This week on Really Good Exposure we have the phenomenal Holly Adomah! Holly is an OFFIE award winning freelance arts marketer, and was the first and last marketing manager at The Bunker theatre (RIP!). Holly is also the founder of Holly's Angels; a team of volunteers who have turned theatre spaces into food distribution hubs since December 2020 to help support local artists and community members who are experiencing hardships. Holly and Meg get into why access to theatre and other arts spaces need to be a right for everyone, not just a luxury the privileged few. We discuss the way theatre has the power to impact social change and why its so important that we aren't just screaming into an echo chamber with audiences. We get into performative activism in the arts, arts nepotism, and how everyone deserves the same basic worker rights/protections, regardless of how much they enjoy their job. Holly talks about how to get the work life balance right as a freelancer (spoiler: its difficult!), the problem with hustle culture and the #TeamNoDaysOff mentality and how she makes working in the arts financially viable despite the unpredictable nature of the industry. We talk about the disappointing backlash theatres faced with Black Out Nights and why these performances are so important, what happened when someone came into a theatre Holly worked at wearing an 'All Lives Matter T-shirt' and why there's still so much work to do to make theatre the inclusive space that it should be. Full disclosure: Holly and Meg both have ADHD and hadn't seen each other in a while when this was recorded, so expect wild tangents, excited interjections, and losing track of time! Holly is on twitter here: https://x.com/adomahholly?lang=en And you can find out more about her work here: https://hollyadomahmarketing.carrd.co Learn more about Holly's Angels here: https://brixtonhouse.co.uk/shows/hollys-angels-festive-market As always, you can find me here: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/Megartron BlueSky: https://bsky.app/megartron.bsky.social Twitter: https://x.com/meg_prescott YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@MegPrescott/videos Spicy page: @Megartron A lot of the topics that we talk about on really good exposure relate to women's rights, worker rights, and the sorry state that both of those are in right now. We believe that women have the right to choose what they do with their bodies and how they make their money, and we also believe that how we choose to use our bodies should never, ever alleviate perpetrators of violence from accountability. We believe that all workers deserve basic human rights and protections, and we believe that predators are always responsible for violence, not victims. For many people, Thomas Coombes will be best known for playing Officer Daniel in the hit Netflix series: Baby Reindeer but Thomas Coombes has had a truly remarkable career prior to the show. During his career, he has tacked Shakespeare at the Globe, playing Gratiano/Prince of Arragon in The Merchant of Venice and has also played Oswald in King Lear at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre. On screen Thomas has also taken on roles in Eastenders as well as Star Wars spin-off The Acolyte. Now, he is returning to the stage for the first time since lockdown began in the West End transfer of the Death of England plays, playing Michael, a role that was originated by Rafe Spall at the National Theatre. This also marks the first time he's performed in a one-person show and he talks to us about the challenges of playing in the round in Clint Dyer and Roy Williams' fast-paced thriller on Modern Britain. In a remarkable new interview, Thomas Coombes reflects over the last few years which has seen him take on roles in Baby Reindeer, Slow Horses and The Acolyte. Now as he continues his run as Michael, he sits down with us to talk about the importance of representation of working class people and their stories. Early on in his career, he won an Offie for his performance as Paul in 'Barbarians', a revival of Barry Keefe's play about youth unemployment and the consequences of that. As Michael now, Thomas Coombes is once again exploring how society influences a man's beliefs and how one's ideology can manifest itself into violence and prejudice. The plays very much reinforce some of the harsher realities of Modern Britain and the divisions that exist, but Thomas also tells us about the humour the show carries and how he hopes that audiences will be able to have a laugh as well as a think about the state of the nation today. Death of England: Michael is currently running at @SohoPlace and will run in rep with Death of England: Delroy and Death of England: Closing Time this Summer.

This is the first episode of our new show SOS ID. The focus of this show is men's mental health with the chief goal being to identify the critical issues in men's lives before an emergency occurs. In this show we will have plenty of guests, but some episodes with just Don and Offie as well (called family episodes, like this one). The goal of this show, and the family episodes in particular, is to air out the common issues that are so infrequently discussed by men but can be core issues for many men. We hope that you enjoy and that this show finds those who need it. Early and uncut access to all episodes of SOS ID is available through our patreon; patreon.com/saltofthestreets On this family episode Don and Offie catch up on their Christmas's and quickly dive deep; the complexities of extended large family vacations, the loss of Colins father and it's connections to Don's life, Don's separation from his local family as well as it's causes and side-effects. Our theme song is written, produced and recorded by Upper Left. All addition music is produced by PNW Nils. Funding constraints, rising interest rates and downward pressure on asset pricing have been key property market themes in 2023. But what does the future hold? Will 2024 be a turning point – particularly for the office sector? Will debt funding be more readily available? And will investors increasingly look at new capital structures to drive their property investment strategies? We unpack this and more in our latest Talking Property episode featuring CBRE's Australian head of Offie and Capital Markets Research Tom Broderick, the Pacific head of CBRE's Debt & Structured Finance team Andrew McCasker and CBRE's Pacific head of Investment Banking Paul Ryan. If you have any questions regarding this episode or property topics that you'd like CBRE to address in future episodes, please email us at: talkingproperty@cbre.com. You can also find out more about CBRE's recent Lenders Sentiment Survey here and access our latest Australian Office Occupancy research here.
