For this week's conversation I am joined by Latasha Strachan. Latasha's essence revolves around being a student, a teacher and a coach. She is driven by authenticity and her passion is in spiritual and emotional wholeness in women seeking empowerment. Latasha is not new to Shifting Perspectives and I am always happy to have her back jumping into new topics with me. This week we discuss perseverance. We all go through critical moments in our life when we sometimes question our ability to persevere. Latasha reminds us that these are the times when we need to draw on our 'anchor' for the strength to persevere.

The Living Full Out show encourages you to share personal heartbreaks with others and lift yourself up. Maybe you've dealt with a lot of grief and it left you hopeless. Perhaps you feel you are alone and that your world is crumbling beneath your feet. Join Nancy as she discusses how to be courageous and open up about past distress. Our first caller Leigh wonders what should you do when a person is too emotional and how you don't get wrapped up in their feelings? Nancy advises her to stick to a simple script and let the other person know that they are being heard even if you disagree with them. Nancy also says to Leigh that if someone is ranting to her and she feels overwhelmed it is OK to stand up for herself and make sure this person can't clutter her mind with a toxic mindset. Tune in to discover how unbottling emotions can lead to more productive conversations. Our inspirational guest Barbara Legare comes on and shares with us how many different heartbreaks shaped her. Barbara's first loss was at 15 when her father passed away of lung cancer which led her to seek comfort in drugs, drinking, and boys. In her early years she became pregnant which led her to having two abortions. She then gave birth to her son Keven. At a young age, Keven felt disconnected and awkward and was diagnosed with severe anxiety. One day, Barbara's life changed when Keven committed suicide while she went downstairs. To honor Keven's legacy she wrote a book to show what depression and suicidal thoughts look like and support others through the same thing. Tune in to discover how Barbara found purpose through her traumas.Perhaps you feel defeated from the obstacles in your life. Try to open up about past grief with others to lift you up and feel connected. Being courageous truly represents what it means to live full out.

Week ThreeDecember 17, 2021Remembering and Persevering! Hebrews 10:32-39So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. Hebrews 10:35 (NIV)We have heard of stories of people who have waited for loved ones to return from a journey or an assignment and what a joy it is when they finally receive them back. We have also heard of some people who have unfortunately given up “a few minutes” before realizing their dreams.I once heard a story about a miner who gave up and sold off what he considered a useless mine but unknown to him, he was just a few meters away from the gold that he had been looking for most of his life. In Hebrews 10:32-39, the author talks about remembering our love or commitment to faith in Jesus. “So do not throw away your confidence, it will be richly rewarded,” (v. 35). “You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what God has promised” (v. 37).As we await the coming of the Lord, we are being called upon:To Wait patiently on God's promiseTo Remember our love and commitment to the message of Jesus. To Persevere in order to receive what the Lord has promised. Do you know what the Lord has promised you? Knowing what the Lord has promised us is one of the things that will help us to persevere and not give up, especially when the journey gets hard. As we wait on the Lord's coming, let us do so joyfully and with perseverance, knowing that the Lord is coming soon and will not delay! Are you expectant? The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. 2 It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, 3 and many peoples shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide disputes for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. 5 O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the LORD.

Hey everyone, On this week's episode we go into perservering, and how sticking with something, even when it is hard can be the most rewarding action you can take. It's already the end of Quarter 1 of 2021, and what steps have you taken towards your goals since the beginning of the year? We always strive for certain goals but many people fail to perservere. It's about taking things one day at a time, and making consistent progress, rather than over exerting effort and stopping early. We also take a deep dive into how we have progressed thus far this year. We started our digital marketting agency in January, and now have a few clients under our belt! There is a ton of room for progress, but I am so happy with what we have accomplished, so we share on that journey as well. Thank you so much for your continued support and we hope you have a wonderful day! Recorded on an iPhone 12 Pro Max & iPhone 11.
Listen to this encouraging devotional; it will comfort, inspire and give you strength when facing daily struggles and challenges.
October 13, 2020Colossians Deep Dive (#25 in series) Have You Given Up on Prayer? These three elements will enrich your prayer life.Colossians 4:2 (NIV) 2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. Being Devoted - The Greek word for “devoted” means “to be steadfast” or “courageously persistent.” Being devoted or persistent means to keep at it, to not give up when it feels like praying is a waste of time. To not throw in the towel when it seems like God is not answering your prayer. To not stop when it keeps getting harder to find the time or the desire to pray, and it does get harder on occasion. Being Watchful - The NLT uses the words “with an alert mind.” Being alert means to be watching for things that you should be praying for. Are we doing that? Have you noticed things that are happening in the life of your fellow Christians that you can join them in prayer about? Now, not only are we to be alert for prayer concerns in others, but we are to also be watching for the arrows of temptation that are aimed at us. Being Thankful - We need to be thankful for all of the many times that God hears and answers our prayers. It is good for us to say “thank you.”

What happens when it seems like God is not answering your prayer? What happens when it seems like the opposite of your prayer is happening? Keep praying. Jesus experienced a delayed response from God. That delayed response led to Jesus being the source of Eternal Life because he resurrected from the grave. Hebrews 5:7-10
