À l'occasion du 90e anniversaire de Radio Prague International, nous avons eu l'honneur de recevoir en studio Alena Gebertová et Václav Richter. Tous deux connaissent la station mieux que personne : ils y ont travaillé pendant près d'un demi-siècle et continuent encore aujourd'hui à intervenir régulièrement sur notre antenne. Nous leur avons demandé de revenir sur leurs plus beaux souvenirs, mais aussi sur les moments les plus difficiles vécus à la radio, sous le régime communiste et lors des bouleversements de 1989.

Ninety years ago, a broadcast first went on air from Prague's Strašnice district with a single mission: to make heard the voice of Czechoslovakia, a small country in the heart of Europe.  Radio Prague International was not created as a pastime, but as a strategic weapon against Nazi propaganda. Through the crackle of the airwaves, presidents, ordinary people and visionaries spoke to listeners abroad. This is the story of courage behind the microphone that began in 1936 and had to withstand attacks, lies, and the fateful Munich Agreement. Chaque jour, un million et demi d'auditeurs écoutent les stations de la Radio tchèque, dont Radio Prague International, qui diffuse des émissions en langues étrangères depuis quatre-vingt-dix ans. La station Radio Prague a été créée en 1936 afin de contrer la propagande nazie hostile à la Tchécoslovaquie démocratique. Après février 1948, elle s'est elle-même transformée en instrument de propagande communiste. Ce n'est qu'après la révolution de Velours qu'elle a pu redevenir la voix d'un pays libre et démocratique, la Tchéquie. Nocturnal tourism is supposedly one of the big travel trends of 2025, and from star-gazing to truffle-hunting, there are plenty of places in Europe to do it. But where is this craving for darkness coming from? This week we speak to Anna Levin, author of two beautiful books about the impact of artificial light on the world around us, about why Europe's night skies deserve much better protection. We're also talking about the Baltic countries' move to cut their electrical cords with Russia, and the EU's attempt to tackle our cheap Chinese shopping addiction.    Anna is the author of 'Incandescent' and 'Dark Skies'.
