This study emphasizes the importance of presenting our bodies as living sacrifices. We know that God is a spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. Our spirit man is designed to worship the Lord.   Living on Earth, we interact through our human bodies, which legally permit us to carry out transactions here. If who we are in spirit does not reflect in our bodies, we cannot reveal our true identity to humanity. Our mission is to reveal our identity to humanity. We cannot live a dual life—being born-again Christians in spirit and something else in our bodies is not possible. We are either of God or not of God. Therefore, the focus is on our bodies, and every born-again child of God should be concerned about how they live their life in their body.   Apostle Paul teaches us to glorify God in our bodies. This should be our desire as children of God. 1 Corinthians 6:20 (ISV) says, “because you were bought with a price therefore glorify God with your bodies.” The Bible in Basic English (BBE) says, “for a payment has been made for you…Let God be honored in your body.”   Honoring God in our bodies means giving God permission to be honored. It implies that we can choose whether or not to honor God in our bodies. God will not force us; He desires us to honor Him willingly. Malachi 1:6 illustrates this: “If I am a father, where is the honor due me?” Worship is about choosing to honor God in our bodies.   The King James Version (KJV) states, “for ye are bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body.” This is where we glorify God—people do not see spirits; they see human beings. We can only show how good God is through our physical expressions of His goodness. Every time we express God's goodness, we are worshiping the Lord. Glorifying God in our bodies means showing His goodness through our lives.   Romans 12:1-2 discusses the sanctification of the body and the soul. When born again, our spirit is one with God and perfect, but our soul must be taught the things of the Spirit and our body presented as a living offering to God. The spirit continuously worships, and when the soul aligns with the spirit, we become an incense. Our worship is incomplete without our bodies involved. This aspect of worship has been neglected in the church, leading to singing without essence. Worship is more than a feeling; it is the presentation of God through our bodies.   In worship, our body is killed on the altar of God's presence while our spirit remains alive in deep communion with God. Apostle Paul said, “I mortify my members” in God's presence, not in a party. Living in the consciousness of God's presence mortifies the flesh's dictates.   Contrary to the belief that old habits die hard, all habits die in God's presence. Habits that are not of God die, while those of God come alive. This call to worship is for every born-again child of God to take deliberate measures to become true worshippers.   Continuous fellowship with God causes undesirable things to die naturally. Communion brings the spirit life alive in the body, and the body life dies. To stop undesirable behaviors, focus on fellowship with God—study the Word, pray, enjoy God's presence, and stay in communion. As we fellowship with the Lord, we become living sacrifices, thus worshiping Him fully.   Jesus is Lord.

Henry Ogbuchi July 14th 2024 - The Samaritans Question 1: In John 4, Jesus Ministered to a Variety of people, name them? Answers:  The sinful Samaritan woman.  The many Samaritans who trusted in Him  His Own Disciples.  A nobleman and his household. Question 2: What did they have in common? Answer:  Faith in Jesus Christ. The Word – John 4:1-42 Mixed race – partly Jew and partly Gentile.  That grew out of the Assyrians captivity of the ten northern tribes in 727 BC.  Rejected by the Jews because they could not prove their genealogy.  Established their Alternate center for worship on Mount Gerizim (parallel to Jerusalem temple).  Believed the Jews were demonically possessed – Even accused Jesus to be a Samaritan (John 8:48).  Orthodox Jews avoided Samaria because there was a longstanding, deep seated hatred between them and the Samaritans. John 8:48 John 8:48 — King James Version (KJV 1900)m John 8:48 — New Living Translation (NLT) Four Stages of Experience Stage 1: He is “a Jew” (vs 7-10).  It's unusual for a Jewish man to even be in Samaria.  It was out of the ordinary that a man would be talking to an unknown woman in a public place.  This woman was a Samaritan, a member of a hated mixed race with track record of living in sin. No respectable Jewish would talk to a woman under these circumstances. But JESUS did Gospel is for everyone- irrespective of race, tribe, or social position. Jesus's LOVE towards the woman(us) rose above all the petty distractions of men. (John 4:16) Stage 2 “Greater than Jacob” (vs 11-15)  If he had something better, why asking for water gotten from Jacob's well. Salvation  The woman was ignorant of 3 important facts (Who He was, what He had to offer and how she could receive it) -Messiah/Christ  Jesus, fruitful vine by the spring (Jacob's well) that ran over the wall (of separation between the Jews and the Samaritans). Gen 49:22 Of course, Jesus is greater than Jacob – greater than the well itself. He provides the “breath” (spirit) of God (John 3:8; 20:22). He is the bread of life (John 6:48). He is the light of life (John 1:4-5). He gives us the water of life (John 7:37-39) Stage 3 “A Prophet” (vs 16-24)  Jesus pointed out the woman's sin in a loving manner: He praised her for telling the truth and revealed that He knew her sin.  Jesus progressively guided her with His words into a full revelation of who He is.  Jesus fruitful vine by the spring (Jacob's well) that ran over the wall (of separation between the Jews and the Samaritans). Gen49:22 Salvation is from the Jews because Jesus is born a Jew, as a descendant of David. (Jesus' Hebrew name, Yeshua, literally means “salvation”). Today our worship to/of God is not confined to a physical location. We can worship God anywhere, at any time because through faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit is inside us, and we have a true revelation of who God is.  Stage 4 “The Christ” (vs 25-30)  Knowing who “Messiah/Christ” is and that HE will come - IN SPITE OF HER IGNORANCE.  “When he does- and will reveal the secrets of the hearts (will teach ALL things.) -WHAT A GREAT CONFIDIENCE!  She was (Just as us) least likely prospect for salvation, Yet Christ used her to win almost an entire village. EFFECTIVE EVENGALISM The Samaritans - Lessons Learnt Never underestimate what can happen when you sincerely impact one person. Jerusalem -John 2:23 to Judea -John 3:22 then to Samaria -John 4:4 AND Samaritans declared Jesus as the “SAVIOR” of the world. ‘vs42 (Perfect Parallel to Act 1:8) The unnamed Samaritan woman was a fruitful believer: bore fruit (“many believed”), more fruit (“many more believed”), and much fruit today. The walk/walking is to be done in love: walk/conduct yourself/act in this way, and was a core concept for early Friends.  Verse 7              Greek: “sarx”: “flesh”; There were those who claimed that Christ had not come in the flesh, but only in the Spirit. In this kind of love, one doesn't wait for the other person to love, but instead, one should initiate the loving, open response.  The Greek word “teleios” translated as “perfect” in the King James Version (KJV) was correct for the English of that time, but has a very different meaning today, where it tends to be understood as completely  without any error. His faith and courage earned him the description of a "man of valor." Jephthah (Judges 11): Jephthah, another judge of Israel, is recognized for his valor in leading the Israelites to victory against the Ammonites. He made a solemn vow to God and, despite the personal cost, kept his promise, demonstrating his commitment and honor. In each of these cases, "men of valor" are individuals who exhibited exceptional qualities such as faith, courage, leadership, and a strong sense of honor. Fundamentals #21 The podcast draws from the three pages, “Gospel Truths”, in the appendix of Primitive Christianity Revived by William Penn. The first four (of thirteen) sections are read with comments. Section 1The “Scriptures of Truth”: an early Quaker name for the Bible. God exists, and is a “rewarder of all that fear [have reverential awe of] Him.” There are eternal rewards of happiness for all who obey and follow Him. Those who do not fear Him, shall be “turned into Hell” [Hades, Hebrew: Sheol, the place of the dead]. There are three kinds of fire in the New Testament: fire as light, purifying fire that separates the melted metal from the dross, and fire that obliterates completely so that essentially nothing is left. The last is frequently the word used to describe “hellfire”.  Section 2Trinity 1 John 5:7 -  In the earlier King James Version (KJV) “the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost” are mentioned. However, since that first KJV, modern biblical scholarship has discovered that the earliest and most reliable manuscripts do not contain this verse. It is an addition from many centuries later.The Trinity was not declared a "doctrine" until the Council of Nicea (325 A.D.). Friends are not trinitarian (since the Holy Scriptures do not use the term), but do believe in the oneness of God as divine Father, divine Word (Logos) and divine Holy Spirit. Section 3 Jesus, was the Word (Logos) of God, fully divine, full of grace and truth. The fullness of God was in Him as a human being.“The only begotten of the Father” (Gk: monogenēs - one of  a kind, unique).  Jesus' sacrifice as a human being on the cross was an act of complete obedience to God the Father. Salvation in the Bible is much deeper and broader than commonly understood by some today. It involves being saved/rescued/healed from the propensity, the proclivity, the inclination to sin/toward sinning. Romans 12:1,2.Section 4JustificationThe true meaning of justification has become very clouded and made very complex by the accretions over the centuries, and is understood very differently today than in the early church.  One is only made righteous (Greek: upright) in the sight of God through the work of the Light of Christ in us. Nothing one can do on one's own can make oneself righteous in God's eyes. If we walk in the Light as He is the Light, His precious blood cleanses us from all sin (and the guilt of sin). We must receive and obey the holy illumination of Christ. . .  with a “sincere repentance and amendment [continual transformation] of life”. We can be made righteous, upright, and walk according to the Holy Spirit in this life. Jesus is our examplar. The word “Christ" is actually a title given to Jesus: — Jesus, the Christ, meaning Jesus, the Anointed one. (Christos: the anointed one, anointed with the Holy Spirit), the Messiah.The seed of Christ within us must be tended, watered, and fertilized for us to become truly Christlike, truly Christian.  Greek:Logos - utterance, expression, God's expressing Himself.
