In this Coach's Corner episode, fellow McKirdy Trained coach, and professional runner, John Raneri and I take a deep dive into what those runners can do to set themselves up for success, happiness, and optimum health during the remainder of 2021. Part 4 of Gabrielle's Mafia story is all about her finding out what Peter Raneri was up to before she met him. She tells about Peter and his first wife Margie's neighborhoodItalian Family restaurant in Smithtown, New York. They had 2 sons Frankie and Peter. She shares that Peter Raneri's Dad Frank Raneri was a part of making moonshine at Patsy's in Manhattan in the 1940's.Peter's restaurant became hugely successful and he became a local celebrity getting a lot of attention appearing on radio and TV shows as the 5 star Chef he was. He was a huge personality. Because of the huge success of the small restaurant they built a big Raneri's restaurant on Jericho turnpike in Smithtown - wildly popular the Jackson 5, The Commodores and the 4 Tops, just to mention a few used to perform there.Gabrielle tells funny stories about Peter's pranks he used to pull in the restaurant. While his wife Margie worked tirelessly at the restaurant Peter, who was a life long Gigolo started an affair with the new hostess Lisa who became his second wife and they had his 3rd son Michael. Larry Iorizzo who was Peter's best friend used to have a running tab at the restaurant and he always paid it. Once Larry got involved with Michael Franzese Peter used to keep the restaurant open all night long so all the Mafia guys could hold all their meetings there.Michael told Larry to no longer pay the tabs which in the end started draining the restaurant. Peter used to work ungodly hours, many nights sleeping at the restaurant. Larry told him to stop killing himself and come to work with them to have an easier life. After all they were making millions of dollars weekly. Gabrielle reads a Newsday paper article about SBA loans that were made out to Raneri's restaurant. Michael Franzese was linked to many SBA loans to small businesses. It is extremely interesting with details about a murder at the restaurant. The restaurant received a blizzard of publicity because they found a body with a document signed by Peter Raneri. We read about all the pressure that was put on Peter Raneri by law enforcement and he was threatened that he would be charged with killing Ladenhauf. ........... to be continuedParty with Miss Polly:Is grinding cheating?Question of the Day:Significant Other of 5 months invites you on an all expenses paid family trip to a weekend getaway. We jump right into Part 2 Continuation of Gabrielle's Mafia Story. We find out when she first met Peter Raneri, New York Colombo Mafia Crime FamilyAssociate, in September 1984. He would soon become her husband. They met in a bar in Vienna Austria. Gabrielle talks about feeling like Julia Roberts in Pretty Women, except she was no escort. But the way Peter showered her with flowers and gifts and attention definitely intrigued her. Especially after her ex oil sheikh boyfriend became a threat and Peter stepped right in and swept her off her feet. Gabrielle kept hearing about Peter's best friends, Larry, Michael and Sunny. She had no idea at the time that they were Mob Bosses, Sunny Franzese, Michael Franzese and Lawrence Salvatore Iorizzo. Larry Iorizzo had chartered a 747 plane to fly the entire wedding party, including friends and family from New York to Vienna for his oldest daughter Carol's wedding. Gabrielle kept wondering what they did for business since she had never seen anyone live this kind of lifestyle and she was always told they did Import/Export.Being young and naive she believed every word. Peter proposed one month after meeting Gabrielle and she said yes. From one day to the next things started getting very tense and stressful and Gabrielle had no idea what was going on and was always told not to worry.Larry's daughters wedding was called off, the 747 cancelled. Peter was on the phone with Sunny and Michael non stop. Gabrielle then shares about Larry Iorizzo's arrest in Panama, how he was kidnapped at gunpoint. Michael Franzese threatening to kill his son Larry jun if Larry sr. didn't do the right thing. Larry Iorizzo and their clan were very friendly with President Manuel Noriega and they had lived a life of luxury, owning yachts, jet planes and cleared millions of dollars weekly. Gabrielle tells about Peter's successful restaurants Raneri's in Smithtown New York and how that led Peter into the Mafia lifestyle himself, after the restaurants became a Mob hangout. After Larry got kidnapped he was put on a plane to Miami and arrived into the welcoming arms of FBI agents. Everything started to unravel - Gabrielle literally met Peter weeks before all this started happening. Peter told Gabrielle that he had to go to America for 2 months and talked her into coming with him. Gabrielle thought - Anyone can do anything for 2 months ....................TO BE CONTINUED Party with Miss Polly:What does the term "SUPERMAN" mean?Question of the Day:If your exes Mom unfollows you on Social Media would you unfollow them back?
Lies, Cheating, Betrayal and Heartbreak for our family when Gino's ex girlfriend decided to move to Florida and the way we all found out the truth. Here is the way Gabrielle, Gino and Marcella experienced it, since lots of you have asked what in the world happened? Gabrielle is first and shares her own heartbreak and disappointment that Whitley chose to lie and walk away the way she did.At the same time she wishes no ill will on her and only hopes that she is happy. Gino talks in detail about the betrayal that he felt, how it started, how he felt taken advantage of and the heartbreak he experienced when he put the puzzle together and realized that she cheated. Especially since she plastered his apartment with paintings and love notes all over the week before she moved just making sure she had a place to come back to in case the new boyfriend didn't work out. Gino says he has learned a lot from all this and has had a great time being single and dating. He just recently has met a special girl that he likes a whole lot. Marcella says that she thinks Whitley wanted to be in the party life style but couldn't do that with Gino because he is not a party guy and heavy drinker. Marcella is sad to watch Whitley today in her new life because she feels that the party scene gets old after a while and she thinks that Whitley does none of the things she was passionate about while she was with Gino. She definitely doesn't approve of lying and cheating and felt bad for Gino at the time but thinks he is better off today but also doesn't wish anything bad for Whitley. Party with Miss Polly:If you are dating a doctor and he insists on giving you a pelvic exam to check for STD's before sex - would you be offended?Question of the Day:Is it possible to go back to being friends with an ex hook up who broke your heart if both are now casually hooking up with others?
For John Raneri, 2019, including the first few weeks of January, was a banner year. A PR in every distance from the mile to the marathon that culminated with one of the best half marathons in U.S. history. John arrived at the Aramco Houston Half Marathon with a plan to compete and break 62 minutes - and he did just that. John clocked a 1:01:51 to finish as the 11th American. Not only that, his performance as good for 34th all-time. After that performance John decided to pass on the Olympic Marathon Trials and put all of his eggs in the Boston Marathon basket. Then COVID-19 turned those plans to dust. John quickly pivoted and setup a string of solo and competitive time trials. The last of which was as ambitious as they come - a treadmill half-marathon world record attempt. In this episode John details his wild spring and the steps he took to run 1:03:09 on a treadmill to set the world record by just under a minute. We had elite runner and coach, John Raneri, who just recently broke the record for the fastest treadmill half marathon, on the podcast to chat with us about his story. I met John a couple of years ago and we've had hours of conversations about goal setting, over-coming adversities, and shifting exceptions to the given climate. John is truly one of the most humble and genuine individuals I know and a great friend. He's always working on his mindset and it shows in his results.
The Too Posh Team is super excited that Patrick Gilmore, husband of Gabrielle of 16 years and together 18 years, and Marcella's step Dad finally makes it on the show after 1 1/2 years. Patrick is the reason why the Too Posh Podcast exists and we talk about how it started and he basically forced us to do it. Then he tells us where he grew up and that he was the black sheep of his family. They had no money and he didn't have many opportunities. One afternoon after watching Navy Seals he got off the couch and joined the military. He was in the Army for 3 years. He tells about basic training and of his time being stationed in Hawaii for 3 years. He was very fortunate to not have to experience combat. He does tell us about a crazy story involving a ship with 550 Chinese nationalists where a coast guard got killed. We learn about what he likes and dislikes about having been in the Army.Everyone always ask us how Patrick and Gabrielle met and here is all the insights you could ever want. It is a fun, crazy, interesting story that is not your everyday love story. You will hear all about the first moment meeting at Cool River in Las Colinas, Texas and the days after which involve Gabrielle's Mafia husband, who she was still married to at the time. They were officially separated and technically single, however he did not take it well at all being confronted with the reality of Gabrielle meeting another man. Patrick's and Peter's first encounter the day after Patrick met Gabrielle at their Italian Restaurant, Raneri's in Valley Ranch, Texas is a very interesting one. As Gabrielle kept dating Patrick Peter went completely psycho and threatened to kill them, chop them up, feed them to the sharks - they were followed - it was absolutely insane. We hear Marcella's view on all this and Bernie cannot believe that this story is real. PARTY WITH MISS POLLY: Is it true that having multiple sex partners or having too much sex turns your vagina into roast beef?QUESTION OF THE DAY:Your significant other doesn't text you on nights that they go out - red flag or deal breaker?
What a year and a half it’s been for John Raneri. A PR in every distance from the mile to the marathon that he recently topped-off with one of the best half marathons in U.S. history. John arrived at the Aramco Houston Half Marathon with a plan to compete and break 62 minutes - and he did just that. The results of the race were incredible. 29 men overall, and 14 American men, dipped under 62 minutes. John clocked a 1:01:51 to finish as the 11th American. Not only that, his performance as good for 34th all-time. John also makes a big, and surprise, announcement about his spring plans. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
We had the opportunity to interview Anthony Raneri of Bayside! For the past 20 years, the Queens-based, BAYSIDE, has represented a lifestyle, a counterculture, and a deeply held conviction, diverse in thought and background but united by a shared desire for authentic expression. At their core, BAYSIDE is a band that has constantly proved that music is not about gimmicks and ephemeral trends, but a timeless reflection of our lives and our times. It is through this timelessness and consistency that BAYSIDE continues to cultivate a cult-following that lives and breathes everything the band creates. After 2018’s hugely-successful melody/arrangement-driven, acoustic album and tour, Acoustic Volume 2, BAYSIDE explored what a BAYSIDE song could be. These weren’t “stripped down” versions of BAYSIDE songs so much as they are completely new discoveries, refashioned and broadened by possibility. The shows were not “quieter” or “mellow” affairs, but raucous sing-alongs that stretched the bands’ musicianship and vocal chords and invigorated the band as they headed the studio to record their eighth studio full-length, Interrobang.Interrobang is a punctuation mark that combines an exclamation and a question mark. For Anthony Raneri, BAYSIDE’s frontman/lead vocals/guitar, the title represents the feelings the album invokes from the listener. “We wanted the record to feel exciting and new, but also sound like a natural progression for the band,” Raneri explains, “We just wanted to keep the listener on their toes - there is a ton of information being thrown out - and if you want to take it all in - you can’t stop paying attention for a second.” The result is the heaviest rock album of the band’s career juxtaposed with the most catchy, melodic hooks the band’s ever created. On the title track, “Interrobang,” Raneri along with lead guitarist Jack O’Shea, bassist Nick Ghanbarian, and drummer Chris Guglielmo focused on opening the album with a song that was equal parts exciting/fun and wild/unpredictable. “It has always been important to us to sound like Bayside, but always shake it up with each record. We tried to think outside the box and take things further, Raneri adds. With big echo-y rock drums and a classically haunting guitar solo, the song spins the listener in a few different directions, while planting its feet firmly with Raneri’s smooth vocals. Working with acclaimed producer, Cameron Webb (NOFX, Motorhead, Alkaline Trio), BAYSIDE embraced the eclectic resume of Webb and pushed the boundaries of what a Bayside song could sound like. “Cameron (Webb) has worked with a really wide range of artists, from NOFX and Lagwagon to Kelly Clarkson to Motorhead and Megadeth,” Raneri shared, “We thought it would be perfect to work with (him) because we see ourselves as sitting somewhere in between all of those artists.”BAYSIDE has always focused on creating songs that are relevant to people who want substance, rather than being relegated to one genre. With Interrobang, the band has put together an eclectic, inspiring, and bold collection of songs. Raneri shares, “Love it or hate it, we wanted the record to invoke something in people. We said with this record we either wanted to create something great or fall on our faces. Negative or positive, we just didn’t want the record to be ‘fine.’” While many bands would coast on their past success, BAYSIDE rejects the premise and proves with Interrobang, that the best is yet to come.https://www.baysidebayside.com/We want to hear from you! It’s been a long road for John Raneri to realize his potential in the marathon. At the TCS NYC Marathon John did just that. 2:14:13, 15th Place overall, and 5th American. This huge performance was matched only by his excitement to finally get the marathon monkey off of his back. In this episode, we take a look at how his training evolved this year, busting through mid-race negative thoughts, and how he worked with other runners to make this his best race. Bayside has long existed in rarified air. The band overcame the 2000s emo movement, as well as numerous challenges in their personal lives while continuing to write songs that told their unbridled truth. With 'Interrobang,' the group takes us further into their realities, which is what vocalist Anthony Raneri does on today's podcast. While chatting with host James Shotwell, Raneri dives into the changes in the music business that influenced Bayside's approach to releasing their latest record. Raneri also speaks of how the band has changed over the year while keeping the core of their sound, not to mention their songwriting the same. Interrobang is available now through Hopeless Records.

“ALWAYS AND FOREVER”The last episode of Season 1 – everyone is super disappointed that there were not more episodes because everyone loved the show so much. The show starts with a recap of all dance competitions and Justin says that with success comes baggage. Then there are all the Marcella scenes recaps. We see Kiana very worried if she will make the team. Then there are the recaps of all Justin family scenes with his sisters.Justin announces the Alyssa Edwards ONE WOMAN SHOW.He has to prepare for that and also for the Winter Show, which is kind of like a recital – a show for friends and family for the Beyond Belief Dance Studio.Justin says that Winter Show is the real competition because it is internal. The kids are competing against each other. He then announces that the Elite Teams will be smaller next season, which puts extra stress on the Moms.Justin is so happy that there has been so much positive progress with his sisters and his dream is that they will come to his one woman show to watch him perform.Dance Mom Gina and Justin get into a huge fight. We discuss how hard it is on a parent to always accept the coaches decisions, because we want to protect our children.Dawn defends Justin and says that he is the kindest person and wants the best for everyone but when backed in a corner by Dance Moms he can have a wicked tongue.Justin is the bigger person and apologizes. We see the One Woman Show and Justin’s sisters are there cheering him on in the front row and it is so great to see their relationship repaired. Now Justin says he has to repair one more relationship and it is with Marcella. He says Marcella is a beautiful soul and she was going through a lot.We see Marcella drive up and bring lunch and Justin says that he really believes they make a great Duo just like it was intended from the beginning and if she wants to come back he would love to have her back.He said that he needs someone and she is such a big asset to him and that he will have her back and she needs to have his back.He tells her to sleep on it and to let him know.Everyone hopes for Season 2 and Gabrielle tries to find out from Marcella what decision she made but she refuses to tell us and says everyone will have to wait to find out.We see Winter Show where it is very stressful backstage, because everyone wants to make the team but there will be cuts.Gabrielle tells some behind the scenes from the Winter show.Next Seasons elite Company is announced except for the last spot.Justin says he is not ready to make that decision and then says he will have an open audition for it.We cannot even imagine how many people will show up for that.No one really knows what decision Justin will make. He might start over and nobody’s spot is guaranteed. Who knows.Alyssa with the popcorn is our favorite scene and the show and the first season ends with a tongue pop. To end our we read an article written by Decider Magazine about when there will be Season 2.
“REIGNING SUPREME”We talk about Justin praying a lot throughout the episodes and he prays with the kids and he is very spiritual. He talks about that he had a dream that one day he will see his name in lights. How right he is.Gabrielle gets teary and Marcella and Whitley say they have never seen her so teary so often as she is during Dancing Queen, but she explains that she gets emotional because it is so wonderful to see someone’s dream become reality right before your eyes. Then we watch Justin go into the recording studio to record his first original song.Marcella notes how Justin is so unbelievably confident and she wishes she had some of that. She says she would be so nervous, while Justin looks like he has done this his entire life.We talk about how funny it is when Justin calls Edgar for everything. Then we see the studio rehearsing to go to Arkansas. Then we see Justin getting ready for his trip to Spain and Edgar and Chris Sapphire are helping him pack. Chris puts on the humongous blonde wig and it makes him feel skinny. He says he never wants to do drag and we don’t understand why because we all think he is so pretty and would make a beautiful woman.Upon arriving in Barcelona Justin is super sleep deprived, but he believes that you don’t just “DREAM IT, JUST BE IT” and that means the show must go on without sleep. There are 1000’s of people lined up and so excited to meet Alyssa. Her performance is unbelievable and after getting off the stage the adrenaline rush is real and Alyssa says“I DID THAT – A LITTLE GAY BOY FROM MESQUITE TEXAS, I DID THAT”.Of course this makes Gabrielle all teary again.Back in Mesquite Justin is standing in his bathroom, elated, exhausted and excited saying a quiet prayer. We see his sister Tiffany calling him to congratulate him on his new song and we can tell that makes him super happy. The Dance Mom’s and kids are getting ready to go on the bus to Arkansas and nobody can fit their stuff and Justin shakes his head and wonders why everything has to be a cluster fuck whenever they do anything. Then the scenes inside the bus which turned into a party bus and everyone was having a blast.Justin tells that even though so many amazing things are happening in his life and career he feels like he is just getting started.By writing in his journal he has learned a lot and he is very, very, very forgiving. Then we all talk about dance competitions and how exhausting those weekends are.We talk about the Barbie Box prop falling apart and the Moms fixing it with one of their shoes.Justin announces that BEYOND BELIEF IS IN THE HOUSE. He is then seen being very encouraging to the kids before they go on stage. We see the competition and we are super excited when we spot glimpses of some of the costumes that Whitley made when Marcella owned Prestige Dance and Molly and Kennedy are wearing them on stage during their performances. She is so talented and to see her creations on world wide TV made all of us very proud.Leah’s Solo was breathtaking as was Willow’s very last performance on the competition stage which is always such an emotional moment. We see Ainsley with her Barbie Box and then beautiful Kiana who performs her solo exceptionally great.Marcella talks about that being told NO makes you more resilient and teaches you life lessons, especially in the dance industry where you hear lots of “NO” all the time. The episode ends with Justin announcing “WE CAME, YOU SAW, WE CONQUERED”
This episode starts with Justin announcing that Marcella quit and we see another glimpse of her crying.Dawn has to take over and cover for Marcella and she stays very positive.Everyone is preparing for https://dancecelebrity.com/ . This convention only allows 8 dancers to perform their solos.Justin picks the 8 Soloists and tells Kiana that she is not going because of her Solo not looking good in LA. Anjie, Kiana’s Mom gets mad and rolls her eyes and Justin is not having it and Anjie immediately apologizes.Kiana says she feels punished.Anjie and Kiana are in tears and decide to take Kiana’s solo to the convention as an independent entry.Anjie gets very emotional because she says Kiana never asks for anything and gets the least attention in the family, because of her 2 siblings with disabilities and she really wants to do this for her. Then we see https://www.laganjaestranja.com and Alyssa having a blast at a wig store and they break out dancing to one of Ru Paul songs. Kiana’s solo was amazing and Justin says that what she did was very Alyssa Edwards of her. Episode 6 – “Dragsgiving”We see the kids getting ready to perform with Alyssa at the Rose Room Theatre in Dallas and we get to see Athena again. She is so precious. The kids perform with Alyssa to her original song and the cameras zoom in on Athena at the endof the performance and we cannot handle her cuteness.Justin says that he learned from his mentor Ru Paul that drag is now Main Stream and it is a very special moment for Justin to be able to combine his 2 worlds and perform in drag on the same stage with the kids.Whitley and Gabrielle announce that they want to get dressed in drag and have Haus of Edwards cutie Dillon Del Toro do their Make Up. Marcella just wants him to do her Make up.The kids and Justin are preparing for https://www.showbiztalent.com/ and they are rehearsing a brand new group dance. Marcella tells Justin that the Mom’s just don’t like her and refuse to give her a chance.Justin wants so badly for Marcella to feel like Beyond Belief is her home – Gabrielle tells that these scenes made her cry.Drum Roll – the big Halloween Bash – all the Mom’s talking about Marcella’s dressWe see little adorable JJ dress like AlyssaThe big Alyssa Edwards entrance that turns into the next Music Video to Justin’s original song “I am Alyssa Edwards”We see the SR Team go to LA and we see them compete but Episode 3 cuts away before we hear the announcement of the awards Episode 4 ” Alyssa’s Secrets”THE MOST EMOTIONAL SHOW EVER – Gabrielle never even cries but cried several times in this episode – what an emotional tearjerker. The show starts with the LA awards where Riley takes 2nd in the Teen category, and Molly gets 3rd, Gabe 2nd and Willow gets 1st.Then they show the group competitionBack in Mesquite we see Marcella still getting extreme push back from the Mini Mom’s which makes Marcella decide to just not deal with them at all. They kept trying to push her buttons. Justin talks about how he has always wanted a close family and since his family fell apart he created his own families.Beyond Belief – Family of ChampionsHaus of Edwards – Drag FamilyBlood Family – it’s complicatedAfter his Mom passed away in 2014 Justin realized that he cannot undo the past but he can rewrite the chapter of the futureJustin goes to lunch with Tabi his sisterBack at the studio Kelly is rude to Marcella and undermines her abilities as a teacher and choreographer.Justin and his sister Tiffany are finally together and this scene is one of the most emotional of the whole series so far. There is no dry eye in the house. They decided to put their hatred behind them and they want to go visit their Mom’s grave together. Group meeting with Marcella and the Mini Mom’s leaves Marcella in a puddle of tears.Marcella ends up saying she cannot do this any longer.Justin says that for the first time he realizes that there is so much hurt and pain that Marcella is not in a place where she should teach and that she needs time to heal first. We devote this show to all things leading up to the Premiere of the Netflix Hit Show Dancing Queen. Our very own Marcella Raneri is a cast member on the show. She is the assistant director for Beyond Belief Dance Company. We talk about how there was a time we didn’t think that the show would really be released, because the release date kept being pushed back over and over again. When the first trailer was released a huge buzz surrounded it and it was the most watched trailer of all of Netflix’s unscripted trailers in all of Netflix history andthe second most watched trailer only behind “Stranger Things”.We are so excited to see all the episodes because the reviews that have come in so far are fantastic. We are planning on having our own Dancing Queen Watch what happens Live Podcast episodes where we will invite the cast members of the show to discuss all the behind the scenes fun.Marcella shares how difficult it has been for her through the years and people have the wrong idea about her, because she is a sexy bikini and lingerie model, besides being a very accomplished danceteacher and choreographer. She is an amazing role model to all her students.Marcella tells us how she met Justin Johnson, aka Alyssa Edwards and the star of the show. She tells us how excited she was to join Beyond Belief Dance Company and expected to be accepted. You must watch the episodes to find out how that turned out.Marcella shares that she was going through a really hard time in her life during all of filming for this show and how emotionally fragile she was.She had to struggle to keep it together. We ask how much of what we are going to see is really real? or if it is all scripted on Dancing Queen. We talk about how unreal it feels that this show will be shown in 190 countries and we are seeing Marcella’s blonde moments rear their head which always makes us laugh. We then talk about the successful RuPaul’s Drag Con New York and how Alyssa Edwards booth was the most popular and people were waiting for 6 hours and more just to meet her.
In this part 2 episode of when we got stood up by one of our models, Marcella shares her major epiphany she had about being a dance teacher whose heart was broken and thought she never wanted to teach again. It only took 2 nights of being a bar tender to make her realize that she loves being a dance teacher and choreographer after all. Whitley and Marcella discuss what it means for others to have to deal with their artistic personalities. Then Marcella and Whitley give Gabrielle a really hard time because she worries way too much all the time. We discuss all new teen challenges that are going around on the Internet to warn parents and make everyone aware. Then we talk a little bit about how people obsess to portray perfection on social media. We end the show with a recap of our shows so far and updates of our former guests, Miss Polly, Thommy, Valerie, Nicolette, Amber, Kayla and Detective Gomez and we give a preview of all our upcoming guests.
Marcella is proud to say that she is a survivor of 2 abusive relationships and wants to help all women. In this episode Marcella shows incredible bravery as she shares her riveting story about the second time she fell into the grips of an abuser. It is her #metoo story. This relationship sadly lasted 4 years and when you hear her story, you will laugh and cry and just be left in complete disbelief by the sheer horror of it all. This abuser hailed himself the “King of Dallas”. In reality he was an evil monster that was fueled by severe drug, alcohol and steroid abuse.Marcella’s intention of sharing her story in such detail is to warn all young girls and women of all ages to recognize the red flags and run before it is too late. During the entire interview Marcella still showed signs of severe PTSD as she clinched her hands and arms the whole time. This is 7 years later and the impact these abusers have are devastating and last a lifetime.Marcella vividly describes the traumatic, outrageous, abusive lifestyle with her monster ex boyfriend in the Dallas Party Scene that included non stop cheating, alcohol, drug, steroid abuse, porn addiction and so much more. She talks about how she was always crying, and completely lost herself, and how he almost destroyed her as a person.Marcella discusses the last time he called her awful curse words and yelled at her and she snapped. She thought he would kill her in that moment. She also discusses the slow healing process and she remembers her dance students being a huge reason for keeping her sane and she choreographed a dance to Katy Perry’s song “By the grace of God”. Please watch this beautiful piece. Marcella designed the gorgeous costumes and Whitley created them. This is dedicated to all the abuse victims and survivors of domestic violence.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sewgaiYIzhs
Marcella and Gabrielle share the very emotional story about Marcella’s first abusive boyfriend at age 18. They discuss how abusers are always so charming and the abuse starts slow, only to escalate to severe violence. They are sharing this story to make people aware of the early red flags and warning signs, in the hopes of saving others. They talk about how a situation like theirs, where a family member is involved in an abusive relationship changes the entire family dynamic and how their family became a battlefield. Gabrielle gives her very strong opinion on how to execute “TOUGH LOVE” with a twist on a teenage or adult child . She swears her way is what saved her daughter and how the family got her back and how their relationship stayed intact.Marcella talks in detail about when the boyfriend kidnapped her and she feared he was going to kill her in the woods and how she got rescued by the police
Valerie Wilhelm continues her brave and powerful testimony of her life and talks about her husbands funeral and how family turned against her and how she got blamed for his death. This leads to Marcella sharing the incredibly sad and painful story of how she found her Dad dead and about how her and her brother Gino got betrayed by their older brothers and left out of their Dad’s funeral and how they are still searching for closure. On this episode we discuss the sad reality that Valerie and her children who were Jeff’s third family got blamed by his oldest children for his death and are now estranged and in probate court fighting over all kinds of private things that we do not want to publicly share.Marcella gives her brave testimony of being the only daughter in a New York Mafia family who is supposed to be protected and cared for by her older brothers, but instead ends up being blamed for their Dad’s death, even though not one of them ever stepped up to help. The stories of Valerie and Jeff and Marcella and Gino’s Dad brings to the forefront of how important it is that everyone should try their hardest to get along after a parent passes away, because there are stories to be told, so everyone can heal. And everyone can become a survivor and not a victim. Here is the link to the dance that Marcella choreographed in memory of her Dad after his passing.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6yZfVDhgAs
On this episode of INSIDE MUSIC, host James Shotwell calls Anthony Raneri of Bayside to discuss his band's new album, Vacancy, which arrives in stores on August 19 through Hopeless Records. This conversation was recorded back in June before Anthony had done much press for the new record, but because James had already heard the album by that point the two were able to discuss it at length without covering much, if any, material that you've seen mentioned in other interviews Raneri may have done since that time. This conversation covers love, marriage, the end of relationships, and the way art helps us through our worst moments. If you have the finances, please make it a point to support Vacancy when it arrives in stores later this month.
This week on Episode 61 of Bobby Pickles' Podcast (6th Installment of Dying Scene Radio), Bob speaks solo with WRATHS/Pennywise/The Black Pacific frontman Jim Lindberg; and Bob and Bobby make an international call to Athens, Greece to speak with BAND SPOTLIGHT: Fold The Nuts. Bob reveals his narcissistic nature by humbly letting everybody know his day of birth, the two Bobs notice striking similarities amongst long tenured bands performing classic albums in their entirety (i.e. Face To Face’s “Triple Crown” series and Bad Religion’s “Battle of the Centuries”) and Bob invites all of the listeners to make a Wikipedia page for DyingScene.com and the DS radio show, respectively. BAND SPOTLIGHT: FOLD THE NUTS Bob manages to offend Greek punk rockers - Fold The Nuts - not once, but twice during their brief conversation, then he attempts to win back their favor by revealing that he sometimes gasses up his car in Tarpon Springs, FL - which has the highest percentage of Greek Americans of any city in the US. The two Bobs use their sleuthy nature to figure out the true meaning behind the band’s name, then Bobby requests that Bob be more zany. Bob makes an ill attempt to correct Bobby on his pronunciation of Bayside frontman Anthony Raneri’s last name, while the guys use character voices to describe Raneri’s statement regarding Bayside’s recently released lyric video for their new single, “Dancing Like An Idiot”. Bob speaks with Jim Lindberg and then debuts a new track from WRATHS. After admitting that he didn't actually read Jim's best-selling book, "Punk Rock Dad", Bob practices "radical honesty" to clear his name and throws out a quick disclaimer that he has actually purchased the book online after reading the 30 page teaser on his Kindle. Noxious and Lindberg discover that they are “kindred spirits” when they compare their long list of obvious parallels - specifically, their knack for keeping a healthy band-life balance while each having three daughters.
