Kevin Dalton VK4WA at age 74 has passed away after being in a nursing home with dementia for some time. Kevin Dalton, now Silent Key, had been an enthusiastic long time member of the Brisbane Amateur Radio Club over many years, serving in most club committee positions. VK4WA had a passion for building kit and homebrew projects. He was always keen to start many and varied projects including the club parrot repeater, a club beacon which morphed into the WSPR Beacon and the installation of old and new repeaters at Rochedale, serving as the officer in charge. His radio interests were varied, covering the full spectrum from the 2200m band through to microwave bands. He was also working on the leading edge of LED transmissions and with VK4EBP Jan Oskuita successfully transmitted signals from the Rochedale club to Redbank Plains, then co-wrote a published paper on the findings that drew interest from England and across the world. In his later years, Kevin found travelling to the Rochdale club shack taxing, and so he joined the Ipswich and District Radio Club for a short time, before convalescing at home. His funeral will be held at Mt Gravatt Cemetery & Crematorium Chapel at 620 Mains Road, Nathan on Monday 16 March at 12:30PM. None of the roundtable participants like the term "super soldier." The only reason it is being used is because most in the alternative media community are familiar with it. A more appropriate term would be "enhanced humans" or perhaps "genetically modified transhumans." The future of war is going to look really, really weird. The super soldier research that DARPA is working on right now is unlike anything we have ever seen before. If DARPA is successful, and if the American people don't object, the soldiers of the future will be genetically modified transhumans capable of superhuman feats. Do you want a soldier that can run faster than Usain Bolt? DARPA is working on that. Do you want a soldier that won't need food or sleep for days? DARPA is working on that. Do you want a soldier that can regrow lost limbs? DARPA is working on that. Do you want a soldier that can outlift Olympic weightlifters and communicate telepathically? DARPA is working on that. Americans flock to movies about superheroes and mutants, and soon they may actually have real life superheroes and mutants fighting their wars for them. But at what cost? According to the U.S. Army's plans for the future, soldiers will be able to carry huge weights, live off their fat stores for extended periods, and even regrow limbs blown apart by bombs. Most gene modification techniques involve placing genetically modified DNA inside a virus and injecting it into the human body. The virus then enters human cells, and its modified DNA attaches itself to human DNA inside those cells. When you really stop and think about this kind of technology, the implications are staggering. Could viruses be used to genetically modify humanity on a large scale? How would the rest of humanity respond to a "super race" of mutants that are clearly superior to the rest of us? When you start messing with creation, it opens Pandora's Box. The possibilities are endless, but so are the potential problems. Just because we can do something does not mean that we should. There may be consequences decades down the road that we cannot even conceive of right now. Other super soldier research projects involve advanced technology and robotics rather than genetic modification. DARPA's Silent Talk program has been exploring mind-reading technology with devices that can pick up electrical signals inside soldiers' brains and send them over the internet. Technology has progressed to the point where it would definitely be possible for a scientific dictatorship to completely and totally dominate humanity unlike anything we have ever seen before. We should be very careful about what we create. We might be creating our own living hell.

None of the roundtable participants like the term "super soldier." The only reason it is being used is because most in the alternative media community are familiar with it. A more appropriate term would be "enhanced humans" or perhaps "genetically modified transhumans." The future of war is going to look really, really weird. The super soldier research that DARPA is working on right now is unlike anything we have ever seen before. If DARPA is successful, and if the American people don't object, the soldiers of the future will be genetically modified transhumans capable of superhuman feats. Do you want a soldier that can run faster than Usain Bolt? DARPA is working on that. Do you want a soldier that won't need food or sleep for days? DARPA is working on that. Do you want a soldier that can regrow lost limbs? DARPA is working on that. Do you want a soldier that can outlift Olympic weightlifters and communicate telepathically? DARPA is working on that. Americans flock to movies about superheroes and mutants, and soon they may actually have real life superheroes and mutants fighting their wars for them. But at what cost? According to the U.S. Army's plans for the future, soldiers will be able to carry huge weights, live off their fat stores for extended periods, and even regrow limbs blown apart by bombs. Most gene modification techniques involve placing genetically modified DNA inside a virus and injecting it into the human body. The virus then enters human cells, and its modified DNA attaches itself to human DNA inside those cells. When you really stop and think about this kind of technology, the implications are staggering. Could viruses be used to genetically modify humanity on a large scale? How would the rest of humanity respond to a "super race" of mutants that are clearly superior to the rest of us? When you start messing with creation, it opens Pandora's Box. The possibilities are endless, but so are the potential problems. Just because we can do something does not mean that we should. There may be consequences decades down the road that we cannot even conceive of right now. Other super soldier research projects involve advanced technology and robotics rather than genetic modification. In this episode I'm going to be diving into a topic of interest to everyone in the nuclear energy field. It is a scandalous expose on the history of the dreaded ALARA principle regarding radiation exposure regulations (As Low As Reasonably Achievable), based on the idea that no amount of radiation is safe. What is the scientific basis behind this idea and is it supported by the evidence, or has there been a massive multi-decadal conspiracy? My guest today has published a book that suggests the ALARA principle is a regulatory roadblock paid for by big oil, and implicitly supported by scientific review panels that may have been more intent on shutting down open air nuclear weapons testing than following the evidence. Returning guest and friend of The Rational View, author Mike Conley has lived in Japan, Hawaii, and all over the US and has backpacked through Thailand and Cambodia. As a lifelong science nerd, Mike became interested in nuclear power in 2010, and quickly saw that the field was in dire need of writers who could explain the technology to the average reader. So he joined the Thorium Energy Alliance, met dozens of scientists and engineers, and made them an offer: “You explain it to me and I'll explain it to the world.” The first published book from this years-long effort was Earth is a Nuclear Planet. Its short companion book The LNT Report is now available. The LNT report is based on detailed investigations by Dr. Edward Calabrese into scientific misconduct underlying the history of the Linear No-Threshold radiation regulatory regime. This work brings to light a decades-long scientific scandal that helped to derail the nuclear revolution and entrench fossil fuels and climate change over the past 50 years.
