I remember the very slow realization as I started to embody my binges that food was never going to give me what I was looking for. It felt crushing to face. I'd been utilizing food as a way to try to help myself feel better, safer, more grounded and I felt so much grief that this strategy was never going to work.Over the years in private practice, I noticed almost every single person I worked with experience this moment of deep grief. I now have a term for this called Food Grief. Food recovery is a process of saying goodbye to strategies that worked as a child and no longer work now as an adult.Grieving any food coping mechanism is feeling the body unlearning an old survival pattern. Food Grief is your body reorienting to the present and that you no longer need to protect yourself like you did in the past.In this week's episode, I chat with Syanna Wand, Certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and founder of Interpersonal Embodied Healing about: Understanding grief in healingThe somatic concept of armoringNavigating grief and reliefThe importance of resourcing yourselfBuilding capacity to be with your emotionsGenerational griefEmbracing grief and creating a relationship with itYou can also read the transcript to this week's episode here: https://www.stephaniemara.com/blog/grief-is-crucial-for-trauma-recoveryReminder that my Somatic Eating® Intensive is on sale for 30% off until Tuesday, December 2nd. In this episode of Clover, I'm rethinking one of the biggest myths about career growth — the idea that success is about climbing a ladder. For many of us, especially women, that ladder was never built for the way our careers actually unfold. So let's talk about a better metaphor: the jungle gym. It's flexible, unpredictable, and a whole lot more real.I share lessons from my own path — from film school to marketing, from startups to enterprise leadership — and how every pivot, pause, and sideways move became part of the story I was meant to build. We'll dig into:Why lateral moves can be the smartest playHow to recognize what season you're in — growth, rest, or healingThe importance of building your network before you need itHow to own and narrate your unique career storyLetting go of timelines that tell you where you “should” be by nowIf your path doesn't look like a straight line, good. That means you're learning, adapting, and leading in your own way — and that's where the good stuff happens. What's one non-linear move you've made that taught you something you couldn't have learned any other way? Write it down, share it, or simply own it — that's your jungle gym résumé, and it's powerful. If this episode resonates, share it with another woman who needs the reminder: she's not behind — she's building her own structure.

What if the solution to chronic wound healing has been floating in our oceans for 600 million years?Jellyfish collagen isn't just different from the cow and pig-derived materials used in medicine today. It's actually better at healing human tissue.I sit down with Dr Andrew Mearns-Spragg, Founder and Chief Scientific Officer at Jellagen, who's proving this remarkable claim with hard data. His research shows jellyfish collagen outperforms traditional materials in vocal fold repair, triggers faster transitions from inflammation to healing, and creates longer-lasting tissue structure. The secret lies in what Andrew calls "collagen type zero," an evolutionarily ancient form that our bodies recognise differently, prompting superior healing responses without the prolonged inflammatory reactions seen with mammalian sources.Beyond the compelling science, Andrew reveals how he built the world's first ISO-certified medical device manufacturing plant for jellyfish collagen from scratch. We explore the practical realities of sustainable harvesting (achieving near-zero bycatch), navigating FDA regulations for an entirely novel biomaterial, and convincing investors to back marine biotechnology. This venture extends beyond the laboratory. By harvesting jellyfish blooms caused by overfishing, Jellagen addresses an ecological problem while creating advanced wound care solutions and providing alternative income for local fishing communities struggling with depleted fish stocks."The jellyfish collagen transition to healing was much quicker and longer lasting." - Dr Andrew Mearns-SpraggYou'll Hear AboutWhy jellyfish collagen outperforms mammalian collagen in tissue healingThe challenges of building ISO-certified jellyfish manufacturingHow ancient collagen triggers better immune responsesSustainable harvesting methods with near-zero bycatchTranslating marine biology research into medical devicesThe cost of chronic wound management in healthcareNavigating the FDA regulatory pathway for novel biomaterialsSupporting local fishing communities through jellyfish harvestingFrom angel investment to medical device commercializationPlatform opportunities beyond wound healing applicationsConnect with Dr Andrew Mearns-SpraggLinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/andrew-m-006bb41/ Website - https://jellagen.co.uk/ Connect with me:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/markdavison100/ If you need any lab equipment:Grant Instruments: https://www.grantinstruments.com/ Grant Instruments on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/grant-instruments-cambridge-ltd/

This is often labelled the “avoidant discard” — but while that term might feel validating in the moment, it can also keep you stuck in a disempowering story. In this episode, we'll talk about how to process a sudden ending in a way that honours your pain without leaving you tethered to it. We'll explore:Why shock and lack of closure can intensify heartbreakThe difference between feeling discarded and being discardedHow villain/victim narratives can hold you back from real healingThe impact of online echo chambers on your recoveryPractical steps to reclaim your agency and move forwardThis isn't about minimising what you've been through. What if the very reason you feel stuck, silenced, or afraid to take up space… didn't start with you? What if the resistance in your body, the self-doubt in your voice, and the fear of being seen are actually ancient echoes of a system built to keep women small? In this first half of a powerful two-part series, I'm joined by my business coach and spiritual mentor Katy Stuart for a conversation that will live in your bones. We explore the forgotten history of the sacred divine feminine—and the systemic erasure that has shaped the way women live, lead, mother, and show up in the world today. From priestess temples and womb-shaped stone altars to the violent silencing of women through witch hunts and religious colonization, we trace the long lineage of how women's power was intentionally suppressed… and how those wounds are still alive in our nervous systems, families, and leadership.Drawing from the deep well of Katy's course HER, we illuminate the hidden narratives most of us never learned: the rise of the patriarchal church, the rewriting of spiritual history, the distortion of feminine wisdom, and the roots of the witch wound—both literal and energetic. This isn't just a historical conversation; it's an unflinching look at how centuries of systemic spiritual disempowerment still show up in modern-day business, motherhood, and personal identity.Whether you're spiritual or skeptical, religious or deconstructing, new to this conversation or knee-deep in the remembering, this episode will meet you where you are. It's for the woman who has always felt like there was more. The one who's starting to question what she was taught. The one who's waking up and realizing: I was never broken—I was just disconnected from the truth of who I am.Together, we name the invisible forces that have shaped us for generations—and we begin to unravel the lies. Because when you understand where the fear of being “too much” or “not enough” really comes from, you finally have the power to choose a different path. This episode is the remembering. Part two is the becoming. In this episode, we explore:The systemic erasure of the divine feminine and how it impacts modern women's voices, visibility, and self-worthThe spiritual lineage of the priestesses, shamans, druids, and oracles—and how their power was intentionally suppressedThe historical rise of patriarchal religion, the dismantling of goddess-centered cultures, and the suppression of feminine powerThe impact of Christian colonization, witch hunts, and the demonization of feminine spiritualityWhy women's natural connection to the earth, moon cycles, intuition, and womb wisdom was once revered—and how reclaiming it is an act of healingThe psychological and somatic effects of this erasure—including internalized shame, people-pleasing, self-silencing, and fear of spiritual explorationThe difference between matriarchal societies and modern feminism—and how ancient feminine leadership was rooted in reciprocity, reverence, and embodimentBe sure to hit subscribe so you never miss the latest episode!Connect with Katy:Instagram → @thekatystuartWebsite → katystuart.comJoin the Oracle Mastermind → katystuart.com/the-oracleStep into The Experience → katystuart.com/the-experienceConnect with Emily:Website: www.EmilyReuschel.comInstagram:
