Elzie Flenard hosts another engaging episode, this time featuring Mitchelle Lyle and Paul O'Neil. The episode delves into the unique intersection of Mitchelle and Paul's paths, exploring the themes of vision, hope, and perseverance.Mitchelle shares her journey with ITA (International Traveler's Academy), a startup focusing on connecting employers and employees in the niche market of working and living internationally. The momentum and impact of ITA led Mitchelle to explore her passion for hydroponics, a soilless gardening method. She highlights the significance of contributing positively to her community, drawing parallels between her experiences in the corporate world and her desire for more meaningful change.Paul, an electrician turned IT professional, narrates his story of transitioning careers and discovering hydroponics. The chance meeting with Mitchelle at the National Society of Black Engineers conference sparked their collaboration on a hydroponics program. The conversation shifted to their shared goals of piloting the program in Milwaukee and eventually expanding to Brooklyn, addressing challenges and showcasing their adaptability. The episode offers valuable insights into entrepreneurship, community impact, and the fascinating world of hydroponics.Highlights:03:52 - I don't want to ever get stuck in the space where I feel stuck in a job or I feel stuck in a particular career, and it's very one-dimensional because, as people, we're just not. Even considering that for myself and the momentum that I have for ITA, I moved away from Milwaukee, I came back, I live in the same neighborhood that I grew up in, and a lot of those things didn't change. And I have been thinking about what I can do to really impact my community in a positive way.20:15 - I think it's because hydroponics are probably on the cusp of still being new enough that people are confused when you say it, and it's like you have to convince them of how good it is. But I think once people understand it, then it can be a part of a lot of different programs. It can be a part of a lot of these initiatives.23:07 - Somebody could put some big money into hydroponics, and this thing could blow up. So, I think that is one of the things, like people just aren't putting money behind it yet because there are a lot of things in this world. We're still stuck on the old stuff. Instead of looking ahead and saying, "You know what? This right here is what we need."Connect with Elzie LinkedInJoin the Flame StartersSupport the journeyContact Mitchelle Lyle and Paul O'Neil EmailTikTokLinkedInWebsiteFacebookInstagramCheck out...

Mitchelle's story is one of unwavering resilience, from being a teenage mother to overcoming abuse and educational setbacks. She emphasizes the importance of self-protection, self-listening, and the determination needed to navigate life's toughest challenges. Mitchelle's drive to create a brighter future for her children and break generational cycles is truly inspiring. Her experience as a therapist and mentor adds depth to discussions about the complexities of parenting and the profound significance of providing love and support to her children. Overall, this episode is a powerful reminder of the strength of self-belief and resilience, offering valuable insights into personal growth. KEY TAKEAWAYS Mitchelle Greenaway faced numerous setbacks in her life, including being a teenage mother, dropping out of college, and experiencing abuse. However, she used these setbacks as motivation to create a better life for herself and her children. Mitchelle's mother played a significant role in supporting her and providing a safe and loving environment for her and her children. Her mother's unconditional love and protection helped Mitchelle navigate through difficult times. Mitchelle approached motherhood as a job and made a commitment to ensure that her children had a better life than she did. She focused on providing love, support, and guidance to her children, even though she didn't have a traditional family structure. Mitchelle emphasized the importance of self-discovery and personal growth in her journey as a mother. She recognized that in order to be the best parent she could be, she needed to understand herself and address her own challenges and traumas. Mitchelle's experiences in relationships taught her the importance of setting boundaries and not accepting mistreatment. She learned to prioritize her own well-being and the well-being of her children, even if it meant leaving toxic relationships. BEST MOMENTS "I fell into therapy. I fell in love with it because I was mentoring in a school. I had been… Actually, I think we have to go back a little bit further. Let's go back to the beginning." "I remember just making this kind of pact with her, like my job, my job role was to kind of, I saw it as a job. I said, how do I do this? What do I do? And I remember looking at her thinking like, oh my gosh, this is just so surreal and you've come out of me." "I've learned this definitely from this relationship. People will paint pictures. They will say the right things. They'll create a canvas with their words, but there's no actual action. There's no actual canvas being painted. It's just a lot of words that's been thrown and you're allowing your mind to create your own canvas, but that person never actually created the painting for you." "I remember her going to his family's house that day and saying to them, I'll go to prison for my daughter. I'll grow locks and I will go to prison if he ever touches my daughter again. And so she's been like a real, like, my mum's such a softie. I feel like people can take the mick, like have taken a lot of advantage of her. But when it comes to me, there's an element of, there's this lioness there that, you know when you see the lioness that will protect the young? My mum, that's my mum." "I've always been somewhat… This is how you became… This is how I became a therapist because I was in this relationship and even Reese's… Dad, when I said I wanted to go and do my maths, resit my maths GCSE, he was like, no, you can't, you need to stay at home. So even when I got my first job working for a company called the Winter Fellowship, he refused to help me. He wouldn't have her. He was like, no, you need to be at home. And I was like, what? Where did this come from? Where did this kind of personality of yours come from? It wasn't there before?" When you are a social media influencer, you are basically selling a BRAND. That's the product! While the major social media platforms are great and have tons of perks, they are not the only players in this game.   Podcasting, Radio shows, Talk shows, and Speaking engagements are all high dollar revenue streams for the right people. Podcasting has garnered an immense popularity over the years. A podcast is a set of digital audio files that are available on the internet for downloading. A user can subscribe to the podcast to receive the digital files once they are uploaded. Businesses nowadays are increasingly using podcasts to improve their prospects. It is a powerful marketing tool. Podcasts have become the new talk radio on mobile devices. In fact, the increased usage of mobile phones has led to the explosive growth of podcasting. A few of the Benefits of Podcasting: Podcasting is an Alternative to VideoIncreased Traffic GenerationHelps in Building Better Relationships with the AudienceEasy to CreatePodcasts are Highly EngagingImproves Public Speaking Skills   You may think of podcasting as just another platform to share content with your audience, but in reality, it is so much more than that. Podcasts are an authority platform. Unlike popular social media channels, you aren't simply writing a caption or sharing a picture. With a podcast, you're broadcasting your thought leadership from a far more prestigious vantage point than Instagram or Facebook. Many creators jump into podcasting hoping to book paid sponsorships or convert listeners to clients. This is just the beginning of what podcasting has to offer.

Whether you have a small loyal following or thousands of downloads per episode, promoting an offer that brings in recurring revenue is a smart way to create passive income. The key to this is to share a subscription-based product or service with your audience. This could be a product or service that you are an affiliate for, or one that you create yourself.  “Whether it's your own offer or an affiliate offer, it should align with your podcast brand and solve a problem for your listener. Not only will it be a win-win for everyone involved, it will also bring in recurring revenue to your business,” explains Jaclyn Mellone, a podcasting expert, and host of Go-To Gal, a top podcast for female entrepreneurs. “As an affiliate, you want to seek out partnerships that pay recurring commissions. Four years ago, my former co-host and I signed up as an affiliate for a well known SaaS company. Each time a listener signed up for the service through our link, we started to receive a percentage of that person's monthly bill on a recurring basis—indefinitely. I stopped running ads for this company last year, but it continues to be a five-figure passive income stream for us!”    A podcast gives you your own media platform where you're showcasing your expertise week after week. This visibility puts you on the radar of other media outlets and helps you stand out from the crowd when pitching yourself.  “Whether it's print, TV, digital, or even other podcasts, when you want to pitch yourself for TV or a popular podcast or a huge online platform, having a living, breathing authority platform in your podcast showcases you as an expert,” says Mellone. “Your podcast adds to your credibility, commitment and professionalism as the go-to expert in your industry.

“When you show up consistently, opportunities tend to fall on your lap. Don't be surprised if your favorite magazine invites you to be a contributor or a TV producer wants you to host a new show. After finding me through my podcast, Yahoo Finance invited me to guest host a web show on business. Hearing me interact with guests, respond off the cuff, and share my own business advice on solo episodes gave them the confidence to put me on live TV! This was an incredible opportunity for me to go on-set in New York City and get publicity for my business,” shares Mellone. Image isn't everything. LuAn Mitchell has been fortunate to be able to cut through the public's image of her as a "paper doll"-someone who is only defined by the clothes she wears-and release the core of her being. She has now chosen who she is and what she decides to wear on life's journey based on her experience, instinct, and wisdom. In Paper Doll, for the first time, Canada's leading businesswoman and philanthropist shares her story. LuAn tells what happened behind the scenes of her public life and offers sage advice to readers about breaking the barriers that others can build around you. LuAn's simple principles will teach you how to look for the answers within yourself to achieve personal success, regardless if others think you are sure to fail. She has learned that it's usually the fear of losing it all-money, pride, and stature-that can stop us from believing in ourselves, but the only genuine loss is when we fail to be authentic to our true selves.

Mitchelle owed $2,206 in rent. He knocked at the door, but no one answered. So he identified himself and found a way to get in. The house was filthy but Mitchelle was nowhere to be found.
