Today's guest is a high energy, much loved pal of mine, Adriana Tantau or as everyone more commonly knows her, Fudge. Little did I know (like most people I'm sure) that Fudge has been on a mental health roller coast of the recent years.  Highs, lows, explosive reactions, unappealing moods, coping mechanisms and most frighteningly... suicidal thoughts.  Fortunately she was sent to an acupuncturist who somewhat randomly, yet accurately pointed her in the direction of exploring PMDD as a possible culprit for her turmoil.   What's that you ask?  So did I... So did Fudge. PMDD stands for Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder and despite most of us being unaware of it's existence it seems the condition is somewhat common in Australia with 10,000 cases per year… Let's hear Fudge fill us in on the rest! Weight Loss for Foodies podcast | Ditch the Diet and Lose Weight with Shari Broder | Life Coach School certified

Are you someone  who is like the juggler trying to keep too many balls in the air? Is one of the balls that you keep dropping your goal to change your eating habits and lose weight? How often do you get to that point where you think, “ I don't care! I want to eat! It's okay just this one time."   Or you think that “what the F” thought  as you start chowing down snacks mindlessly. You've got too much on your plate. Your mind is so cluttered with your “to do” list that you can't remember to ask yourself whether you're hungry before you mindlessly stuff food down.  You become exhausted, and don't have the energy to make good choices about eating.  I bet you get that “I don't care, I'm going to eat this anyway” thought more often later in the day, right?  Like late afternoons, or when you get home from work, or after dinner.  That's when you have the most trouble saying no to your urges to eat when you aren't hungry. Stay tuned and I'll tell you how this is undermining your efforts and how to fix that.

The worst part about this is there's enough stigma on mental health in the first place. When it comes to seeing a doctor, therapist, or maybe even calling the suicide hotline, those with social anxiety are plagued the most and usually can't ask for help.Let's make one thing clear off the bat. Maybe You're Not Confused, You're Just Avoiding

Legendary Leaders: Making Legendary Leaders

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 24, 2020 9:13

Your challenge today is to realize that you may not be confused about an action you need to take, maybe you are trying to avoid the work altogether. I recently got caught up on a lot of the Donald Miller videos, his training videos he shares as part of StoryBrand. I have to tell you, in case you don't already know, I just totally dig this guy. He's on point when it comes to some of the most basic ideas that make the lightbulbs off in my head. He was discussing the idea of avoidance defined in our minds by saying, “I'm confused.” You know, I have heard a lot of people say, “But I'm confused,” in many meetings in my lifetime. I know someone in my most recent work environment where this individual will say, “Hold on, I'm confused.” And she says it about 5 times per conversation. To the point that you say to yourself, "You are so confused how do you still have a job?" It drives me nuts. But in reality, she is saying “I don't know what to do so tell me.” No thanks. At the end of the day, we all know we don't take action if we aren't sure which action to take. And because we know this, we use this as a crutch to say, “Oh, I don't understand and because I don't understand and I have told everyone I don't understand, then I don't have to do anything.” Here's the deal. That may work in the corporate world, but not in the entrepreneurial world. Why? Because you still have to get that action done! You don't have a choice. So that's why we are talking about this one today. I see bad habits coming out of the corporate world, habits amazing women have picked up. And then they go into their own businesses and they quickly start to see the bad habits they created come to life. So here's the deal. If you are confused, find the clarity. It doesn't matter where you are, corporate world, conversation with your spouse, or your business. Seek clarity so you can take action in all of those scenarios. Practice the good habit of seeking clarity. Don't use confusion as a crutch. You will not have an execution pillar if you do not overcome this one. Be Legendary!

Maybe you're not meant to fit in   Will anyone ever truly understand us? 1. No, I guess not.·     We are all complex beings with different thought processes. Maybe at some point, no one will ever truly understands how we all could react and think about things.  2. We have to process the internal battles inside of us ·     Not to worry, because even if no one will ever truly understand us, there would be people who would truly see and hear us. They would make you feel seen and heard and they'll help you go through the processes in your head together.   Will we ever fit in?   1. No but you can belong·     Fitting in isn't bad or anything but maybe we're not meant to be at all boxed and categorized in one box.·     You can be as crazy, creative, and assertive as you can and belong with people who truly accept you for who you are. (AS LONG AS YOU DON'T INTENTIONALLY HARM ANYONE)   2. Stand out and bring everyone along with you ·     We all have different characteristics that make us who we are. A trademark that's the word for that. ·     Bringing everyone with you means you let the people around you shine the way they do. Let them embrace themselves and what makes them who they are without judgment. ·     It may be hard to not have first impressions of people but it never lasts, so keep an open mind and let people around you stand out in their own respective ways like you!   We don't have to fit in the box  ·     We've all been so used to behave and follow the world like it's the only thing we're meant to be, it's not we're all meant for greatness.   ·     You may sometimes feel like a lost child, just know that sometimes you really have to find out about things on your own first. One day though you'll find people who'd share this journey with you and be present in some of the internal struggles you'll face.   REMEMBER! ·     As Dr. Cristina Yang said to Meredith, “do not let what he wants eclipse what you need. He is very dreamy but he is not the sun you are” ·     Let's not let the perceptions and wants of this world devour us and what we stand for. We are the sun, each and every one of us carries a light of hope. Let it shine.

This one is for you people who love fixing others and vomiting out unsolicited advice.   In case you were wondering, I am a fellow people-fixer and unsolicited advice vomiter-outer.   I wish I could come up with something better than 'vomiter-outer' because it doesn't make much sense, but I couldn't. So that will have to do. I'm sure you get the idea. This is what happens when an over-thinker attempts to be funny or witty.   Changing gears...does the following scenario sound familiar?...   You find yourself giving the same nagging advice to your partner (or maybe a friend, family member, or colleague) repeatedly. You see what they could be doing better. If only they would just listen to you, they could fix their problem. It would be as easy as that.   You keep giving this advice because you know it would work. You're surprised that it's not as clear to them as it is to you. You find yourself volunteering this advice constantly, maybe with an occasional preach or rant telling this person what they should do. Many iterations of these outward attempts to help or fix this person builds up what feels like heat in the gut. You judge. You're frustrated. You're angry. Why don't they just listen to you?   Time goes by. You go through something in your own life. You're hit by some sort of unpredictability or vulnerability. And BAM. You realize you haven't been following that same advice you've been giving this person...at all. You're a phony. You're a fraud. You're exposed. But you had no clue! You really thought you could see what was best for this other person. You were trying to help. You became angry that they couldn't/wouldn't just listen to you, apply what you were saying, and fix it.   Hint: the problem was probably never the other person. So what was it? What are you angry at?   When you preach or give unsolicited advice to others, especially if it's volunteered, constant, and generates judgment and anger, this action can be used as an amazing queue to listen to the advice you're giving out...and take it/apply it in your own life.   Because that's what you really want to happen. That's why you're frustrated. It's not the other person. You can't figure out how to take your own advice. You simply see the same thing manifesting in front of you in the other person (they don't know how to apply the advice you're giving), so you resist it because you don't know how to apply it either, and that hurts to face.   This lesson comes up for me often, and it slapped me in the face again recently. I talk about it through a story in this quick episode.   When you preach or volunteer 'fix-it' advice (as I call it), you are the one that usually need to hear it most. Us humans tend to project our own messes out onto others. This can be tricky or easily missed if you're not paying close attention. If you find yourself preaching or trying to fix another person, use that as a queue to check-in with yourself instead. Today we are talking about how ingrained the impulse can be to always automatically look at “What is it about me? What am I doing wrong? What do I need to heal? What’s wrong with me that I am... being judgy, feeling angry, feeling overwhelmed and exhausted?” Are these feelings a signal that there is yet more material we need to heal so that we can always be “better” at tolerating things? Or are there perhaps things that we are accurately perceiving are out of alignment for us, or are taxing or overburdening us? In this episode we talk about: - How we can begin to notice if we are always scanning ourselves internally with the intent of figuring out “What’s wrong with me?” - How we can then learn to turn our attention to our outer world and see honestly what we the things are that are just genuinely not a good fit for us. - What conflict avoidance has to do with the pattern of always making it about how we need to heal ourselves. - How we may be imagining that our path will lead us to being the kind of people who become reaction and/or preference-free. - Both the genius and the pitfalls of being adaptable.

If you’re going to have a heart to give to people and you don’t take care of yourself, it’s selfish. You can’t use your own reservoir (energy) on everyone else, that’s your operating system – it’s like taking gas out of your own car and giving it to everyone else and then you have a car that can’t move. You need to refrain on how selfish it is to call yourself lazy.

Guilt is a state of guilt or responsibility. Guilt is a word that sounds complex, but it is a simple concept: guilt. You have the guilt if you are responsible for something, usually something bad. If you left the door open and your house was stolen, you have some guilt (not as much as the thief, however). We are only guilty of the following selection of phrases, quotes and aphorisms about guilt. Propose to enjoyeverything you have, knowing that you are worthy of all the good things in life . Get rid of false faults . You are only responsible for your decisions , not those of others. None of us are perfect and clearly our minds and memories aren't, either. Take a moment to think about any past grudges or situations and open your mind up - your memory may not be exactly right (I was sure mine was), or you may not see all sides of the story. Either way, it feels really good to find peace with these old wounds and move on.

Unearth your divine talents & own them.So often, we are the only ones who can't see our own greatness. It's like everyone else can see it, but we can't see it in ourselves. (It's like that friend who is hilarious but just doesn't believe it when you tell him).In this episode, you'll discover how to find your distinct gifts and the unique expression of your soul. And, more importantly, how to fully own your gifts. This my friend, is where the real inner work transpires because this is when you expand and choose to show up as the person you truly are.Plus, I also explain the importance of shedding who you are NOT and letting go of that baggage to "fit in." This is such a part of the process as we strip away the "shoulds," the desire to be well-rounded, and as we stop trying to be so good at everything that we block our own brilliance. (You'll hear about my own example of this in terms of trying to be great at Excel so I could put it on my resume versus just owning the fact that I'm a natural at public speaking).Owning my zone of genius and sharing my gifts publicly (and for a living) has taken me years to master. So, I'm guiding you closer to your own truth and enabling you to embody your divine gifts much faster than I did.So, tune in and grab your notebook. This episode is for you my friend.  In this episode, you'll learn: - Why being well-rounded is overrated. (+ How if you try to be a master of everything, you become a master of none).- How to fully embrace your gifts and see your own zone of genius.- Why everyone else might see your divine genius, but not you. (+ Why we sometimes think that when things come easy and natural to us, it's not a gift or a skill because we haven't "earned" it or "proved it" to anyone).- How to own who you really are. (+ How to start showing up as your real self, versus how you think you should appear). - About the questions, you should ask yourself in order to own your genius. - Why you need to shed the metaphorical snakeskin and release who you are NOT in order to become who you really are. (+ And this is the most freeing part, so woohoo!)  Resources mentioned: - The Inner Circle.
