Welcome to Showcasing House Music DJ Mixes by dattrax!! Hello Fellow HOUSE FIENDS!!Can't believe it's been over a month since we had a chance to post a new house mix... where does the time go? With work and family there's hardly enough time for house... it's a crime.Jim, my DJ Partner and I are beat junkies and are constantly hunting for new tracks. Not "new" tracks meaning that they have to be current, just new to us. That's the great thing about house, the music is timeless and because it is so powerful when you hear it you, you instantly associate it with a fond memory. Constantly need an influx of 30-40tracks each month to keep us excited.Once in a while we find a house producer that just blows our minds (even though almost every track we buy blows our minds), so then we go raid their entire catalogue of tracks on one of our fav mp3 stores, and find a half dozen or more gems.Last producer I remember that we bought that many at one time was Sta Shiprinski. There are many house beat makers but the tracks that resonate are made with a house groove. You can't put a finger on it because it's different every time, but WOW... does it impact you. Especially after a long day of stressful work- CRANK it up!Anyways, we are so excited to find Nick Curly. Think this mix is almost a Nick Curly tribute because I think 6-8 of his tracks are on here out of the 30 or so. (That reminds me, I want to do a Phonique tribute some time in the future.)Curly's "Piano in the Dark" is the most beautiful house vocal track we've heard in 2012 so far. Every part of it! Hands in the air and close your eyes! The way house makes you feel every time.All the other tracks in this mix are killer too. Too many great house producers to really name. Rest Easy Mr Knuckles, You brought us so much Joy...   I was overseas when I heard the news of Frankie Knuckles passing. Once the initial moment of sadness passed on, I immediately thought that the best way to celebrate his legacy was to plan an old style “House” party with all our close friends, whom Frankie K had entertained and with some of whom he had spend some friendly nights here and in Greece.   Reading the hundreds of comments in the blogosphere only reinforced the feeling that Frankie Knuckles was such a gentleman, such a provider of Joy that only a party would be a fitting tribute.   Since then literally thousands of FK’s tribute sets have been dropped. Some by immense DJs like David Morales, Dimitri and the likes. Obviously I was not going to compete neither with the talent nor the intentions of those guys.   Here is the live set I played on Saturday the 3rd of May. Direct from the mixer. It did not quite work as I had planned. The set may have come a little bit too early in the night when everyone was readier to schmooze, mingle and drink than dance.. which really did not matter as it was all about celebrations.   My selection was based solely on “happy tunes”, trying to showcase as much of a current Frankie as I could and not repeat the amazing but very obvious tribute sets, which one can find all over the net.   I went to the trouble of buying from Japan the “ A New Reality” CD, which I had lost in one of our many previous moves just to get the introductory sample with Frankie’s voice and be able to drop the two last tracks, which may be my favourite Knuckles.   Thereafter, we went into a less soulful and more Funky/Trance mood, with a set, which ending extract I will upload later on this week, got a few people going…   Playlist: 2004 Intro Frankie Knuckles from a New Reality " What's Going On Frankie?". 1995 Rock With You. It all started in 2005, a few months after the restaurant Museum Cafe opened its doors in Greenbelt 4, Manila, and right after the infamous pool parties at the Mandarin Oriental's Paseo Uno LOUNGE had taken a rest for the rainy season after entertaining the city's sophisticated music heads under the stars for a good year.   The spot was perfect, with an outdoor bar area, high ceilings, and a wonderful breeze that blowed through the passageway between M Cafe and the Ayala Museum that ached to have people gather in it. I (Elian) met Mark Jentes two years earlier playing deep house music with friends Wendell Garcia and Kevin Ruiz at Bellissima--back when the sound was at best "underground" in Manila. We then collaborated to launch the Paseo Uno success that left its mark on the city, and believed it was a perfect time in July 2005 to team up with Mark's childhood friend Martin Wisniewski to transition M Cafe from a restaurant to a bar. It didn't take much thought to come up with the perfect name and logo for the Friday night party that would start it all: MyHOUSE. With the Y inverted over the M sitting on top of the word HOUSE. From the very first night, you could tell this was going to be something special. The group that showed up that first night would become religious regulars, a base that grew exponentially by the week that delighted in 6-hour music sets and built friendships that would last until today.  It was right about that time that I started seeing Ines Cabarrus, and we couldn't wait to meet up at M on Friday nights. (We all know how that ended up!) It's hard to determine which was better: Mark Cali-Jentes's west-coast DJ-ing skills or his ability to put out the most captivating, iconic, and even controversial invites every week.  I was still employed as an executive at Mexican cement giant CEMEX and would send invites using my company's email account. I looked forward to the weekend break from the corporate routine more than anything else in the world and spent most of my free time planning the set for next week's installment of the magical night.  Buzz about the party even reached New York City's top website on the house music scene UndagroudArchives.com which would feature MyHOUSE it in its weekly postings and email blasts on house music events in NYC and around the world, right along with Deep Space, Roots, and Shelter. Although I had to go to Dubai for work for about 4 months, the party kept on growing and I was still somehow able to invite people from abroad, while Mark and Martin held it down back in Manila every week with guest DJs including Benjo Marquez, Kevin Ruiz, Wendell Garcia, Scrambled Edge, Martin Aquino, Steven Love, Jermaine Brown, Steve Mills, Kristian Hernandez, Bryan Boogie, Brian Salazar, Alex Callejo, and DJ ALA.  You can say that Ines was also representing me at MyHOUSE during my absence, as our long distance relationship grew stronger.                     As 2006 came to an end, so did the weekly party as each of the organizers got busy with their lives.  And it wasn't until last month that we came back together to celebrate a reunion (a seven-year itch if you will) at Martin's new bar RocketRoom in the Fort's High Street.  It was a drizzly night, but everyone seemed eager to get the music started. Although it was cloudy, the stars seemed definitely aligned.  Cali-Jentes opened with a nice mix of conscious hip-hop and west-coast house favorites and, at right around midnight, I got on and played this set.  The smiles on everyone's faces made it unanimously obvious: MyHOUSE is back!!! Hello Fellow HOUSE FIENDS!! Can't believe it's been over a month since we had a chance to post a new house mix... where does the time go? With work and family there's hardly enough time for house... it's a crime. Jim, my DJ Partner and I are beat junkies and are constantly hunting for new tracks. Not "new" tracks meaning that they have to be current, just new to us. That's the great thing about house, the music is timeless and because it is so powerful when you hear it you, you instantly associate it with a fond memory. Constantly need an influx of 30-40tracks each month to keep us excited. Once in a while we find a house producer that just blows our minds (even though almost every track we buy blows our minds), so then we go raid their entire catalogue of tracks on one of our fav mp3 stores, and find a half dozen or more gems. Last producer I remember that we bought that many at one time was Sta Shiprinski. There are many house beat makers but the tracks that resonate are made with a house groove. You can't put a finger on it because it's different every time, but WOW... does it impact you. Especially after a long day of stressful work- CRANK it up! Anyways, we are so excited to find Nick Curly. Think this mix is almost a Nick Curly tribute because I think 6-8 of his tracks are on here out of the 30 or so. (That reminds me, I want to do a Phonique tribute some time in the future.) Curly's "Piano in the Dark" is the most beautiful house vocal track we've heard in 2012 so far. Every part of it! Hands in the air and close your eyes! The way house makes you feel every time. All the other tracks in this mix are killer too. Too many great house producers to really name. This is the BEST time for house music because there is soooooo much of it out there. Special Thanks to VINCE VEGA of INPUT RECORDINGS & WBI MUSIC for giving many fans on Facebook his beautiful bootleg remix of GOTYE, "Somebody That I Used To Know". Vince's bootleg of SADE's "HAUNT ME" is still one of my favourite vinyl records.
