Do you know how to decode body language (to get the outcomes you want)? We've all heard it before — the vast majority of human communication is non-verbal. So how can you use that to your advantage? Shelly O'Donovan is an expert in the art of non-verbal communication, and she will share tips for better understanding facial expressions, learning confident body language, and becoming a human lie detector.
Our guest today is joining us from Ireland, James O'Donovan. James is a long time vegan and environmentalist, the current chair of the Cork Environmental Forum and is a member of the Cork Food Policy Council, and runs an online magazine called Vegan Sustainably. James is working on projects that redirect government funding and subsides from animal agriculture to ecosystem restoration and plant-based farming. He explains the damaging impacts of subsidizing animal agriculture and the detrimental harms of regenerative grazing. He explores the connection of the mindset of European colonizers and our speciesist views today and what he calls the colonialism of land and the colonialism of seed. He also shares his journey with Buddhist meditation that has help expand his views of compassion and non-violence.

This week I was joined by Oxygen Advantage master instructor Rose O'Donovon. Rose teaches people how to utilise breathing as a tool to improve their health and improve their fitness. Having used and benefited from the practice herself with her own health issues, Rose has put the time and effort into learning the method founded by Patrick Mckeown, and is now sharing her knowledge with anybody willing to put the work in, to improve their health and their performance. Rose covers a lot of the science behind the method, as well as sharing ways you can begin to implement the practices into your daily life and your training. Rose explains the very tangible correlation between sleep, breathing, and emotion, and just how important breathing is for getting good quality sleep. The principles covered with The Oxygen Advantage are based on nasal breathing, and getting people to breathe properly to prevent over-breathing, a common cause for many physical and mental illnesses. We also discussed several more topics on the subject of breathing including, improving naturally occurring EPO, when and when not surgery is the answer to breathing difficulties, hormone control, erectile dysfunction, alcohol consumption, processed foods, and a bunch more that'll definitely have you paying more attention to how you breathe. There is a sleepiness assessment you can perform by answering the following questionnaire, If you score 12 or more you should seek medical help. Thank you very much for sharing Rose! Enjoy the episode and have a great weekend!

On today’s episode, I’m picking the brains of former world champion kickboxer and karate Olympic hopeful. Sport has been heavily featuring in her life since she can remember. Always looking for somewhere to get moving, it was walking inside a gym in her hometown of Sligo that kickstarted everything - quite literally. Taking up kickboxing took her all the way to the top as she established herself as one of the world’s best athletes in the sport. Suffering in silence, no one knew her career and life were about to turn on their heads during a holiday where her family witnessed her pain for the first time, that had been there for years. Being diagnosed with Crohn's disease didn’t hold her down however as she returned to take home the world champion title once again. Switching lanes, the athlete traded in her gloves for a karate belt and with the Olympics in sight, set about conquering a new arena. Sharing her journey so far, touching on the dark side of sport and letting me in on the realities of life as an elite athlete, here’s what it’s like to be Caradh O’Donovan. For every whiskey business, there are hundreds of ancillary businesses that, working together, help us get the whiskey into our glass wherever we are in the world. One of these businesses is IrishMalts, an online spirits retailer founded in 2018 by two brothers from Cork. You see, the story's already good! Robert and John O'Donovan have been busy supporting the growth of Irish whiskey since founding their business, finding ways to make it easier for smaller whiskey companies to list products for sale and distribution, and by offering a service that not only helps distilleries and brands sell their products more easily but by getting that product into customer's hands and bellies around the world faster.
