Peter and Karl go way back. They were in their first band Savalas together which morphed into Sine Star Project. Sine Star Project (an anagram of Peter's name) are a tricky act to pin down, but you can hear influences from the Buckleys (Tim and Jeff), Elliott Smith, Aimee Mann, Love, Ry Cooder and Pink Floyd to The Flaming Lips, American Music Club and Grant Lee Buffalo…even Berlioz and Bruckner. We learn about Peter's start as a musician on trumpet and piano, though to achieving his dreams fronting a band signed by One Little Indian (who also have Skunk Anansie and Bjork on their roster). Peter is also a talented producer, and talks us through his time working as a producer and engineer on a host of bands, most notably The Delays. We finished with a glimpse of Peter's current projects, fusing classical and electronica genres together and taking them out on the road as a solo act. The Equalizer Season 3 Episode 2: Blood & Wine: Part 2 Aired on CBS: September 23, 1987 Directed by: Alan Metzger Written by : Coleman Luck Featuring: Telly Savalas, William Atherton, Moira Sinise Yowza. Once again, they are starting out strong for season three - a two parter airing on the same night, grabbing America by their lapels and saying "We're back and we're not messing around." And it's hard to start out any more grandiose plotline than William Atherton threating to poison the entire city of New York, and God appearing to Telly Savalas and absolving him of his horrible past. We were blown away by the first part last week, and turns out that was just an appetizer, just setting the stage for all the craziness in this episode. Great outdoor shots of the city, nutso plotlines, and lots of screentime for Savalas and Atherton to shine. An amazing episode that bodes well for the rest of season three. @equalizerspod facebook: equalizerspodcast equalizerspodcast at gmail dot com

Almost certainly best remembered for his massive hit detective show of the 1970's Kojak, Savalas' lengthy career before and after is explored, through discussions of his one-shot as James Bond nemesis Blofeld in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, landing the role of Pontius Pilate in The Greatest Story Every Told, and his status as a legendary bald sex symbol. Along the way, much time is given to his very brief appearance in The Muppet Movie, the who's who that attended his funeral, speculation about whether the Sesame Street character is named for him, who the hell the other Muppets are named after, the best joke from the British sitcom Only Fools and Horses, and how much Kevin Sorbo sucks. Joe Cirillo An Offer I couldn't Refuse: Growing up in the Bronx, Bellmore's Joe Cirillo used to pitch pennies on the street corner, and when he amassed enough money, he'd go straight to the movies. So in the mid-60s, fate seemed to be following when he found himself a New York City Police officer on the beat outside a Manhattan complex where stars such as Phil Silvers and Red Buttons lived. "They knew me as Joe the cop," he said. Making acquaintance with these celebrities led to more than just getting a glimpse of their starlight. "How would you like to be an actor," he said were the words of director Mike Nichols that embarked him on a film industry career. Of course, the New York City cop was definitely skeptical, but eventually succumbed to Nichols' assurances that they would simply turn him into one. Soon enough, Cirillo interviewed with Paramount and landed a role in The Godfather. Unfortunately his scene was cut, but he can be seen throughout one of the film's most famous sequences. Still, nothing was going to keep him away, especially since the presence of Marlon Brando, Al Pacino and James Caan didn't affect his ability to remain professional. "It was inspiring," he said. He later found a voice in several smaller projects, but the next phase in his career began when he was hired to provide security for Telly Savalas on Kojak. Taken with Cirillo after a year of service, the star told him, "Once you retire, come to California and you've got a job." "I retired and became his right hand man," Cirillo said. Initially he obtained work as a technical advisor, before moving on to writing. With the show's scribes coming to him for ideas, he realized his personal experiences could be put to better use. "I'm in production meetings, I read the scripts, I make adjustments. [I thought] why can't I write myself," he said. Unfortunately, a script approved by Savalas never was shot because the show was canceled. The writing went on hold, as Kojak was spun off into Eischeid, and he nabbed a co-starring role next to Joe Don Baker as Detective Malfita. After its short life and speaking roles in Splash and Ghostbusters, Cirillo sold a screenplay in 1990, which was never shot. Today, he partners with fellow screenwriter Marc Baron for Oroloro Entertainment. With mostly romantic comedies looking for backers, they inked a three-picture, $20 million deal with investors from Dubai in 2001. This time, the September 11th attacks put a hold on all business relations with Dubai, thus killing the projects. Since then, the bad economy has slowed things but he knows one break can open doors on everything else. "You get one going, they all go," Cirillo said. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/otcpod1/support

Horror Express - or Pánico en el Transiberiano translated as Panic on the Trans-Siberian, is an English language Spanish science fiction horror film loosely based on the novella Who Goes There? (also a basis for the Thing From Another World, which was in turn was remade as the classic The Thing by John Carpenter.) The film stars Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, with Alberto de Mendoza, Silvia Tortosa, Julio Peña, George Rigaud and Ángel del Pozo in supporting roles, and Telly Savalas in a guest appearance. In 1906, Professor Sir Alexander Saxton, a renowned British anthropologist, played by Lee, is returning to Europe by the Trans-Siberian Express from Shanghai to Moscow. With him is a crate containing the frozen remains of a primitive humanoid creature that he discovered in a cave in Manchuria. Before the train departs Shanghai, a thief is found dead on the platform. His eyes are completely white, without irises or pupils. Later the humanoid is reanimated, roaming the moving train, leaving bodies with the same opaque, white eyes in it's wake. Autopsies suggest that the brains of the victims are being drained of memories and knowledge. When the humanoid is gunned down by police Inspector Mirov, the threat seems to have been eliminated… But the murders continue.Like all Italian and Spanish films of the period, Horror Express was filmed mostly without sound, with effects and voices dubbed into the film later. Lee, Cushing and Savalas all provided their own voices for the English market, with a certain Roger Delgado providing the voice for Inspector Mirov. According to Director Eugenio Martín, the film was made because a producer obtained a train set from the production of Nicholas and Alexandra. "He came up with the idea of writing a script just so he would be able to use this prop,"Horror Express was filmed in Madrid between 1971 and 1972 and produced on a low budget of $300,000 and released a few months after the topic of our very first podcast episode, Dracula AD 1972.$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$£$Just in case anyone has too much money and wants to give a bit to us to help with our hosting n stuff. According to Abraham Hicks, 11:11 is the UNIverse knocking itself out to give you evidence of your alignment. 11:11 is the UNIverse's way of urging InI to pay attention to InI heart, InI soul and InI inner intuition. 11:11 serves as a wake up call to InI so that opportunities are not missed in this lifetime. Uncle Mose and I have had this convo for like 20 years, dating back to our I.C. College Street days. I see it constantly--on the cable box clock, the phone, the microwave... 11:11 just so happens to be the birth month and birth date of the Incomparable Beverly Cleo Senter. I miss you and love you bunches, Grandma! I have been in a serious funk since June 14, 2017 and I am glad that I have finally mustered up the strength to get this mf'er uploaded. PEACE

On this interview episode, Andy, Gene, and Derek talk with Zak Sally, the creator behind Like a Dog,  Recidivist, and Sammy the Mouse…a narrative that Derek calls “the Waiting for Godot of comics.” His second installment in the planned four-book Sammy the Mouse series just recently came out from Uncivilized Books, and the guys discuss with Zak the genesis of that project and his strategies for plotting the story. Zak also talks about his beginnings with zines in the 1990s;  music and his time with the band, Low; his efforts with La Mano, his own publishing arm (pun intended); his work on the upcoming fourth issue of Recidivist; the artistic limitations of Tumblr; and his experiences in Duluth and Minneapolis. Along the way, the conversation (de)evolves into a discussion of Battle of the Network Stars, Telly Savalas commercials for Duluth, and how the name “Dylan” is actually pronounced in Hibbing, Minnesota.
