My apologies for not being in touch for awhile. Since the last newsletter, we've welcomed our third grandchild, a boy named Gideon. He was a delight to hold and be with as well as his siblings over Easter. Deb had a health scare but I am happy to say that after many tests and a biopsy, that it was not cancer and she is doing well. It was a tough couple of weeks as we navigated that situation and we are both relieved with the current outcome. Luke 8:22-56 - Speaker: Lukus Counterman - The end of Luke chapter 8 includes four miracle-stories. As we study the text, we learn how Jesus calms a storm, cleanses a demoniac, heals a woman, and raises a girl from the dead. But what are we supposed to learn from these encounters? Well, Jesus teaches his followers that tribulations will come, but he is able to overcome them all. He wants his disciples to trust him when troubles come, and watch how he can turn evil into good. May the Lord teach us those lessons as we study his word together.

 Many of us are blessed to have grown up in places where there is an active ministry and the gospel can be preached openly. He was able to see Him heal demon-possessed people with Hindu backgrounds.God shows miracles to people who have faith and those who do not give up in prayer.Brandon [31:53]: “The power of prayer is so key to everything that we do in our ministry.”[33:25] How God Sustains Their MarriageThey love doing things together. Brandon and Jess share the passion to go to communities that have not heard the gospel before.God continues to sustain their marriage even when Brandon and Jess are apart. They focus on the things that matter and believe that putting themselves at risk for the sake of Jesus is worth it.Brandon [35:32]: “We talk so much about the Second Coming when so much of the world hasn't heard about His first.”Some of the most joyful people you'll ever meet are those who've given up so much to follow Jesus.[41:42] Focusing on the UnreachedAccording to Activate Global's website, nearly 3.15 billion people or around 7000 people groups still live without access to the gospel.There's a great lack of focus among missionaries. About 97% of them, and over 99% of financial support, go to places that already have access to God's word.Revelation 5:9: God gives the hope and promise that there will be people from every tribe, every tongue, and every nation worshipping Him in heaven.[47:04] What Brandon's Ministry Looks Like in the Next YearsActivate Global has helped start 315 small businesses across 13 different countries. He hopes to see 1000 businesses scattered among 500 unique people groups.Brandon is excited to see God open doors in new places where local missionaries have access to sustainable support solutions.He is also looking forward to God raising national leaders in the 13 countries where they are active.The word of God will no longer be foreign to the natives once local missionaries share the gospel in their communities.[50:02] Why Choose to Minister in More Difficult Nations?You cannot turn away from what God calls you to do and where God calls you to go.Jesus is the only one who can truly make a difference in a person's life and a community's destiny. If no one brings Jesus to less fortunate places, then they will not be given a chance at all.Brandon [57:08]: “All of us have the potential to be a part of what God is doing, and maybe that doesn't lead you into another part of the world. In this reading, Jesus explains that we, as the Son of God, made an image of a body for ourselves that is used to fence us off from the awareness of heaven. It is also a home of fear that has been distorted in our minds to be a place of safety. In this episode of Insights on A Course in Miracles, I share an insight I received from the Holy Spirit about our awakening process. As students of A Course in Miracles, our curiosity has us peeking over the fence line to see what is on the other side. Of course, it's the Holy Spirit who is gently calling us to come home. I personally found this to be pleasant and joyful reading because Jesus explains very clearly in just a few paragraphs exactly what our reality is with God, the Holy Spirit and one another. The supporting Lessons are also exciting because they're teaching us how to awaken the dormant psychic abilities we all have, so that we can learn how to see and hear the Christ within us. In this episode of Insights on A Course in Miracles, we take a look at the illusion of the world and the belief in the illusion of "sin". These topics were inspired from the lessons we worked on over the past two weeks (Lessons 241 through 254) and their respective readings, What Is the World? and What is Sin? Once again, Jesus reminds us that the world and everything we experience within it is an illusion. I found it helpful to relate it to a novel that an author might write. In many novels, whole new worlds, lands, beings and sets of mythical laws are created from the imagination of an author. The readers then lose themselves in the stories for their own entertainment. Jesus explains that we did something similar as the Son or Daughter of God. We drafted an illusion of a physical world that blocks out the awareness of God, then allowed ourselves to become lost within the journey almost indefinitely. Then, to add more drama to the story, our ego minds drafted painful beliefs about ourselves and others such as evilness, sinfulness, and guilt. What a mess! Greetings Course Students, In this episode of Insights on A Course in Miracles is a reminder that we are learning how to let the Light of God do the forgiving work for us. In my experience, this is most easily accomplished through our practice of meditation. When we go within to consult with the Holy Spirit, he will remind us to forget about "trying" to forgive but instead to practice reaching the Light and letting It "do" the forgiving for us. This is a big difference when compared to the way that we were taught about the practice of forgiveness by many religious traditions. The practice is not easy at first because we are so used to doing things for ourselves. So we practice during our meditations in "letting go" and "trusting God" to do it for us. Cheers Course Students, This past week we worked on Lessons 234 through 240 in the Workbook for Students. One of the things that many students struggle with when going through the Lessons for the first time is the struggle to give up the thinking mind. Prior to working with A Course in Miracles, the ego mind became used to trying to figure things out with ourselves and our lives through analysis and contemplation. A key thing to realize is that this is only a delaying maneuver and will only waste time. Try to recognize when you are doing this and then stop and give yourself permission to set it aside. The Lessons we are working with now are teaching us how to go within and simply commune with God. Remember to give up your thoughts and to practice having no thoughts during your meditations, and then just wait for the Holy Spirit to bring forth waves of peace within you. Over the past two weeks we worked through Lessons 199 through 212 in the Workbook for Students. In this episode of Insights on A Course in Miracles I focus on the review lesson 212 which takes us back to a review of Lesson 192: I have a function God would have me fill. In this lesson, Jesus reminds us of the importance of forgiveness. I also share an experience I had with the Holy Spirit this morning where He helped me to heal an Inner Child that had been stuck in pain for many years. This past week we worked on Lessons 192 through 198 in the Workbook for Students. However, there was one Lesson that stood out and it was 196: It can be but myself I crucify. Within this lesson Jesus addresses a huge problem we all struggle with and that is the habit of having critical thoughts about other people. He explains that this habit keeps us trapped within the belief in separation and ultimately delays our awakening from the dream. Hello Course Students, One of the biggest problems we all struggle with throughout our lives are feelings of guilt and shame. They are a part of the nightmare we seem to be experiencing during our belief in our abandonment and separation from God. Over the past week we worked with Lessons 185 through 191 in the Workbook for Students. Lesson 190: I choose the joy of God instead of pain, really helps us to look at the problem of guilt and recognize how we've been in the habit of choosing pain in this form. Fortunately, as in all the Lessons, Jesus also provides us with the solution to giving up the weapon of guilt. We can often feel that we exist in a silo, that our lives lack impact, that what we do on a daily basis is unimportant. We convince ourselves that miracles and unforeseen events happen to others, not us. Not true! With the power of God, St. Paul healed a man who was crippled at birth. Which reminds us that miracles take place in God's time, not ours. With faith in the Lord, it is never too late for us and those for whom we pray to be healed, changed and transformed. In addition, remember that, like St. Paul, the Lord will use you and your compassion, kindness and generosity to work miracles in the lives of others, so they can walk in the newness of life of our Risen Lord, the new life he offers us each day.

Greetings Course Students, Uniting with God every day is the skill we have been learning and honing with our practice of the Lessons this past week. In their own special way, Lessons 171 through 177 have had us specifically working toward the space of having our own personal experience of meeting the Divine. This is a skill that Jesus learned while he walked the Earth ages ago and now, he is teaching us the same skill - how exciting is that! Greetings Everyone, All of this week's Lessons had us reviewing ideas that focused on leading us down the path to joy. They included forgiveness, remembering the truth, we were originally created happy, and our Teacher is here to help us with the whole journey. If you've been experiencing a miserable life, despair, a sense of hopelessness, and been feeling alone with your problems, then make sure you study and practice Lesson 121 frequently and well. It is a classic and speaks well to the journey of despair many go through and, more importantly, the way out. If you're one of these people, dedicate yourself to working with your Internal Teacher, the Holy Spirit, as much as possible. The more you do, the quicker you will find a happier life for yourself.
