I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.1CO.14:16 Else when thou shalt bless with the spirit, how shall he that occupieth the room of the unlearned say Amen at thy giving of thanks, seeing he understandeth not what thou sayest?1CO.14:17 For thou verily givest thanks well, but the other is not edified.1CO.14:18 I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:1CO.14:19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.1CO.14:20 Brethren, be not children in understanding: howbeit in malice be ye children, but in understanding be men.1CO.14:21 In the law it is written, With men of other tongues and other lips will I speak unto this people; and yet for all that will they not hear me, saith the LORD.1CO.14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.1CO.14:23 If therefore the whole church be come together into one place, and all speak with tongues, and there come in those that are unlearned, or unbelievers, will they not say that ye are mad?1CO.14:24 But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all:1CO.14:25 And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.1CO.14:26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.1CO.14:27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.1CO.14:28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.1CO.14:29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.1CO.14:30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.1CO.14:31 For ye may all prophesy one by one, that all may learn, and all may be comforted.1CO.14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.1CO.14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.1CO.14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.1CO.14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.1CO.14:36 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?1CO.14:37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord.1CO.14:38 But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant.1CO.14:39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.1CO.14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order.

église AB Lausanne ; KJV 1 Samuel (1 Kings) 2 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation. There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God. Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the LORD is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed. The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength. They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble. The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and he hath set the world upon them. He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed. ...

Before we begin, I want to ask a special prayer on behalf of the James family on the loss of their mother, my aunt Mary. I ask that God give them comfort and peace in this moment.   There is nothing more beautiful to behold than to witness, first-hand, the embodiment of God's grace and mercy. Someone that takes hold of the unbelievable nature of these two attributes. Mary Evelyn James was such. One who made a difference and touched the lives of so many, no matter where she was. As a passerby you would not recognize her in a crowded room, as her unassuming nature, and her quiet and humble disposition made her one of very few words. Most importantly she was one of few idle words, meaningless chit-chat that yielded few results. She is one whose life was full of God's presence. God has called us to be emissaries to the world, examples of Christ, reflective of both the life he lived, and the bountiful nature of his unfailing word. Unselfish, and bathed in wisdom she gave, that others might receive the abundance of God's gift, “eternal life.”     Today's Podcast is titled.   Aunt Mary 1 Corinthians 13:4-7,13   4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.  13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.   It is not often, and exceedingly rare, that you find someone that lays bare the qualities of a quiet and gentle spirit, and if by chance it was so, it is only for a season. That was not the rationale for my Aunt Mary, her life was seasoned with grace, mercy, and kindness.   Matthew 5:13-16   13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/david66634/message

In this double episode, Daniel and Fili discuss some of the most relatable stories of the Old Testament. Ruth remains with Naomi and converts to her faith, Hannah prays for a son to devote to the Lord, Samuel is called to fill the role of Prophet, Saul is made king and then lets his pride get the better or him, and David, the young shepherd, slays Goliath and becomes King of Israel. The many lessons from these stories are discussed and related to our lives.

From Come Follow Me:Sometimes we imagine that our lives should follow a clear path from beginning to end. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line, after all. And yet life is often full of delays and detours that take us in unexpected directions. We may find that our lives are quite different from what we thought they should be.Ruth and Hannah surely understood this. Ruth was not an Israelite, but she married one, and when her husband died, she had a choice to make. Would she return to her family and her old, familiar life, or would she embrace the Israelite faith and a new home with her mother-in-law? (see Ruth 1:4–18). Hannah's plan for her life was to bear children, and her inability to do so left her “in bitterness of soul” (see 1 Samuel 1:1–10). As you read about Ruth and Hannah, consider the faith they must have had to put their lives in the Lord's hands and travel their unexpected paths. Then you might think about your own journey. It will look different from Ruth's and Hannah's—and anyone else's. But throughout the trials and surprises between here and your eternal destination, you can learn to say with Hannah, “My heart rejoiceth in the Lord” (1 Samuel 2:1). #oldtestament #ruth #boaz #comefollowme #faithinchrist #faithSupport the show

June 6–12 Ruth is a happy interlude in these chapters. It's not a story of a prophet, a war, or a dramatic intervention by the Lord. It's a family story, a private story in some ways, but it's the family story of the family of the Savior. Additionally, we discuss the story of Hannah and her faithful commitment to give up her son--the son she waited so long for--to the service of the Lord.

In this episode we discuss the contrasts of the worldly and biblical view of love for all mankind.  While there are some similarities, the biblical view takes us further than we're able to go on our own.  We need God's help to live and demonstrate a mature love that's in alignment with his Word.World View: Self-centered, temporal, measured, romanticized, emotional, sensual, reckless. Jesus Ministries, Joan Boney  ... When we understand God choose us and saved us without our being worthy of salvation, we are grateful to God.   But many church goers are not born again and they put themselves into the church group "by their own will."  When that happens they think by their own will power they chose God and they reason since they chose God other people can do the same.  They don't realize they are not of God but their own salvation is of themselves.   Jude vv. 17-19   But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;  How that they told you there should be mockers (copiers) in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.  These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.   These church goers are often hard, ridged, even mean toward those who are not church goers.   They lack charity.     Charity is born of our knowing that we didn't deserve salvation and that it was just by the will of God that we are born of HIS Spirit and are HIS children.   I Corinthians 13   1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Selfishness is the greatest single enemy of a relationship. Here are the verses mentioned in today's episode. Deuteronomy 6 : 5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. Mark 12 : 28-31 28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all? 29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Matthew 22 : 34-39 34 But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. 35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. John 15 : 9-17 9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. 10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. 11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. 12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. 15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. 16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. 17 These things I command you, that ye love one another. John 13 : 34-35 34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. Philippians 2 : 3-4 3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. 4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. 1 Corinthians 13 : 4-7 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Bible verse for meditation:1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. KJV 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. What does this scripture mean to you? Has it had a different effect this reading as compared to times past? How does this scripture make you feel? Continue breathing deeply as you ponder this meaning. Meditation on scripture / bible verse meditation: Love is so much more than the single dimensional portrait we get around Valentine’s Day. The greatest love of all is the Love of God, also called Charity. The New Testament was written in Greek. For those familiar with the original texts there are 4 different words which translate into the English word Love. Philos - The love shared by brothers and sisters and the basis for the city of Philadelphia. Eros - Love between intimate romantic partners. Which is the basis for the word Erotic. Storge - the love of adults for their children. Agape - which is The greatest love is the Love of God. It is interesting that each of us experience such a wide range of love throughout our lives. As we celebrate love we can remain dedicated to living up to the model shown by Paul here in this scripture. As we work to improve in all the areas he has outlined such as patience, kindness and in overcoming anger. We can work to become more forgiving to free our hearts and open us to love in the future. We can work on improving the quality of every form of love that we feel. As we work to improve our experience with love, we will be more able to receive the Love of God. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling being patient for your own faults and trials. Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life: Details: Greatest number of downloads. Final Question: What type of Love can you work to improve? Final Thought: During this week consider all the forms of Love that are active in your life. Consider how you can improve these relationships and apply God’s wisdom in every relationships that you have. Something I admire about my wife is that she involves non-romantic loving relationships in her celebration of Valentine’s day. We should not allow romantic love to override other equally important aspects of love. Many times we can have one relationships fill many roles of love. For example my wife and I share friendship and romance. My hope is that for each one of us we can continually work with God to bring more love into our lives. May we remember the greatest expression of Love imaginable: Greater love hath no man than this, than Jesus who laid down his life for us, his friends. May we ever feel greater gratitude for this pure example of love, and may that inspire us to live a life more full of Love.   FIND ME ON: iTunes Facebook ChristianMeditationPodcast.com Youtube Twitter Pintrist

Fixer Upper Marriage
4 Things You Need to Replace in Your Love Life

Fixer Upper Marriage

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 7, 2019 34:15

When fixing up a house, there are many things that may need to be replaced or upgraded. The appliances may be worn out, the kitchen cabinets may be falling apart, or the garage door may be broken down. Also, your love could be filled with things that are worn out, falling apart, or broken down. Discover some of those "things" that need replacing in your marriage. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, endureth all things. I Corinthians 13:4-7 4 Things You Need to Replace in Your Love Life Identifying What to Replace in Your Fixer Upper 1. Replace Criticism with Appreciation. There are two types of criticism. Constructive criticism- This is given in a friendly and helpful way. It is usually asked for and builds the other person up. It is valuable because it promotes communication as well as personal growth. It gives you a chance to become a better person. Also, this type of criticism is unlikely to cause hurt feelings. The sandwich method of constructive criticism. This involves a compliment then a criticism followed by a compliment. As an example you can use the Word of God to constructively criticize yourself thereby making yourself a better follower of Christ. (See I Corinthians 11:31) Negative criticism or critique- A completely negative criticism that if used in marriage can tear down the other person. Many people criticize everything that their spouse does in a negative way. However, this does not meet the criteria of love in I Corinthians 13. Consider one of my favorite cartoon movies Ratatouille. In it a mouse named Remy who is an aspiring cook meets Linguine a restaurant trash boy. Together, they start cooking and must impress the famous food critic, Anton Ego, who is impossible to please! You can become like a "food critic" in your marriage where your spouse can seemly do nothing right. Criticism is blinding to anything good, it filters out anything good. Negative criticism can become dangerous to your marriage. It can ruin the love that you have for your spouse, causing you to fall out of love. If that is all you think about, it will recondition your mind and heart. Also, it can ruin the love that your spouse has for you, causing them to fall out of love with you. If harsh criticism is all they hear from you, it will make it hard for them to stay in love with you. Additionally, it can ruin your memories of the past and the ones you could make in the future. All of sudden, your past becomes negative and the bad starts to overrun the good in your marriage. If have also seen this happen in Church, where everything turns negative because of a few negative criticism. Replace your negative criticism with appreciation. Compare your love with I Corinthians 13 where we see words such as suffering long, is kind, not easily provoked, beareth all things, and endureth all things. Study to know your spouse. Learn about their worries, hopes, goals, and history.

LOVE GODS LOVE… LAW OF LOVETHE LAW OF LOVE, WHAT EVER YOU DO IT IN LOVE.The Children of God started during the Jesus movement. The core elements in the beginning was Jesus and giving people the message of Salvation. My parents for example joined because they found Jesus and he changed them, they couldn’t return to life as they knew it so they left their homes in order to follow Jesus, and this lead them into the communes of the ones that introduced them to Jesus. . A lot of people joined because they saw and felt the love of God in the people that were in the group, they were in a sense, ‘love bombed”. And this is what attracted them and kept them through the years. So the Family was founded on Jesus and telling others, we lived by the verse go into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. As our communes developed and people started marrying and having kids. This principle of the Law of Love from Jesus’ words.. became a corner stone for survival. We shared everything and learned to trust and work with one another.Verses..John 13:34 King James Version (KJV)34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.Through the years The Family evolved into a very work oriented group. Whether it was in witnessing, soul winning, teaching kids, fundraising, cleaning our large homes, provisioning, we lived off of a lot of donated goods. We had fun for the most part growing up surrounded by kids our own age, being home schooled and going out together in large groups. We were taught to be kind and loving from an early age, to share what we own with others kids. To consider each other first, Jesus, others, then you… We were also taught that Jesus could be coming back soon so that also pushed us to witness and bring as many as we could to an understanding of His love for them get them saved etc. But,,, mingled in the purity of bringing people to Christ, within the confines of our communities came then the sexual,.. how far can we take this love and to what extreme. And since it was a work oriented group that love merged into the physical playground to an excessive degree in some places. The sexual aspect of the LOL was introduced as just 1% of it. But it also went a bit far over the deep end. Yes, there was a lot of sleeping around going on and this resulted also in babies being born out of wedlock or people ending up together that should have never been together put together. term ‘Jesus babies’ developed. The ‘Jesus baby’ term was more for babies that were born to mothers from fathers that were outside of the group and this was at a rise during the time of FFing. This also was under the ‘Law of Love’ a wonderful thing. One thing I have noticed after leaving the group and talking with others who also were born and grew up is that we missed something very valuable growing up and this the core of this message.. Gods deep eternal Love, the Love of the Father, Who He is personally to us and how valuable you are as a human being. We were introduced more to an idea of a fragment of love and fed off of each others love. When you don’t know who you are in the core of your being and not taught right in the ways of truth, you experience do a lot of weird stuff. You also rely on others for moral support, and your physical needs being met and satisfied. We feed off of the inspiration and acknowledgement of others and when we loose that we experience depression which then leads us to addictions etc.I believe it takes an encounter to know this love for the first time, this changes everything. Suddenly you are awakened, you know how valuable you are as a human creation. That its not about what you do that makes Him love you, it’s the you that he created He knows you and this eternal being is the person that defines you, not the layers that the world labels and defines you as. Gods love is perfect and eternal. He can take the most difficult situations, the most devastating circumstances of life, the most horrible happenings and He can turn it around for good in your life if you let Him. There is nothing you have to do except let Him Love you. He is our Creator, He is the one that etched the beginning strands of our DNA together, the smallest cells in the human body. He created our Spirit, our innermost being, He wove our physical and spiritual together to give us Life. He knows everything there is to know about us. He perceives every movement of our heart and soul. He understands our thoughts. He is intimately aware of us. We can not hide in the darkness from Him. His love is completely all encompassing. There is no place in this world were you can ever escape to from the Love of God. He knows you. When you know that truth stay on that journey, He will bring you into deeper truths, You will discover the authority you have in Christ. You will start seeing miracles for the first time as you walk in this authority. You will see miracles coming from your hands as you pray for people. Its just endless, it’s an incredible journey and everything that is not of God will be shed. The ultimate goal is to get back to the Love of God, and experience it for yourself, on a deep level, once you do that for yourself by reading His Word the Bible, walk in the light of His truth, with a clean heart. He will redefine the patterns of your lifeLove is a wonderful powerful thing. Love is God. It is crafted from the burning fires of the heart of God, it is pure. It is the strongest force in the Universe He created the world through love, Jesus, came down to show us the Fathers Love. 1 John 4:7-10 King James Version (KJV)7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. The importance of love is laid out in 1st Chorinthians 13 because when Jesus came He came as a representation of the Love of God.13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. When you are full of the Lord His Virtues Wisdom, understanding, might you have a healthy fear of the Lord, you will not hurt or abuse the Law of Love. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.

1 Corinthians 13 Part 5, ending of the 1st Corinthians and certainly a hot chapter regarding love: what it is and what it is not. We often talk about 613 mitzvos (commandments) and how intense and high calling these mitzvos is, and perhaps the joy that we derive for it. However, there are even more! Look into these chapters http://ccat.sas.upenn.edu/nets/edition/ See for yourself, the amount of extra mitzvos and understand that these callings into the truth. Love / ahava / agape is not easy - at least not without the help of HaShem . We frequently box up the idea of love, and it becomes a thing heavily influenced by popular media, movies, TV, podcasts ;D , friends, and even family, but do we have these scriptural definitions down pack? If not, go back over these points of what a Agape is and isn’t through the link above, as well as listen over again to this podcast episode. 1 Corinthians 13 King James Version (KJV)13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity. I’ve attached some notes below to help with your learning. What AGAPE IS suffereth long * kind * rejoiceth in truth hopeth all things => steadfast during difficult times beareth all things * believeth all things => open mind/open heart --- thinking good of otghers endureth all things => w/o weakening What Agape IS NOT …. x9 envieth (be happy for others) vaunteth itself (talking about itself, pride ) puffed up behave unseemly * seeketh her own Rejoiceth in iniquity - people hurting others, or just doing things which aren't right (gluttony/going overboard with something like wine) never faileth --- grace to continue It's easy to love those who love us! faith (divine revelation) VS hope (in a future felicity) VS agape (perfections of God )--- WINNER? Do you really know what love is? We hear it all the time. “I’m in love,” “I’m not in love with him anymore.” “Love is in the air!” But what does this all really mean? Do we have the guts and the heart to find out? As we have a listen to 1 Corinthians 13 part 4, we can catch a glimpse at the answers to these questions. 1 Corinthians 13 King James Version (KJV) 13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. This is a continuation of episode 38. Feel free to listen to that one first then this one if you want continuity. Bible verse for meditation: 1 Corinthians 13:3-7 NIV 4 Love is patient, love is kind. Meditation on scripture / bible verse meditation: 1 Corinthians 13 is one of the most profound scriptures on love. In Episode 38 I covered the first three verses. We can’t be what we truly are meant to be if we don’t have love in our hearts. Love is the center of the two greatest commandments: loving God and loving each other. This scripture points out some important aspects of how to love and things that get in the of our love. It is easy to see the the connection between kindness and love. If we can learn to be kind with a heart open to love this is an important step in learning to love more deeply. As we love and attempt to love we inevitably experience difficulties and challenges. If we express patience we can overcome ourselves to draw near to each other and God. Pride and envy can turn our hearts away from even the desire to love. As we let go of these feelings we are more able to love. A concept that is falling out of fashion in today’s world is honor. With a Godly focus honor is a powerful aspect of a Christian walk. We can honor each other and those we love by being loyal and faithful to them. A Christian life is an honorable one. We can honor each other as children of God. Even as we feel wronged, we feel anger at real and perceived disrespect. And we don’t keep track of the faults of others. Above all our hearts rejoice in truth and reject evil. Rejoices in truth Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling being patient for your own faults and trials. Meditate and Visualize Positive Change in Your Life: Sue donated on Patreon and selected the scripture. Thanks Sue! Final Question: What principles do you hold to on the sabbath? Final thought - As we spend time with God’s spirit we feel his calm and peace. This is even more possible when we spend time to reflect on His word and dedicate time to Him. In this framework we can see the sabbath as the greatest gift of God. If we dedicate this day to worship and peace, it can help us draw nearer to him. Over the next couple days perhaps you can consider how you can better harness the sabbath in your worship to help you draw nearer to God. Consider things like avoiding unnecessary work, or causing others to work unnecessarily. Ultimately though, God loves us. He created the sabbath for us and not the other way around. We can be thoughtful on how best to benefit from this gift, by drawing nearer to Him. I know that as we do this we can be more sensitive to His spirit.
