis is the first openly gay men's professional hockey player, public speaker and a leading activist in the LGBTQ2S+ space. McGillis studied communications and sports community at Laurentian University and is certified in EDI from Cornell University. His rare combination of education and lived experience have allowed him to become an influential LGBTQ+ advocate, both in the world of sports and beyond. McGillis is an international speaker and brings his unique experiences to corporations, events, sports teams, and schools. His continuous work to shift the conversation around sports and pride has been highlighted in media formats across North America and earned him recognition as one of The Hockey News' 100 most influential people in hockey for 2022. McGillis shared honest and raw experiences that humanize his story. As a result, we believe his inspiring perspective is a crucial piece in our fight against the ‘Old-School' ways of thinking. The key takeaways include: The conformity to cultural norms and the need to challenge the status quo Gatekeepers need to evolve and are key to shifting the cultural norms Fortunately he had support from his family, but not everyone in sport was supportive - what would the impact be for those who don't have support in either? How hockey players can be influencers and positive shift makers in our society The need to shift from superficial ‘Bro' discussions to deeper meaningful connections in the sporting culture Performative acts of inclusion that have little to no impact Luke Prokop's story McGillis' story can have a significant impact on our culture - so join us in the fight against the ‘Old-School' ways of thinking and share this episode with your fellow coaches, players and parents.

The Draft from the Habs and Blackhawks. Another deep dive of this and some of the issues not mentioned. No one in the NHL cares about you. Love what the Coyotes did. Liked and then laughed at what the Canucks did. Seth Jones set a hell of a market for DMen. The Flyers will be fun as hell. We all owe Frank Seravalli an apology.
