This moment sheds light on the subtleties of mental well-being, particularly when there's no formal diagnosis, through Billie Rae's personal experiences. From grappling with the challenges of burnout to navigating life's unexpected turns, including personal tragedies and the global upheaval of the pandemic, Billie Rae's story is a testament to the human spirit's resilience. We discuss the societal stigma around mental health, the difficulty in acknowledging when we're struggling, and the importance of recognizing the signs of deteriorating mental health. Billie Rae reflects on their journey through these challenges and how art became a sanctuary and a form of self-expression during these times. This moment is more than just a narrative; it's a glimpse into the reality many face silently - balancing professional responsibilities, personal passions, and the complexities of family life. As an artist, I think the biggest opportunity for you and for me is to learn how to tell our story. To reveal who we really are The experiences we've gone through The struggles that have defined us and the awareness, or confusion that's brought. The seeds of doubt that have settled in The influences that directed our focus, the deeper restlessness that continues to go unresolved And the parallels between what's true and what's been manufactured. This is far from easy work though.

Microsoft/FTC hearings reveal numerous details about the Xbox business The FTC's economist could not explain how the acquisition would actually harm competition The FTC bungled its questioning of Phil Spencer so badly that he had to explain how mergers work to the agency. Microsoft decided to pursue AB after it learned that Sony was paying publishers to skip Xbox and that it was trying to make Starfield exclusive to PlayStation A Bethesda executive asked Phil Spencer why AB was so different, noting that some Bethesda titles became Xbox exclusives Phil Spencer says that Microsoft "expects" Xbox to be profitable, but he never said that it ever was. Its continual third-place finishes in the console market is what kicked off Microsoft's game studio buying spree: Sony was outspending it on exclusives Phil Spencer also admitted to what I think is Xbox's biggest failure, it's lack of an "organic" strategy for mobile. Spencer: there is no native Minecraft on PS5 because Sony. (Related: if Microsoft buys AB, Sony will not give AB advanced access to PS6) Xbox Cloud Gaming was promoted as a way to get Xbox in front of 3 billion more eyeballs, but it's been used as a way for Xbox console users to test new games before they buy them. Sony's PlayStation boss came off badly during the hearings. Microsoft considered "spending Sony out of business." If this deal fails, it should do just that AB demanded a better revenue share and threatened to pull COD off Xbox otherwise. They had no choice, so AB gets an 80/20 revenue split instead of the usual 70/30. Blackmail! Microsoft considered buying over 100 separate companies to gain a foothold in mobile gaming (and overall). Key among them are Zynga, Bungie, Sega, CD Projekt Red, and Gearbox Windows 11 Deja vu: Microsoft issues Windows 11 version 22H2 Moment 3 as a preview update A quick update on that new switch in Windows Update Welcome to the nanny state: Windows 11 just can't stop telling us how to do things Microsoft wants to bring Cloud PC to consumers for some reason DuckDuckGo's web browser is here for Windows in beta. Moment #3 // Why Most Leaders Avoid Hard ConversationsWhy do so many leaders choose to avoid hard conversations? It's much more about a lack of will than a lack of skill. Avoiding interpersonal conflict isn't that hard, and it's easy to rationalize why you don't need to do it. Competent leaders know the power of difficult conversations, and they recognize that it's the only real path to high performance. Friends, today on the “Word on Fire Show,” we continue our series of discussions called “Understanding the Present Moment.” Brandon Vogt and I are examining four massively influential figures who together help explain our present moment, how we arrived at where we are today. The ideologies undergirding much of the unrest in our culture stem from these four thinkers: Karl Marx, Friedrich Nietzsche, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Michel Foucault. Once we understand these figures and their key ideas, we will recognize them everywhere and be prepared to engage today's challenges. In today's second discussion, we focus on Jean-Paul Sartre. A listener asks, how does someone be selfless and yet love himself? Links The Installation of Bishop Robert Barron Wonder Conference – WonderConference.com NOTE: Do you like this podcast?
