She breaks down the horrifying Rock Hill murder involving an illegal immigrant, calls out GOP inaction, and revisits Trump's unheeded push to empower states. Then, she exposes the unraveling electric vehicle market as major automakers backpedal and hybrids surge in popularity. Finally, Tara questions the official narrative around Joe Biden's surprise stage 4 prostate cancer diagnosis — why the secrecy, what was missed, and who's really running the country? Raw, unfiltered, and unapologetic commentary you won't hear anywhere else.

Harjeet is dedicated to breaking the stigma around cancer, fertility loss, and hair loss due to treatment—especially within the South Asian community. After her cancer diagnosis and stem cell transplant, Harjeet turned her pain into purpose by breaking down barriers within her own family. While she received love and support, the topic of cancer was never discussed. Harjeet found a way to open up that conversation with her own family and now helps others do the same. We explore the emotional and familial challenges of fertility and hair loss—issues deeply significant in South Asian culture—and how Harjeet overcame these obstacles. She shares how founding Chai and Hope has created a supportive space for South Asian cancer patients. This conversation is about breaking stigma, overcoming family barriers, and finding strength through shared stories.

"Looking back now, cancer gave me something to fight for at a time when I felt like maybe life wasn't worth fighting for." - Dylan Slattery Dylan Slattery, VP at ClaimsBridge and motivational speaker at Stage Four 2 On Stage, joined me this week to share his powerful story of beating stage four cancer against all odds, beating it again when it recurred, and how that experience completely changed his perspective on life and healthcare. We discussed the traditional treatment plan that he initially followed, and the somewhat experimental immunotherapy treatment that actually worked.  We also discussed the impact that diagnosis had on his family, his friends, and him, what kept him fighting in his darkest moments, and why he wants to continue to share his story to inspire others.  Chapters: 00:00:00 Meet Dylan Slattery 00:11:33 Stage Four Melanoma Diagnosis 00:19:47 Dylan's Healthcare Journey 00:27:21 Why Immunotherapy Worked For Dylan 00:38:07 Melanoma Reoccurrence and Recovery 00:48:24 Simplifying Healthcare Communication 00:53:29 Enhancing Employee Well-being Through Healthcare 00:55:56 The Financial Barriers in Accessing Healthcare Services Key Links for Social: @SelfFunded on YouTube for video versions of the podcast and much more - https://www.youtube.com/@SelfFunded Listen on Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/1TjmrMrkIj0qSmlwAIevKA?si=068a389925474f02 Listen on Apple Podcasts - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/self-funded-with-spencer/id1566182286 Follow Spencer on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/spencer-smith-self-funded/ Follow Spencer on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/selffundedwithspencer/ Key Words:  melanoma, terminal, immunotherapy, cancer survivorship, healthcare journey, healthcare costs, cancer awareness wellness management, patient advocacy, survivor, cancer, stage four, stage 4, podcast, health, healthcare, health insurance, self funded, self funding #melanoma #terminal #immunotherapy #cancersurvivorship #healthcarejourney #healthcarecosts #cancerawareness #wellnessmanagement #patientadvocacy #survivor #cancer #stagefour #stage4 #podcast #health #healthcare #healthinsurance #selffunded #selffunding --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/spencer-harlan-smith/support

As a cancer survivor myself, I admit to being a longtime admirer (and stalker!) of Kris's work, even before my own diagnosis. Having followed Kris as an Oprah Super Soul 100 member, Kris revealed to me, and countless others, how she gained control of her anxiety after an incurable cancer diagnosis. In this candid conversation, we reflect on Kris's story, as a post-cancer survivor and thriver, and we celebrate her resilience and the recent milestone of her 21st anniversary since her stage four cancer diagnosis. As Kris shares her experience, she paints a picture of gratitude and stability, discusses the quirks of tumor behavior, and being able to find levity in life's most challenging moments. Visit whydidigetcancer.com for full show notes. --- This episode is sponsored in part by ButcherBox. I was SHOCKED to hear that when I buy frozen fish, it's frozen TWICE. It's usually frozen right after being caught, defrosted, processed, and then frozen again. I buy a lot of frozen fish; sometimes, the taste and texture can be inconsistent. Now that I have a better understanding of the processing of the fish before it hits my plate, it makes me wonder about quality. I called a friend who works at ButcherBox and asked her about the process with their salmon. She assured me that BB only freezes the fish ONCE! Which helps preserve the nutrients and taste. The big one for me is texture. When I eat fish, I want a firm texture, not rubbery! After getting over my shock (yes, fooled again by the food corporations) I asked my BB friend if I could pretty-please offer free salmon to my community. Please join me in welcoming Guy Tenenbaum. Six years ago, Guy was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, also known as metastatic cancer. This means the cancer had spread to at least one organ. People with stage 4 cancer are typically given a few weeks to a few months to live. A cancer cell comes from a normal cell that has damage in the mitochondria. The cancer cell adapts, takes alternative energy pathways, and can live without oxygen. When Guy was diagnosed 6 years ago, he was told there was nothing that could be done, that it was too late, and to enjoy the rest of his life. His cancer had spread to his bones, lymph nodes, and lungs. Guy explains that he didn't do any chemo or radiation because there was no treatment plan proposed to him. Guy discovered Thomas Seyfried's work and decided to see if it could help. He discovered the benefits of prolonged fasting and even completed a 40-day fast. Some people can do extended fasting, but if you're unable to comfortably fast, the fasting-mimicking diet may be beneficial. Guy continues researching new protocols and trying to stay one step ahead of highly adaptable cancer cells. I am blessed to have Dr. Rob Vasquez and Dr. Randy Johns here with me today. The Happy Healthy Guys are all about teaching people TRUE Health principles to help people live a Happy Healthy Life! After Johns recovered from late-stage cancer via integrative means, the two came together to become lifestyle entrepreneurs with the goal of empowering and equipping people with the tools necessary to live a happy, healthy life. The duo travels all over the country speaking and educating both regular people and doctors, informing them how to best take care of the body among all the confusion about what constitutes “healthy,” from nutrition and exercise to treating disease. In this episode, we cover weight loss and metabolism with Dr. Rob Vasquez and Dr. Randy Johns; they explain how health transcends the traditional understanding of calorie counting. In their exploration, they shed light on the multifaceted nature of metabolic health in modern society, emphasizing the influence of dietary quality, environmental toxins, and personalized interventions. Driven by their experiences and professional insights, they challenge the prevailing narrative by advocating for a deeper understanding of metabolic dysfunction and the necessity of prioritizing health over mere weight loss. Their holistic approach offers a paradigm shift towards sustainable wellness and lasting metabolic balance, redefining how we perceive and pursue health in contemporary life.
