A Note from Jacob: When I started this podcast in November 2019 with Reality TV commentator Brent Wolgamott as the pilot guest, I did not expect to hit episode number 350! Nor did I expect to converse with famed authors and musicians, Emmy-winning journalists, podcast hosts, Reality TV icons, a Tony-winning producer, and viral social media sensations.  I want to thank all my guests who took time out of their schedule to visit the show and their media teams who trusted my platform.  Finally, I want to say “Thank You” to all of you who tuned into every episode. Thanks to his friends, such as Emma Taylor and Winston, the Impersonating Turtle, fans rallied and crowned him the show's sophomore season winner. Following his AGT success, Terry spent 11 years at his theatre in the Mirage Hotel and Casino, playing in front of millions before moving to the Strat Hotel and Casino for an all-new, multi-media, immersive Vegas production: Terry Fator: One Man, a Hundred Voices, a Thousand Laughs.  In addition to Emma and Winston, they are joined by Elvis impersonator Maynard Thompkins, annoying neighbor Duggie Scott Walker, Vikki the Cougar, Hyphen, and a host of famous singers.Terry started his foundation when he was not performing in Vegas or taking his show on the road. The Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas will close permanently on July 17, 2024. To comply with Nevada gambling regulations, the casino must distribute over $1.6 million in unclaimed jackpots before closing. This includes up to $1.2 million in slot machine prizes and $400,000 in table game winnings, which it began distributing on July 9 and must complete by July 16. Large crowds and minor altercations have resulted from this giveaway. The Mirage has rehomed its animals and closed its Beatles Love by Cirque Du Soleil show in preparation for shutting down. The casino, once opened in 1989, was known for the Siegfried & Roy show and will rebrand as Hard Rock Las Vegas, paying $80 million in severance to laid-off employees. Two longtime institutions within the real estate appraisal industry – Valuation Expo and the Appraisal Buzz Newsletter & podcast, – have a new owner, effective today. Joan Trice, who created the two entities and has been a leader in this industry for the better part of three decades, has sold the two businesses to Appraiser eLearning (AEL), an education media publisher with its own growing presence in the industry. AEL is a subsidiary of StoryBoard EMP, whose CEO Jim McLeod negotiated the purchase, in collaboration with AEL officers Hal Humphreys and Bryan Reynolds. Under the new management team, the staff of both Valuation Expo and Appraisal Buzz will remain in place and no changes are planned to either entity. The next Valuation Expo is scheduled for August 7-9 at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas. “Joan Trice is one of the most well-known leaders in the real estate appraisal industry, and it will be our honor – and our challenge – to continue these two important resources for the industry,” said McLeod. “Joan has done an incredible job of making both extremely successful, and our team at AEL is uniquely qualified to maintain and build upon that success.” Trice will continue to be active in the industry. She is the President of the Collateral Risk Network (CRN), a non-profit group that will continue to hold its annual meeting in conjunction with Val Expo. Trice is also CEO of Clearbox, a software database company. “I love this industry,” Trice said, “And even though I'm a conference junkie and love everything about this business, I have reached the point where I need to scale back, so I have hand-picked my successor. The team at Appraiser eLearning has really impressed me, not only with their continuing education products and communication skills, but also their conference management skills. They bring real energy and a love of this business, and I am confident they will build on the success of these two companies.” Trice started Val Expo two decades ago, in 2003, and has grown it into one of the most well-attended and highly anticipated education and networking gatherings in the industry. As the industry grew, Trice identified a similar need for a regular – in fact, weekly – communication resource that keep appraisers, lenders, regulators and others up-to-date on this fast-changing business. Trice noted that AEL's technological expertise and education focus promise to “raise the bar” for both the conference and the newsletter. “With this change, I will have more time to focus on CRN, and I can tell you I plan to rely on Appraisal Buzz to get the word out, whenever I have news to share,” Trice said. “I am very proud of what we have created and very glad that the new management team plans to keep our team in place. They are rock stars.” Trice has worked with a four-member team to manage Val Expo and Appraisal Buzz – Jim Morrison, Karen Connolly, Irimar Waters, and Navi Johnson – who all will remain with the organization. The Atlanta Hawks lost to the Philadelphia 76ers last night on the road at Wells Fargo Center. The Hawks weren't able to contain Joel Embiid coming off an injury. Trae Young and Dejounte Murray didn't have their best game and John Collins just couldn't keep it together in the fourth quarter of that game. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about how Nate McMillan shouldn't be the one to blame for a game that the Hawks could've won. Also, they talked about Landry Fields mentioning that Bogdan Bogdanovic should return soon. Secondly, Arthur Smith's play calling abilities are still in question after their loss to the Washington Commanders. The Atlanta Falcons can't dwell on that because they will take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday at Mercedes Benz Stadium. Jarvis Davis and Tenitra Batiste talked about if they still have faith in Smith and whether or not the Falcons are still capable of stopping the run. Also, they tried to figure out why Smith has so much faith in Marcus Mariota. Last week, MGM Resorts announced it has reached an agreement to sell the operations of The Mirage Hotel & Casino to Hard Rock International for $1.075 billion in cash, subject to customary working capital adjustments. On the same day, the CEO of Hard Rock International, Jim Allen, said "the faux volcano outside of the Mirage Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas will be torn down as part of a remodeling of the soon-to-be acquired resort."
